Bad Nursing Home 7/23/2010

Do not send your loved ones here. They will die in short time. There were 2 articles in SJ Mercury News when patients died from neglectful care. The staffs did not seem to understand dementia patient care. They yell and scream, shove medication in their face, and expect them to respond. They yell at my mom even though she hears perfectly, no hearing problem. There are no activities to stimulate, just silly stupid stuff. I discovered many deficiencies in my mom's care. When I brought them up to management and RNs. Instead of correcting them they just defended themselves and gets angry. Most of the staffs are Filipino,, they are related, husband & wife, sisters, and relatives working together. The Social Worker is a laughing stock, very poor attitude. They all look at the patients as pain in the butts, they are not kind & compassionate. They are just there for the money, they do not look at it as a vocation. Cons: Uncaring staffs, No therapy for dementia patinets, poor mgmt more

The Best Place In My Book.. 7/27/2009

My grandma was sent to this nursing home. Every time I visited her she was always so happy. She told me about how good the food was, and how everyone was nice to her. Even when my grandma left she still wanted to come back and get even stronger. With the program given to her she got a lot stronger and seemed happier. \r \r It is a wonderful place to send your loved ones that need long term care or just simply rehab. Pros: The people are all so nice and willing to help. Cons: There are none. more

Not a good place to leave your grand ma 1/11/2009

There are MANY problems with this facility. #1 is the fact that the nursing staff is 100% Fillipino and the thickness of their accents makes communication difficult, even to a person with normal hearing. What happens when you're an elderly patient who is hearing impaired? Not only are you isolated from family, but your only way to express yourself is hampered by a barrier like language. The staff are not there for the patient. It's the money. Period. Nursing is suppose to be a humanitarian vocation. Not a trace of it at this stink hole.Try sitting in a wheelchair all day with people who view you as merely a chore. It's heartbreaking and a parasitic abuse of public funds (most of the money comes from your tax dollars and probably leaves the country where THEY will go when they need skilled nursing). There are decent Fillipino nurses, really excellant people, but the bad ones seem to concentrate in facilities that are not culturally diverse. Watch out for that before you make a decision.\r I speak as some one who has worked in long term care for many years and surveyed Pleasant View just recently. Pros: Freeway access Cons: Not enough room to discuss more

Worst elderly care in California 12/5/2008

This is the most horrible retirement facility that I have ever been to, if you have to send your nasty in-law somewhere, this is the place. \r \r The facilities are downright dirty, I saw dump expired food at the back alley giving off really virulent smell in summer. The staff are all Filipino that are recent immigrants themselves, and the owner was fined in 2007 for owing back employee tax. I saw once a resident in tears when the nurse scolded her in public, to the extent of almost slapping her. I cannot imagine sending anybody I remotely care about to this facility.\r \r We came here to visit a relative, and upon seeing the situation, we urged his son to move the mom somewhere else right away, if he doesn't want to be wrought with guilt for the rest of his life.\r \r STAY AWAY!!! Pros: Send someone you hate here they die faster Cons: Everything is con, no pros. more

Don't Send Your Loved One There 8/15/2008

The Social Workers and management are very unprofessional. They cover their butt rather than do what's good for the residents. My mother almost became an invalid there. They confined her to her wheelchair even though she can walk with a walker. She lost her leg muscles, so she falls going to the bathroom. This is a direct result of their confining her to the wheelchair. \r \r My mom's personal belongings keep getting stolen. Instead of investigating the problem, the Social Workers blame me for the problem. They went as far as accusing of stealing them myself. What nonsense, why would I buy my mother new clothes, then turn around and steal them? Does that make any sense?\r \r The staffs are mostly Filipinos, educated in their country, not much training professionally Cons: Confines residents to wheelchairs and their room, no exercise, only some phony activities on their big chart for show more

Avoid this nursing home, very poor management. 6/13/2007

CNAs are lazy, the RNs & the Director of Staff Development lie through their teeth at care conferences. Admin. staffs are related, i.e. sisters, husbands & wives, cousins, other relatives, it's a racket, it's one big Filipino family. They should not allow family members to work with each other, in the same facility. If there is a court case, tamily members will not testify against each other, they cover each other's butt. \r \r The owner, Mr. Easterday, is indicted in the Federal Court for defrauding the government of payroll withdrawal taxes, in the tune of $10 million. Sentence hearing is scheduled for July 11, 2007. His license may be revoked, the nursing home may be sold. more

Poor Management - Pleasant View Convelescent Hospital 4/21/2007

Poor communication among staffs. Nursing supvsr gets belligerent & very defensive when deficiencies or negligence are pointed out. Instead of correcting them, they get very defensive and lie to cover their butt. Family members & residents refrain from complaining for fear of retaliation. What kind of a life is that for residents? They feel powerless. I was harassed by an unprofessional nursing supvsr while visiting.\r \r Air conditionding does not work properly in the summer. Room temp. was measured at 86 degrees on the west side. It was reported to the Health Dept. I got a response from them in December!! The inspector said she checked the facility & the temp is ok. Of course, it 's not hot anymore. It is winter, what a joke !\r \r Theft is rampant. Do not leave anything that looks new or attractive. My father has lost slippers, scarfs, new pair of jeans, pajamas & ring.\r \r Response to call lights is very slow. What happens in an emergency? You will never know because they cover up their story. Always take their report w/ a grain of salt. more
