Not a good place to leave your grand ma 1/11/2009

There are MANY problems with this facility. #1 is the fact that the nursing staff is 100% Fillipino and the thickness of their accents makes communication difficult, even to a person with normal hearing. What happens when you're an elderly patient who is hearing impaired? Not only are you isolated from family, but your only way to express yourself is hampered by a barrier like language. The staff are not there for the patient. It's the money. Period. Nursing is suppose to be a humanitarian vocation. Not a trace of it at this stink hole.Try sitting in a wheelchair all day with people who view you as merely a chore. It's heartbreaking and a parasitic abuse of public funds (most of the money comes from your tax dollars and probably leaves the country where THEY will go when they need skilled nursing). There are decent Fillipino nurses, really excellant people, but the bad ones seem to concentrate in facilities that are not culturally diverse. Watch out for that before you make a decision.\r I speak as some one who has worked in long term care for many years and surveyed Pleasant View just recently. Pros: Freeway access Cons: Not enough room to discuss more
