I took the kids to The Play Boutique in 12/27/2011

I took the kids to The Play Boutique in Lake Oswego for the first time last week and they had SO MUCH FUN! I can't believe we haven't been here before! I hadn't even heard of them until I bought a Sharing Spree certificate a couple of months ago. I'm so glad we learned about it! The bounce house is really popular and I LOVE that they have a play structure with slides and stuff INSIDE! \r \r This is the perfect place to play on the 8 billion rainy days we get each year in the Portland area! more

Dirty Floors 3/10/2011

Fun place for the kids but beware of the floors. Dust bunnies everywhere along with all kinds of other debris. Not good for babies/toddlers that are putting everything in their mouths. My son kept trying to eat who knows what that was on their dirty floor. I talked to another mom and she said that she mentioned this concern to them previously but the same condition persists. Like I said, fun place for the kids but not so fun keeping who knows what out of my son's mouth. more

unfortunate 12/11/2010

As the facility seems adequate, the staff unfortunately are somewhat rude. After checking times and rates on the web site we showed up, as did another unrelated family, to find out there was an event later in the day and that open play time was cancelled. This was Not posted on the web page or at the facility door or desk. After repeatedly being ignored while trying to check in we found out that we ""should have known"" because it was apparently posted on facebook. The other family was ignored as well. No follow up ""we would like to have you next time"" or encouragement to actually try a different time. It seems they are not interested in new business. more

I never had a place like this growing up, wish I did. Check out the Play Boutique in Lake Oswego. Pros: great space for kids more

Love this place! 3/29/2010

We have been going to Play Boutique for a little over a year now and we absolutely love it. There is nothing like it in the Portland area and I highly recommend it. The space is a great meeting place for playdates, especially those that can get kind of big, or when you just need a safe place for your little ones to run around and burn some energy. Can't beat it for the price!\r \r We aren't able to utilize the preschool program yet, however, we definitely will. I was able to observe for a bit and the teachers are great and the classrooms are very organized and nicely run. I have a friend whose little one has been in the program for a couple years now and she and her child love it. She loves to join her child for lunch whenever she can and after researching other programs in the area she has found the Play Boutique is the most educational and nurturing. We can't wait for the new space to open up! Pros: Clean facility, great staff, great events, very educational Cons: Need more open play times more

Fab for Kids! 1/3/2010

Play Boutique is awesome! I feel so fortunate that we found this gem. A great place to take kids, highly professional engaged staff......and fun networking for mom's (and dad's). Pros: great staff, easy parking, huge space Cons: no more kids to take........ more

Not recommended as a pre-school, pre-K or any type of ""school"" 9/6/2008

While there are some positive aspects of the Playboutique - its one of the few places in the area to bring your children for some running around time, a place to drop kids for a parents evening out, or an occasional class - it is not a proper pre-school or pre-k option. It is chaotic and noisy. There is no consistency in the teaching staff and they seem to utilize young inexperienced college girls to come teach the classes. Parents are not allowed to drop by to share snack time , call or check in, come and see their children or observe how a class is run. There is no running around time provided, for the most part, children are kept in a small room for hours. There is no motor stimulation or option for independent play. There is no outside facility so there is no fresh air time. I do not find this makes for a successful experience for any toddler or child. Children thrive on routine and the consistent presence of a teacher who has experience working with young children. If your looking for a place to drop by, this would be it. If you are looking for more - there are better options. Pros: parking, variety in classes, convenience Cons: revolving inexperienced staff, chaotic, noisy, expensive more

If parents ""take five"", who's watching the kids? 3/26/2008

My husband and I recently took our two kids, ages 3 and 7 months, to the ""coffee break"" stay and play and left upset after a slightly older (maybe 5 years old) child pushed my daughter down, then tackled her, and pinned her down (not in a playful way, and this was not o.k.). While kids will be kids, I was shocked at how the boy's parents were no where in sight (at least no one came running up to tell him to stop what he was doing), and I ended up having to tell the boy ""no"" myself, simply just to get him off of my daughter. The problem I see in this is that parents were encouraged to ""take five"" and have a coffee break, while their kids played pretty much unchecked. Also, there were only two employees working at the time. The area where parents can relax has a seating area and laptop computers which I think is great, but if you are there with your kids and the staff is not responsible for watching them during the ""stay and play coffee break"" then it needs to be made very clear to parents exactly who is responsible for watching their kids (if they don't know this already), the parents themselves. more
