Horrible Fishers Location 1/19/2010

I brought in new designer clothing with the tags still attached. The teenage staff took forever to go through it and then rejected everything. However, I noticed a few pieces were missing. When I asked about it they said it wasn't their problem. Very rude. You will end up getting ripped off or have stuff just taken. Basically the staff just takes what they want and when they are dressed in emo clothes that leaves few options for the seller. Go to a different Plato's Closet Cons: Horrible staff, too picky more

crooked employees in the buying department 10/21/2009

I agree with katie2008. I borught in 3 large bags of name brand clothing and other goods. When I went back later that same day to see if anything had been purchased, they hadn't even gone through the bags. So finally I called that night to find out how I could get credit for whatever they bought and stated that I couldn't make it back again before closing. When I went in a couple days later to get my credit, supposedly they had ""passed"" on all of it and donated everything. I left without any money and lost several hundred dollars worth of used goods. The thing I find hard to believe is that they ""passed"" on a brand new Coach Ipod case with the tags from Saks still attached, several Abercrombie coats, leather jackets, down vests and a collection of anime movies. \r \r UPDATE: I informed the manager of the problem and she was willing to investigate and try to fix things. If anyone has a problem in the selling dept, my recommendations is to immediately contact the manager so that the situation can be handled. Pros: good selection of used clothes for buyers Cons: terrible for sellers more

Cash and Great Prices! What more could you want! 5/6/2008

Plato's is a great store. \r The resale niche only allows them to sell items for a fraction of initial resale (which is awesome if you are a customer!). This store also pays cash on the spot, which means that they take on the entire risk for an item if it does not sell. Because of that they typically pay about 10% less than consignment... but you get cash right there.\r If you don't expect to get all of your money back and go in to sell items that you don't use any more, you will be pleasantly surprised with the amount you get. It's just like selling a used car, the item depreciates one you wear it. The staff has always been straight with me. They will break down the quote by item if you ask and you can take back any items you don't want to sell.\r I have also NEVER been told to leave items overnight. Quite the opposite. They want you to wait with your items in the store or come back the same day to help with their space limitations. \r If you wait, most of the time it only takes 20-30 minutes. They get slammed at lunch and right after work, so you will probably have a worse experience if you go then. Call ahead and see how busy they are and what they are looking for. I think you'll have a much better experience. \r Pros: quick cash, cheap prices, fabulous clothes Cons: this store has outgrown its space more

Save time donate to Goodwill instead. 2/19/2008

I have been to Plato's closet twice trying to sell clothes and have had a bad experience both times. The first time, I droppped off two bags of clothes to the store in Fishers and they told me to come back in 24 hours to receive cash back. I received a phone call the next day saying there was a small spider in one of my bags so they refused to even go through the clothing and I must come pick up the bags immediately. How did they know the spider was from my house and not the floor of their cluttered store? I was mad. Over a year later (February 2008) I took 3 large bags of name brand clothing into the same store. They told me to come back in 24 hours, which I did, only to find out that the teenage employees were going to ""pass"" on everything. I am moving out of state and was giving away some clothes I had never even worn before! I left empty-handed, without any cash back or even a receipt for my donation to deduct from my taxes. For the second time I had a bad experience and left the store insulted and disappointed...and empty handed! There was no benefit to me driving all the way to Plato's Closet to receive nothing in return. Pros: Parking Cons: Snotty, teenage employees more
