Editorial review from Citysearch 9/3/2013

Horrible experience. I walked into the store with jeans and shirts (they were advertising they needed jeans), and I was told it would be 15 minutes. The associate said when they were done, they would write my name on the board. 45 minutes later, I walk up and tell the associate I'm going to have to leave, and she says, ""oh, I'm done with those. They are all outside of our two year window. I just forgot to put your name on the board."" She gave me back my stuff, unorganized and messy, while the other employees and a customer stopped and stared at me. \r \r I found it funny, as I saw identical pairs of jeans on their rack (A&F). I guess I didn't fit their mold. I won't be back, and I won't encourage my friends to shop there. I'd rather donate my clothes than let that store profit from them. more

Terrible experience 6/29/2011

I should have stayed in the store while the employees tore through my clothes. When I returned from my errand, the girl working said, in a very condescending way, that my clothes were 'too mature' for their store. However, my 7 'A' pocket jeans and one other pair of pants, were not 'too mature' for an $8.75 offer. I was so humiliated! I quickly agreed, but I should have ripped my pants off the table and walked out, because as soon as I said OK, she HIGH FIVED her fellow employee behind the counter! I have worked consignment, and if it is your policy that you remain in the store while the appraiser looks through your clothes, it should be mentioned beyond a website. Especially if someone says they are going to step out, and have never been there before. It would be better than humiliating them after the fact. I should go straight to the owner, if I owned that store; I would want to know what was going on behind my counter. Overall, Plato's was just a terrible experience. I'm not sorry to say that I would never recommend this store to anyone. more

Very Rude and Unprofessional employees. 5/7/2011

I tried my best to give this store a chance. I shopped there 3 times. I have a very mellow and forgiving way and for this to make me feel this way, these people are just really horrible. I never been treated in such a bad way in all my shopping experience. Each and everytime for different reasons, I was treated in a very rude, mean way. They have rude and unprofessional people working there. Customer Beware! more

Poor customer service 12/28/2009

I work In retail. My company bends over backwards to make our customers happy! Not Plato""s, I spent two hrs during xmas to pick out my grandson some xmas. They do not take checks so I had to leave my merchandise. The next day I had to work a double shift and could not get to Johnson City from Bristol on time. I called and explained the situation. I sent someone there the next day but they had already put the clothes back and they were sold. We bought something else which did not fit, We tried to return with the receipt but not the tags. They would not let us return as we did not have the tags. Now we are stuck with sixty dollars worth of clothes that if we take back to resale to them we will probably get ten! They do not value their customer. I will not shop there again! Pros: good name brands Cons: give you nothing for your clothes but triple their markup more
