I had a wonderful experience at the Planet Salon at Hamburg. My stylist Bean was absolutely fabulous. She did a great job with my highlight, lowlights, and my cut. I also loved how she really took time to style my hair so that I could get my money's worth. I definitely reccommend her services to anyone!!! more

Look. If you are one of these people that are hatin on planet salon...GO AWAY! EVERY salon has drama and yes some people do have bad experiences...not everyone is going to like it. i just read some of the reviews and the complaints of loud music in the salon really cracks me up...Planet is one of the hippest salons in lexington what did u expect elevator music?...i mean really if u cant handle the music then bring your ipod or dont come..... more

Let me be clear. I have never left a review before, but I am fed up. I found the link to here from Planet Salon's website. The salon is always filthy and looks like a run down Regis. I overlooked the decor and mess because I loved Zack, his professionalism, and his work . I called three weeks ago and tried to set up an appointment with Zack. The gentleman at the desk told me that Zack was booked ,but he was referring his clients to stylist that were ""just as good"", and made me an appointment with Heather. I left a message for Zack to calm my nerves and was never called back. I kept my appointment with Heather. My haircut was average at best. One side was longer than the other, and she smelled like a cigarette. I called the salon four different times to talk to Zack and was never even given the courtesy of a return call. In fact, I was treated like I was a child, or they had no idea what was going on. I found out during one of these calls that Heather was not even the same ""level"" as Zack. How shady! I found Jason and Planet Salon here on Citysearch and took a chance. He took the time to explain what he was going to do, and even had some great suggestions on what would work for me. Turns out, my old stylist had been using bleach on my already blonde hair and I didn't even know it. My appointment was on Thursday and my blowdry lasted till Saturday. My color was perfect. This is the first place I have ever been where I could walk in and say ""I'm not sure what I want, what do you recommend?"" and actually get ideas. I have been looking for that forever. Heather was my stylist and I am extremely happy with my cut. She did a fabulous job and was very friendly and easy to talk to. She told me what she thought would look good and ask if that was okay with me. She did a wonderful job with the cut and I have gotten tons of compliments. This has never been the case before with any haircut I have gotten. I am very pleased and will gladly return again. Experienced stylists, good atmosphere, good service and good value. more

I have been a customer of Planet Salon for 5 years. I found Jason who knows how to make me LOOK BETTER, not just do an average cut, color and thats it. He has the creative eye to see what will look best on me, and the ability to make it happen. I was extremely disappointed with my haircut and the service at this salon. For the $70 I spent, I expect a $70 looking haircut. She spent maybe 5-10 minutes cutting my hair resulting in a $10 looking haircut. I told her how I usually styled my hair--and she didn't even take the time to style my hair herself, but had her assistant do it (a huge mistake considering that I was a NEW client). The end result was almost a comical. Needless to say I will NOT be returning to this salon. Any salon that condones this type of behavior is not getting my business. I washed and styled my hair once I got home and there is NO style to the cut. I would have been better off going to Great Clips. Cons: lacks quality service more

I was not impressed when I visited the Planet Salon in Hamburg. I arrived on time and had to wait for 20 minutes on my stylist. The atmosphere is noisy and loud and crappy music videos are being played on the TV that not match up with the music being played overhead. Weird Huh? Anyway I got and average cut, color and style from one of the ""master stylists"" and when I checked out the price for my visit did NOT reflect the service that I received. I would consider the cost ridiculous!! My stylist seemed more interested in talking to his salon buddy rather than in me, and I felt like just another head in his chair. I read some great reviews and decided to go for it. My appointment was with Seth for color.. I must say he did a fabulous job. He took his time and made sure that I was pleased with the results. Since he did my color last week, I've had several people compliment my hair commenting that it's the best it's ever looked. I love it!!!! I will definitely keep going back.. Thanks Seth! Charlene is a great stylist and colorist. Since Charlene has cut and colored m hair everyone has said my hair looks better than it ever has. Also, Charlene is great to talk to, professional, and goes out of her way to make her clients experience fantastic. Charlene is the best! more

I have gone to Planet for 6 + years. During this time, I moved to NYC. While in NYC, I went to see over a dozen stylists - none of whom did any where near as well as those at Planet. After these failed experiences, I would travel, every four months, to have my hair done by there excellent staff. Now, I am in Louisville and I still continue to go to Lexington to have them provide my services (they are even doing my wedding). I have never, ever had a bad experience. The staff is WONDERFUL. Anyone who would leave is crazy. From what I've seen , there is all of the internal support and education someone in the industry could ever desire. I've met the owners - they are generous, considerate and do not caterer to only the young, pretty women - they are good to EVERYONE. Anyone on this site, who would make such slanderous accusations against the owner, is obviously a scorn employee. more

I moved to Lexington from North Carolina to go to UK. I thought I'd never find a great salon to get my hair done at, and luckily one of my classmates referred me to Planet Salon in Hamburg. I have never been happier with my hair! I'm constantly complimented wherever I go on campus now and I have so much self confidence!! I've never felt better. Go to Planet, you'll see what I mean! The friendly desk staff recommended me to the perfect stylist for my hair type, and now I couldn't be happier with my cut and color. I had been recommended to see Crystal at Planet Salon to have my hair done for my wedding by my close friend who was also my Maid of Honor. I wasn?t very impressed by her during the trial run of my hair as there were pieces sticking up all over the place it was frizzy and didn?t look anything like the sleek up-do that I had asked for. And she just kept talking about her personal life and was not dressed the way that I thought someone in her price range should be. I mean, if your going to pay a lot for someones services you want someone who looks like they know what they are doing, right? But after reassurances from her and from my friend that my hair would turn out fine and that it would look really different the day of my wedding I went ahead and decided to stick with her. The day of my wedding she did my hair and the hair for my whole bridal party and we ended up looking like we were going to a High School Prom!! It was terrible!!!!! And she charged us an arm and a leg for it!!! I had to go home and wash my hair out then try and do something with it, fortunately my hair is naturally curly and I wore it down and loose. Things turned out fine but none of us have been back to Planet Salon since. However, since I see on here that she is no longer there maybe I can give someone else there a chance since I was really impressed with the place and the professionalism of all the other stylists. I was just recently recommended to go see Crystal at planet salon. Going to a new hairstylist is to me a very scary thing, but Crystal was great!!!!
