I own a performance facility in Detroit, I was passing through the Great city of New Orleans, and POW!!! Pothole!! Well being in a town where I know nobody, and nowhere to go, Pitstop rose to the occasion, not only did they get it together in a very timely manner, they gave me a ride to the French Quarter while I waited, for free! When it was finished all I had to do was tell them where I was and they picked me up!! Now that is what I call first class service. The Pit Stop Automotive Repair Shop is the best car repair facility I have ever been to and by far the best in the City of New Orleans. The staff is very professional and dependable. They are experts in diagnosing the vehicle problem and expertly repairing the problem. First shop I've taken Bronco to in years. I usually do the work myself to ensure it is done correctly and not to mention it saves money if you can do it yourself. Unfortunately, I don't have anyplace to work on my vehicle and the uneven sides of a road is not anyplace I want to be crawling around just to save a few $$$. I read lots of reviews and Pit Stop had the most reviews. Some good, some not so much. I've had my own business before so I know you can't please 100% of the people 100% of the time no matter how hard you try as a business owner. Luckily, the guys at Pit Stop seemed to have many more decent reviews than bad ones. Mostly, I was impressed that Shawn actually had taken the time to respond (all of which seemed completely geniune) to almost every review I read, good or bad. Kudos for that alone, Shawn. more

I don't understand how other people have such great reviews of this place. Either Pit stop auto fabricates their reviews or my 2 horrible experiences with them in a row is just a coincidence. more

Jay at Pit Stop Body Shop provided exceptional service for my 2010 Honda Odyssey that had bumper and fender damage. Not only did the work get done quicker than the 5 days promised, but Jay even picked me up to get my car when finished. After getting terrible serve at another body shop, which took 8 weeks to repair, I was determined to find a new Orleans area shop that could repair my vehicle quickly. I was very impressed with the large number of reviews online from other customers so I went to get a quote for the work done. I went to 3 other body shops for quotes and out of all of them , Pit stop was the most detailed and realistic quote. One place wouldn't even write me a quote without making an appointment. The other quotes were similar in price, however Pit Stops quotes was more thorough. YOU HAVE TO READ THIS!!! :) On 5-2-10 I went to Pit stop Auto Repair in New Orleans with a noise under my hood. They diagnosed it as a bad exhaust converter which was very expensive. Being a single mother in school this information was very upsetting. After discussing different options, Fallon referred me to the owner Shawn, from there he picked up the phone and called the Volkswagen dealer, within a few minutes he had me an appointment and the job covered under warranty! He actually talked them into covering this auto repair under the auto service warranty (which my car was out of warranty)These people at Pit Stop Auto Repair are very special, how many shops pass up the opportunity to make money just to help a girl in distress? Since, I have taken my car back for a/c repairs and the service-price was exceptional. Actually, they inspected the work that the Volkswagen dealer did early this month and found some problems with the quality of work. My car is now back at the dealer for them to properly fix what they did not on the first visit. I am happy to have found a locally owned New Orleans Car repair shop that I can depend on. I've had my SUV in to Pit Stop 3 times now. New windshield, then new shocks and brakes, had new tires installed today. Shawn & Mike are great: They explain what needs to be done, they discuss THE OPTIONS with you, they explain the cost, and best of all: They do what they say they are going to do, and they do it for the price they quote. They tried very hard to fit me in, even though my car need a lot of work and I came late in the day. They gave me a free oil change with my detailing (knowing that I needed one b/c I told them) and they gave me a free oil change card for my friend who recommended me. The detailing was very thorough and my car looked good as new (even though I came there with the car looking completely gross and filthy). Great great job! Pros: Customer service more

I dealt with Shawn Berger, owner, of Pit Stop Automotive over the phone from 350 miles away. I am the mom of a New Orleans college student & wasn't able to be there to talk with the staff in person. Shawn & his stafff have great customer service! They are very knowledgeable and dependable. Shawn took time out of his busy schedule to talk with me on several occasions as if I was his only customer. He helped to coordinate things with my insurance company. I found this shop through AAA and they were great about working with me. We talked about the things that needed to be done and the things that could wait a few months, which I appreciated since I'm a unemployed undergraduate student. My car is rather old ('93 Mustang) and they really did everything they could to find parts and to improvise when they couldn't. I was horribly disappointed with the Pit stop. They were not understanding or friendly. I felt that I was treated rudely because I am young. I had my car towed and the tow truck driver showed up about 2.5 hours after I called, which I can understand because they were busy because of the flood. The shop called me at 4 (they close at 5) with about an $800 quote, which is a very large sum for a grad student living on student loans. I asked for time to think about what to do and seek some advice, they said this was fine but apparently that means they can charge a lot fee for storing it. I asked my friend's grandpa and he advised me what to get done and what not to get done. I was having my boyfriend and my friend's grandpa handle it because I am a girl and did not want to get cheated. They became very angry because they repeatedly called the next day and I could not call back until noon. My boyfriend was at work which is why he could not answer his phone (appparently this is unacceptable). I was also on my way home for Christmas so I was on the plane that morning(the whole incident was bad timing). I was on the phone listening when my boyfriend presented the coupon that 'never expires' to the cashier while checking out. He was yelled at by the person behind the counter and told that he had already given us enough discounts( I'm assuming these so-called 'discounts' were the two things I asked him not to perform on my vehicle) and he wasn't giving us anymore because he had to call us 4 times. Apparently it isn't acceptable to not be able to answer phone calls when you are at work either. The whole ordeal ended with me sobbing on the other end of the phone and my boyfriend trying to calm me down...Merry Christmas. I will not be back...ever. Pit Stop got my ailing car in for service in the morning and had it ready to go by late afternoon. I was extremely impressed by the customer service - this shop is one of the few I have encountered where they manage to avoid being condescending and instead use the opportunity to educated the consumer. The problem with my car had been misdiagnosed at another shop, so I really was confused. The owner took the time to show me the damaged part and how it worked in relation to my car as a whole. Furthermore, the owner offered to do a cost-saving fix, which he felt confident would get my car moving again. He said if it didn't work, he would apply the cost toward the more expensive fix. I felt this was incredibly fair. It has been two weeks since I got the repair and I have had no further problems - my car is running better than ever. This is the second time i have dealt with them and both times i was towed within the 1st hour i called and the work was done the same day or early the next day. They are exceptionally understanding and genuinely care about the work. The price was more than fair for the amount of time and parts that were needed. I really appreciated the staff taking the time to work with me (I am in NH) and my daughter (down in LA). After the accident, I didn't know where to take the car for repairs. I had work done on my door once, and when an issue arose in the same door, it was taken care of very quickly. They have great deals on their website and are definitely willing to go the extra mile.
