Pirrone's Pizzeria

Very disappointed in Pirrone's Pizzeria. I recently bought their $20 off Groupon and went in to use it tonight. My total came to just over $21.xx with taxes. I hand them the coupon and my credit card and they said they could not accept credit cards because the total was less than $5. Huh? My total was $21.xx, not less than $5. They said since I was using a $20 off coupon (that I paid $10 for!) my total was only $1.xx and they could not accept my credit card. I walked out. Horrible customer service! I've heard of little gas stations requiring a minimum payment but a restaurant? Suck it up Pirrone's, you told a paying customer you didn't want their money! I thought the point of Groupon's was to get more new customers not to chase them away. more

We have been going to Pirrones for over 17 Years and the service has never been the best but tonight was the worst. The place was NOT busy only people at 5 or 6 tables. We ordered 2 salads and 2 pastas. Salads and drinks came out in the normal amount of time. The pastas took for ever. So slow that two other tables that came in after us got their pizzas before us. And everybody knows how slow they are with pizzas! When our pastas came out they were\r ICE COLD, not luke warm, but ICE COLD. We told the girl about it and she said that she would warm them up?? We said no thanks just bring us our bill. When she brought the bill it was full price less the pastas. No compensation for the wait or the cold food. Their service has never been very good but the food used to be good.\r The Manager never even had the courtesy to come to the table.\r It's a shame that another Florissant Restaurant is going to the Dogs!!! It will be a long time before we go back again, if ever.\r And business's wonder why more

So far, this is the best St. Louis style pizza I have had period. Some come close, but I would choose this place any day. They have a full Italian menu, but I have never ordered anything but the pizza and salad. I am sure most people are the same way. There is just no point of going beyond those 2 items. If you want to show someone from out of town what St. Louis style pizza is, do them a favor and avoid the joke that is Imo's and take them here. Sometimes the wait is long, but that is only because perfection can not be rushed. They have a place in St. Peters now too. Personally, I think they could franchise this place and crush Imo's. more

I'm referring to the buffet. They're fully aware of people being unhappy about their failure to keep the buffet table adequately supplied, particularly with Pizza. We're often stuck in the buffet line, waiting for pizza, with many other disgruntled patrons. One lady remarked to me, ""Each time I come here, I swear it will be my last, yet I return anyway"". Management either doesn't care, or refuses to address this problem. There's nothing more frustrating then being promised and paying for a buffet, only to find the food they promise to be available is difficult to get. More times than not, we've had to just take whatever pizza was available, often times after it has been severely picked over, rather than be able to get the pizza we desire with our choice of toppings. They have a strong crowd for the buffets. But they simply refuse to delegate the manpower necessary to keep the pizza buffet steam table adequately supplied. And this is the case, each time we visit Pirrone's. Don't bother to complain, we have and it accomplished nothing. Over 25 years ago we were first introduced to Pirrone's Pizza. We were relative newlyweds. We brought our parents the next weekend. Tonight we took our newly married daughter and son-in- law there for dinner because they missed the pizza on their two week honeymoon. Since our initial visit, we have introduced this place to many more friends and family members. The place wasn't fancy, but neither were the prices. The waitresses may not all be polished; they may be just ordinary people working to make a living; many young high school kids, some mom's working second jobs and some professional waitresse make up the force. In all the years, we have never had ""bad' service, but admittedly some servers are faster, better, cuter and nicer than others; then again so are some coustomers. Not one to abandon a good thing, I usually stick to salad and pizza, although I do like the breaded mushrooms a LOT! T I Then, I tried the lunch buffet one day. There was never a shortage of hot pizza; however the selection was limited to 3 or 4 types. There was a wait for a table. I was invited to a Bridal Shower in one of the newly opened banquet rooms and had pasta with meat suace and pasta con broccoli. The banquet rooms are very nice, and spacious. ""Around the Corner"" location has expanded and the initial location closed. It is clean and attractive but the place isn't fancy by any means. Let's be realistic! Mom and pops places couldn't survive all of these years; though hard times and good times, if they weren't doing something right. If you haven't tried this place you are missing the best pizza I have ever had! The secret here is the crust, or is it the sauce? No, I think it is the combination of the cheeses-it really is wonderful! Pros: Best Pizza hands donw! Cons: No reservations unless you reserve a banquet room. more

I was just in Pirrones and the place looks FANTASTIC, after there remodel, it has so much more seating and the colors and decor are GREAT!! Love the Party Room you can rent for any kind of occasion. A lot of people can say that a restaurant is the best-or has the best Pizza; but I've tasted a lotta pies over the years and Pirrone's ranks up there in the top 5 BEST Pizzas I've ever had anywhere.The salads will easily be enough for 2 people they are that large. The waitstaff is always helpful friendly and attentive. I've never been disappointed and I hope you won't be either more

My friend Anne and I grew up in Florissant, and ate at Pirrone's every week... the pizza and salads were delicious! And the atmosphere was very homey. I moved to West County in 2000, Anne moved to St. Charles. We have yet to find a pizzeria that tastes as good as Pirrone's. We make a point to take a trip out there every month to enjoy the great food!!! I had high expectations for Pirrone's, I heard the pizza was good. We arrived around 9:00p.m. and saw several empty tables and four or five workers hanging out by one of the tables. We had to wait 20 minutes for a party tolleave their table even though empty tables were in plain sight. We ordered several salads and pizzas. The salad arrived with lots of wet lettuce, cheese and very little dressing. Oh well, we wanted pizza and if the pizza is good we could excuse the poor salad. The pizza arrived and the pizza had no taste. It was like a piece of cardboard. I can't imagine why anyone would eat this pizza. I have had frozen pizza that was better than Pirrone's. Also, the waitress was terrible. The restaurant was dirty, the table cloth was incrediby old and wore, the whole place looked like it might be shut down anyday. do not waste your time and money at this place. Pirrone's has the best pizza around. To the person who said something about Kraft singles as the cheese for the pizza ignorance is bliss those are provel slices and they melt so nicely with the sauce to create the most wonderful tasting pizza me and my family and friends have ever had. The special salad is also exceptional someone said to get the house dressing which is good but I recommend creamy italian. It just tastes sooo good. Pros: the wonderful pizza and the family atmosphere Cons: it can get crowded so if you have to wait trust me it is worth it more

You must get the house dressing on the salad. It makes the salad better than anyone's. more

We pointed the flaw out to our waitress who seemed frustrated when we complained. We requested to speak to manager. As with the previous lady who complained, we were never given an opportunity to speak with manager. We believe the attitudes that permeate here, are not very apologetic. It really doesn't matter whether the hair on the pizza is a human hair or a hair from a pizza brush. Both of these items are a disgusting unappetizing thing to be contained on food you're about to consume. If their response was more apologetic rather than standoffish, we believe it would go a long way towards making an unpleasant situation more tolerable. I also agree with previous poster about the cleanliness of Pirrone's. At times when it is very busy, the waitresses have a difficult time keeping the areas clean. And as a previous poster stated, the buffet at times is very poor in keeping pizza available to eat on the steam table. Buffet time there is usually quite busy. As a result you can often wait longer to get pizza to eat, then if you had just ordered your own personal pizza to the table. i normally dont post letters on these sites but i just had to comment on the review by the lady who found a ""hair"" in her pizza. Just what were smoking that day maam??? 99% of what you wrote was comple B.S. i was there that day sitting a table away.. first of all the server was very nice and apologized several times. you were the one with the attitude. you also failed to mention that they took your buffet off of your bill. i used to work in a pizza place many years ago and can state as fact that oven brushes have long black bristles that curl when exposed to the heat of the ovens. finally if you were so disgusted why then did you and your guest continue to stay and eat??? i guess it's not so disgusting when its free huh??? I love this place! It can't get any better! I have NEVER had any problems with the buffet, yes it does have a line, but who woulnd't if the pizza ia that good?! I think the staff that they have is excellent and couldn't ask for better! I am a regular and come in there all the time and never once have had a problem!!! more

We went for the lunch buffet today. It was awful!!! First of all, there was never any pizza on the buffet. Whenever they would bring out a pizza, a long line would form and by the time you got through the line, all the pizza would be gone except maybe a slice or two. It seems since the buffet is mostly pizza, it should be kept stocked. We were there over an hour just waiting for more than a slice of pizza to be available. When I finally did get a piece of pizza, there was a long curly black hair in it. I'm blonde so I know it wasn't mine. Plus, you could tell it was baked in. When we showed our waitress the hair, she never even said sorry. She just said it had to be a brush they use making the pizza. We asked to talk to the manager, but never got to. The waitress just came back insisting the same thing. She never once apologized!!! I don't really care if it was a hair or a piece of brush, it was still disgusting!! I have never seen a 6 inch long curly brush strand though. We will never go back again, the place is dirty and the staff is unpleasant! Cons: dirty more

I have gone to Pirrones since I was a little girl! It is hands down the best pizza I have ever tasted! I prefer to go to the older location when it is open on the weekends. I am not really sure why, I just like it better. This place has the best food in town! more

Without a doubt, Pirrone's is the best, thin-crust, pizza in the entire United States! Pros: Best thin crust Pizza in the World. Period Cons: Only located in Florissant, MO. Need to open a franchise in Colorado. more

We have ordered pizza from Pirrone's for years. They have a restaurant around the corner, but it was always packed, so they expanded to a new building. I'm not sure how they separate the two buildings since they are within walking distance from each other. Maybe one is for pick up, and one is for dinner parties. I don't know and have not been able to figure it out. However, this location is the new one and it felt cramped to me. They have about 10-20 little tables, and it just feels small. The pizza is good. I believe they use provel cheese, but I have never asked. They offer other typical Italian dishes, which are also decent. I would recommend the food, but we always order to go. more

Pirrones is hands down the best pizza in town! The salads are awesome and huge! The service is freindly. The time for the food to get to the table is a bit longer sometimes, but worth it because the pizza's are hand rolled and made to order. The cheese they use on the pizza is the best and no it isn't Kraft singles! It is a white cheese that appears orange when melted onto the sauce! Overall, Pirrones is the place to go for Pizza's, Salads and Pasta! Pros: Is a great place to bring the family! more
