My daughter lived in the pines for three and a half years. I could not be happier. All her maintenance issues were addressed fast. The manager was never anything but helpful to myself and my daughter. If your child is going to school to party, this isn't the place for you. My daughter always felt safe and never had to worry that her neighbor might be having an all nighter, which is a problem for noise and security. Clean, well priced, would recommend to friends with kids going to SHSU. more

We would like to comment on the below rating. This resident moved in in December, and did originally inform us that her AC was not working properly. We sent the maintenance crew out within 24 hrs to look at the unit and see what we could do to fix it. They did repairs to the AC unit and we did not hear about any other issues until the mother (the one who wrote this review) called us informing us 2 weeks ago that the unit was still not working properly. Once again, we sent the maintenance crew out to look at the AC unit. The last time we heard about any issues was yesterday, when they came in at 4:30 telling us that the apartment was so hot over night that they had to go buy fans to cool the 1/br apartment down over night. We went over to the apartment immediately, once again, and actually offered our model apartment for them to stay in until we could completely replace the entire AC unit. They weren't having it. Although we do understand this is an incredible inconvenience, we did everything in our power to access the situation when it was brought to our attention. Granted they did inform us 3 times about having issues with the AC, but understand this was over a 6 MONTH PERIOD! We do offer a 24 hour answering service, everyone is told this when they sign their lease. All of our residents are aware of this service because the calls are forwarded to managements cell phones so we can come out at any time of the night and help our tenants with any issue they may come across. The Pines Apartments prides ourselves off of quick maintenance, and a professional office staff so to see this review is quite frankly, very hurtful considering the lengths that we went to to accommodate this tenant when we were actually made aware of the issue. I can say with full confidence that the maintenance crew did not disrespect the mother in ANY way as I would have pulled the employee away from the situation and tried to defuse it myself. If you have any reservations about our professional atmosphere, or our 24 hr answering service I encourage you to call our number at 936-295-9106 at any time of the night and I feel that will prove our point.\r Tiffany \r Pines Management more

PARENTS, DO NOT LET YOUR COLLEGE STUDENTS MOVE HERE! \r \r The manager is extremely condescending and rude. Lets call him Mr. BIGMOUTH. His attitude makes it very uncomfortable for young SHSU students to report problems. MY DAUGHTER DID NOT HAVE AC FOR MONTHS! Temperatures in her apt were intolerable and her electric bill was very high. Mr Bigmouth had the nerve to say that it was her own fault for only reporting the problem 3 times and that he did not believe her. They claim tenants have access to a 24 hr line to report problems, but their apt contracts clearly state that you must send your work request in writing to their office only during office hrs. If you're a parent looking for a nice place for your college student, do not make the mistake I made by choosing The Pines Apts. If maintenance spent the time they spend on the maintaining the grass/grounds, maintaining the apts instead, things may be much better. Looks can be deceiving. The maintenance man laughed in our faces when we told him the problem we were having. Parents BEWARE, I had to drive 3 1/2 hours to her apt to make sure that the problem was taken care of and trust me...Mr. Bigmouth and the maintenance man made it very difficult, stressful, and uncomfortable. In my opinion Mr. Bigmouth should NOT be in any position where he has to relate to a customer. more

DO NOT MOVE HERE! This place has no respect for human rights 6/21/2011

I've lived at the Pines for several months and while living here, workers and contractors associated with The Pines have come to my front door, unlocked it with the master key, and helped themselves to my apartment. 5/6 times I was NOT notified either. It is very embarrassing and disrespectful to open the door to your bedroom, in your underwear, to find some foreign guy blocking the way asking you questions. To be honest the first time this happened to me I thought I was being robbed so I had my Handgun locked and loaded. This place DOES NOT respect your rights as a human being. We also had another indecent where the owner of apartments lost the MASTER KEY and had to go around and open up everyone's doors and it was just an utter nightmare. Never in my life have I wanted to move out of my place of residence so fast. Just to top it off, the other morning the building next to mine got EVICTION THREATS because, and I quote, ""It has been brought to our attention that someone in the four building is smoking Marijuana in their apartment and it is inconveniencing several other residents."" Oh really? Even when our apartments ALLOW smoking and smokers. What kind of crowd do you expect to come live at your apartments? Its like they compare pot smokers to people who shoot up heroin. They're all in the same category apparently so they don't deserve a place to live. Its amazing how poorly this place is run. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THESE APARTMENTS, YOU'LL LOSE IT. more

A nice place 4/11/2008

Enjoy the piece and quiet around here, despite the new construction across the stree. Repairs are done the same day, office staff are helpful. Only drawback is parking can be a hassell at night, and some of the spots up front are too small for trucks. All in all a great place to live. Pros: Friendly staff, close to campus and I 45, good value Cons: Parking, and laundry facility more

Awesome place to live 10/15/2006

The Pines is a pretty small complex and everyone who works here is super nice. I've lived here for about a year now and I've never had any problems. If you ever have any maintenance needs, they will come literally the same day. The apartments are well kept, and the maintenance guys all live here and are so respectful and friendly. Also, they pride themselves on being a quieter complex so there isn't a bunch of noise or parties going on. It's just a really nice environment. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. Pros: quick maintenance, friendly managers, close to campus Cons: no coin machine in the laundry room so you have to get your quarters elsewhere, parking can sometimes be a pain at night more
