Wonderful beer selection for every taste. Event the pickiest customer here will find what he/she likes. They update their beer menu every couple of weeks. Pizza is delicious. Y...

I left Piece with a cloying aftertaste in my mouth. I'm not quite sure if it was disappointment or the flavor of luke-warm canned mushrooms. Whether thin crust is New Haven style...

Great pie, BUT 10/26/2006

The pizza here is great! If you're from the east coast, you'll love love love it! And the brews....outstanding! They win awards it's so good! Weekend nights, don't even bother. Last weekend the wait was 2 hours! I mean, it's good, but a 2 hour wait? I've been on weekends for lunch, and it's totally do-able. The service can be a little slow at times, but overall it's good. Go for the pizza! Or get the takeout special on Sundays...... more

Snobby Service 10/22/2006

Brutal, snobby service. They won't take reservations unless you know someone who works there, so your average wait on the weekend will be 2 or more hours. Not worth the wait and attitude you have to put up with. Many better pizza options in the city with friendly servers and atmosphere. more

Superb thin crust 9/27/2006

Piece is a must try for NY-style pizza lovers, like me. I used to swear by Santullos (just a few steps away), but I'm sold on Piece's New Haven-style of thin crust. It's slightly chewier, but still very crisp. In addition, the dough is more flavorful than the thin of most other pizza joints of any style in Chicago. more

Great food, great neighborhood 8/21/2006

I'm from NY, and when I was visiting family in Chicago, my cousin brought me here for lunch. I was SO impressed with the food! We didn't get pizza, but we did get some amazing homemade salsa and tortilla chips, and the best ceasar salad of my life (I didn't think a salad could be so amazing, but it was). I'm relocating to Chicago next year and I'm looking forward to frequenting Pieces! An added bonus, the neighborhood is very cute, and we had extremely friendly service. It wasn't super fast, but we did get smiles from the waitress. Pros: Delicious food for all types, great atmosphere Cons: Slightly slow service, but worth it anyway more

Best Thin-Crust Around. 6/23/2006

I think this place has THE BEST THIN CRUST PIZZA I HAVE EVER TASTED. I personally know nothing about their beer, although everyone i talked to that has gone there said they have the greatest beer in chicago (im talking about the beer they brew). They have good service, they servers are VERY ATTENTIVE. I love the pizza, i just cant get enough of it. I have NEVER had a bad experience at Piece. It is great for big groups, i went there with 20 people once. :-) everything was still great, nothing changed because of the amount of people. The atmosphere is great, i love the decor. In my book Piece gets 100 out of 10 stars!!! Go and try it today, you wont be dissapointed. Pros: EXCELLENT FOOD, GOOD BEER, GOOD SERVICE. Cons: It is a bit expensive, but worth every cent!!! more

7/10---above average pizza, service was ho hum 4/18/2006

I have been dying to go to Piece since I moved here last July. My friend and I went Saturday around 2pm and were promptly seated....in between 2 families with crying babies. The male host was a space cadet, there were many other open tables to place us at. We asked to move and he complied. Our server was pretty attentive. My friend ordered a salad and I a pizza. Her salad was wrong and they burned my pizza. We waited over 45 minutes to eat! Good beer but prices are pretty steep. Luckily (I guess you could say that), my whole tab was taken care of by the manager. This was very nice, but the manager could have come over personally and apologized. Otherwise, it was an OK experience. PLain atmosphere. I am iffy of whether I would go back. The pizza, when it finally arrived, was damn good. Pros: pizza Cons: prices, service, atmosphere more

Best thin crust in Chicago 4/13/2006

Unlike the other reviewers, I've never had bad or slow service at Piece. As an East Coast transplant to Chicago, I have to say that this is some of the best thin-crust pizza I've ever tasted. The sauce is the perfect mixture of tangy & sweet. The amount of cheese is just right. My only complaint is that adding normal toppings (sausage, pepperoni, etc.) is an additional $2 each. Pros: DELICIOUS, Good location, Open atmosphere Cons: Expensive toppings, Expensive appetizers more

If only we could park! 2/18/2006

I've never been disappointed with the food. But don't expect to park there. Parking on the street is tough, as you might expect. But using the valet provides no relief. The last two times I've been there, it's been 15 minutes to get someone to take the car, and quite literally 2-3 times that to get the car back. Pros: food Cons: valet parking more

Best thin crust in Chicago 12/15/2005

This is an update review, since we eat at Piece regularly. Still some of the best pizza around, and nobody can touch their home brewed beers. Next week will be our second time having Piece supply numerous pizzas for our party needs. If only the place were twice as big on the weekends, they would fill the joint. I hope soon they target another location maybe in Old Town or Near North and run with it! Pros: Beer, Pizza, Sports, Fun Cons: Bar Service more

True New York style pizza 11/11/2005

FINALLY!! I have been searching for pizza that even comes close to NY style for the last 3 years i have been in Chicago. People this is it. The pizza was out of this world, and check this out... its pie cut not in squares!!! Like its supposed to be. The price is not bad considering the location and the crowd is very diverse, making my experience a true joy!! I actually got goosebumps when i took the first bite. Be prepared to spend about 80$ for four people but WELL WORTH IT. Great Night Out A++++++++++++++. Do yourself a favor pay the valet. parking on Friday was bad. Pros: Atmosphere, Pizza, Price Cons: Parking more

Consistently Delicious 6/13/2005

Some of the best pizza in Chicago and a great place for anyone. I've eaten there with friends as well as my parents and even taken international guests there, everyone loves it. Game nights are a little crowded if that's not what you're there for. They have an awesome salad so it's good to get a large one and a pizza to share with like four people. Beers are also worth trying too! Pros: Pizza, Beer, Atmosphere Cons: Parking, Sometimes Service more

Service is terrible 5/19/2005

We tried Piece last night - we dropped $80+ for dinner and several pitchers of beer; we decided to watch Karaoke and moved to the bar area. Our server told us that we could sit at her table but she wouldn't wait on us if we weren't eating. We weren't ordering a pizza ($20) so she'd be missing a $4 tip. She would have made more of a tip if she'd just been friendly and done her job. Instead we went to a place called Pint - and spent over $200. She could've had a $40 tip if only she'd decided that drinking-only patrons were worth her time. I wouldn't recommend this place if you're just looking for a place to drink and hang out. Much better places in the neighborhood. Pros: karaoke, pizza, beer Cons: service, rude waitstaff, long wait more

Expensive But Yummy 9/21/2004

I've only had Piece's pizza and it is really good. I love that their ingredients are not the run of the mill type of toppings. But, Piece's pizza is on the expensive side. I've only called in orders for pickup so I cannot comment on the sit down service. It looks like a nice place to hang out. Pros: Good Pizza more

Pizza & Microbrew 5/12/2004

for chicago this is new and great. great pizza and micro brewed beer in the same place. you have so many choices how you want your pizza....dry, white sauce, or heavy red. the beer reminds me of the northwest. Pros: great food, micro beer more

Piece--New Haven style pizza 2/13/2004

I'm from New Haven, so I know....this place has all the ingredients just right. But either their ovens aren't hot enough, or they aren't cooking it long enough, because they never get the crust--which is the point in New Haven pizza--quite right! It never has the perfect balance of crunchiness on the outside and chewiness on the inside. But they get a lot of credit for trying to make real pizza, as opposed to that deep dish thing Chicago calls pizza. (It can be good, but it should have another name!) more

""Piece"" is clearly the BEST!! 8/18/2003

I live in NYC and travel to Chicago quite a bit for business. Whenever I go out with clients, I insist on going to ""Piece"" because the pizza is clearly the best in the world, the ambience is fantastic, and the beer is just awesome -- I get the most intense buzz after just two of those chippy micro-brews. I've been to all the so-called best pizza places in New York, New Haven, etc., but ""Piece"" blows them all away. I can talk for hours about all the gorgeous women I've picked up there too, but that's another story for another day. Pros: Best Pizza Cons: not open 24 hours more

The Best Pizza Period! 7/31/2003

Piece is not only the best pizza in Chicago, but I would go as far as saying that it is the best pizza in the country. I have had Pizza in New York, in New Haven, in Los Angeles, I have even had pizza in Iowa and Piece just takes pizza to another level. I have been waiting for the day when thin crusted pizza would arrive in Chicago and Piece is a dream come true. Pros: Tastes Great, Looks Great, Is Great Cons: Only one location more

Well... the beer's okay 1/24/2003

I left Piece with a cloying aftertaste in my mouth. I'm not quite sure if it was disappointment or the flavor of luke-warm canned mushrooms. Whether thin crust is New Haven style or otherwise, it need not be bland and lifeless like that dished up at Piece. The english ale-style beer I had was fine even if it was slightly off the mark for being an english ale. When viewed as a large bar that happens to have pizza, Piece ain't so bad. Pros: Decent Beer, Lotta TVs, Cheap Trick dude Cons: Dat pie ain't right more

Not for the service 12/12/2002

The service is less than stellar but the New England style pizza offers a great alternative to the stuffed variety seen so often in Chicago. The microbrew staples are better than average as well. Pros: Pizza, Beer, Inexpensive Cons: Service more

East Coast pizza in the Midwest 8/15/2002

Piece serves really great pies that provide a much-needed contrast to the heavy Chicago-style pizza that dominates the city. Ignore the Real World associations and the horribly slow service and go for the food and the great beer. It's worth the wait. more
