Joanne has been my hair stylist for almost five years now and I've never been disappointed. She is incredibly talented- she can look at a person and tell what style will best compliment their face shape. She can also remedy hair disasters. I twice tried to dye my hair from a box- a different color each time. Both times she was able to make my hair go back to its usual appearance- natural highlights and all. Recently I had to cut several inches off my hair bc it was brittle/dry, and I was nervous because I typically do not like the way short hair looks on me. Despite this, Joanne was able to create a look on me that I genuinely love and find flattering. Additionally she is easy to talk to, friendly, and very professional. more

Another great blowdry & color by Joe Luciano. Joe is the best and his blowdry lasts for days!! Salon is comfortable and there is always a great vibe / energy. The check-in/check-out process is easy and quick and the entire team is always personable and friendly! Definitely a must try in downtown Andover… more

Joanne is THE best! Working as a sales representative for a large company, I have been required to travel to many different cities throughout the country. I have tried an abundant amount of salons during my stays in various locations, but no stylist provided me with the cut and color I was hoping for. After arriving home to Boston, I saw a woman with this great, modern hairstyle! It seemed to fit her perfectly, and was different than most styles I had seen. I approached her and asked where she had gotten her hair done, expecting the name of a Boston salon. To my surprise, she told me that she had gotten her hair done by a woman named Joanne in Andover, MA. She gave me her number, and I scheduled an appointment with Joanne as soon as I could. After the first time Joanne styled my hair, I knew I had found the perfect hair stylist for me! She had provided me with the style I had described, but had added her own personal touch to make it even better! She not only envisions modern, creative styles, but creates them on clients! With Joanne's creativity and skills, I would trust her with any idea she has for my hair! Currently I reside in Boston, and travel to Philip Ciampa Salon in Andover every few weeks to receive a cut and color from Joanne! She is worth every minute of the drive! I wouldn't go to anyone else! I have referred many of my friends to her, who all are very pleased with their results also. more

Jen Stern is a talent!! 4/30/2012

I followed Jen to Philip Ciampa. I did not know that I would be even happier with her skills at her new location. The product line for color treatments at Philip Ciampa is superior and has improved the texture of my hair and I like the actual color better too. Jen makes sure her clients are completely happy. She will spend time figuring out exactly what a client wants and when asked she will give her own creative ideas. She does not try to give you the exact same ""do"" each appointment unless, of course, you want it. I like to mix it up sometimes and she is always up for the challenge. She is kind and honest and hard working. I highly recommend her! more

Great cuts and highlights 4/6/2012

I have been getting my hair cut and colored with Monica for the last 5 years and each cut is perfect and my color always comes out great. The salon is well kept and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. Definitely a great salon. more

Jamie Ciampa is great! 4/1/2012

My parents introduced me to Philip Ciampa Salon a couple of years ago. Both of my parents have been going to Philip for over 25 years! My mom introduced me to Jamie Ciampa and we hit it off right away.\r \r Jamie asked me how I wanted my hair to be styled and I told her straight and she has been styling my hair that way ever since. I have been going to her over 10 years now. She is great to talk to, very personable, only wants the best for her customers, and takes time with every of her customers’ hair.\r \r She actually styled my hair for both of my proms and now she will be styling my hair for my wedding. I will definitely recommend her to all of my friends!\r more

Great services! 3/19/2012

This salon is really spacious and relaxing and has a great vibe! The location has easy access to parking. My stylist, Jaime, is great! I have gone from wanting red to brown to blonde hair over the years and he is always up for the challenge! He knows what shades and cuts look best for me and is a great listener. The staff is welcoming and I look forward to each visit! more

joanne - the best hair cutter in andover and beyond! 2/13/2012

in 2001 i was desperate to get a good hair cut. a friend told me about this woman named joanne. i made an appointment and honestly,l it was the best personal care decision i have ever made! i have had a lot of hair cuts in 48 years, some at one of the top salons in nyc when i lived in westchester and some at a swank place in boston , and many at a lot of other places in between. NO one has given me a better hair cut than joanne. she is truly an artist. she is also funny, completely honest, kind and caring. not to mention way hip! she has lived and cut hair on the west coast - she knows and understands trends, but, more importantly, she understands hair...how different textures work, what styles flatter which face type, etc. she knows her stuff. only once have i over-rule her judgment on a style - i was determined to get a particular cut and she talked to me for 15 mins about what it was a bad idea. that was the one and only time i tried to tell her how to do her job, because...wow, she was so right! i have followed joanne through her journey in andover, moving where ever she moved. that is how spectacular she is. as long as joanne is within driving distance of andover, she will be cutting my hair. now she cuts my two eldest daughters' hair too. one has pin straight, slightly fine hair and the other has thick hair with volumes of body. she gives them the styles that work for their hair type and their life style. joanne is a pro! more

William Francis is the best in the Andovers 2/7/2012

William Francis has been cutting, coloring and styling my hair for almost a dozen years. His professionalism and attention to detail get me tons of compliments from friends, clients and even strangers. \r \r I was sitting in a bar restaurant in a neighboring town recently and the woman sitting next to me introduced herself as a hairstylist and commented on how great my hair looked. When I credited William for it, she immediately recognized and praised his work. Nothing like a testimonial from your competition!\r \r I rely on William to tell me the truth about the best styles and color for my hair and to make necessary adjustments. He is not a ""yes man"" and will candidly advise me against changes that wouldn't flatter the shape of my face or skin tone. \r \r The salon has been given a very glamorous makeover and I always feel pampered and appreciated by the staff and enjoy my monthly visits. I appreciate the convenient downtown Andover location and know that William, the perfectionist, will never let me leave until he is satisfied that I look my best. He is worth the drive, wherever you live.\r \r more

Joanne Melonas is an artist and hair is her medium 1/26/2012

Several years back I had a look I wanted that required a hairstyle that no one was wearing at the time. I tried a few salons in Andover and while I got technically good haircuts, they didn't get me close to where I wanted to go. I even went to Vidal Sasson in Boston and again, great haircut but not there yet. Finally, one day, while shopping at the ol' Market Basket I spied this woman in the produce section with a haircut that was 75% of what I wanted. I practically mowed her down with my cart to find out who cut her hair, expecting to here her say someplace expensive and far away and she told me ""Joanne Melonas in Andover."" Wow. Less than a mile from my house was the artist who would help me be me, or the unrealized me. Joanne is more than a hairdresser...she's like the master chef who decides the evening's dinner based on what looks good at the market. She can work with any type of hair, any look you're going for...she's a hair-whisperer. Joanne is also very professional and always respects her client's wishes. She's trained at a world class level and capable of interpreting your needs. But, and here's what makes Joanne so special, if you want to take a ride with someone who will bring you to places (hair-do wise) that you never thought you'd go, Joanne's your gal. And, you never have to worry about walking out of the salon looking like everyone else in her chair, no two customers have the same do, everything is individualized. more

Great Stylist 1/19/2012

I should start this by saying I'm one of those people that never really loved my hair...until I met William. William at Philip Ciampa in Andover is a great hair stylist. I've received more compliments from complete strangers and I'm always happy to tell them about William. If you're searching for a new stylist and want someone whose expertise in all aspects of haircare is outstanding, you should book an appointment with William. more

Great Service @ Philip Ciampa Salon 1/16/2012

William at Philip Ciampa Salon in Andover has been coloring and cutting my hair for about a half dozen years and my hair has never looked better. My hair color changes from dark brown to a natural -looking brown and William seems to anticipate what I'll want next without my even asking, which I really appreciate. Without a doubt, he is an expert colorist. He makes great suggestions and listens well, too. I've been happy with every hair cut William's given me and especially like the way he has layered it for now. I'd also feel very comfortable asking William to give me a short bob because I know he would give me a cut that flatters me--always has. He tells me about new products, or I ask about them, and I always feel that I am using the best. Kerastase for mature hair is my current favorite. My longish hair seems thicker and shinier with each use. Try it and you'll see what I mean. The salon is comfortable and super clean, and all staff are kind at all times. If you are new in town, or even thinking about trying a new salon in Andover, definitely give the salon a call and book an appointment with William. You won't be disappointed. more

My ""Super Salon"" in Andover 1/13/2012

I want to tell you about Philip Ciampa Salon in Andover. I go to Stylist Jaime Alvaraz and have had him color and cut my hair for over eight years. I find the people at Philip Ciampa friendly and helpful. I have purchased product in stock and had them order special products for me. They have tried to help me in every way. Now to Jaime -- He's not just my favorite stylist, he's a really nice guy!! He advises me about my haircut and is successful in finding a way to please me every time I go there. I really appreciate a salon that isn't pushy about their services and who has a stylist like Jaime who can listen and accomplish what I like every time. more

Joanne is not only the best hair dresser in her salon, but the probably the best hair dresser around here. I'm very indecisive, but Joanne was able to discuss and work me to figure out a plan of action when I wanted to change up my hairstyle. She was incredibly patience throughout all my questions and when the time came, her work was phenomenal. A witness to her dedication, Joanne treats each customer as the center of her attention, paying extremely close clare to every strand she cuts, and every piece she dyes. I could not recommend anyone better than Joanne of Philip Ciampa. You will not be disappointed. more

Joanne Is the Best! 11/30/2011

Joanne Melonas has been doing my hair for over Ten years. I am very particular about my hair, almost obsessive, and thank god she is also a perfectionist, because I trust her fully and always leave happy. She is truly an artist ! I frequently get stopped in the store etc , with compliments on my hair and women wanting to know where i got it done. I have tryed several salons, from Newburyport to Newbury St , and trust me there is no comparison. more

Joanne Melonas has been cutting my hair for 15+ years. She is truly the best. She was trained by Hiroshi of Beverly Hills in one of the most prestigious salons in Beverly Hills. Joanne is a perfectionist and continues to train and maintains her edge. You will not be disappointed. She takes her time and always makes sure your fully satisfied. A friend referred me to her after I received a traumatizingly short haircut from another salon. Joanne styled my hair as it grew out and it looked great every time. I've never looked back. I'm constantly asked who cuts my hair. I highly recommend her! more

When I first started going to Joanne (which was over 10 years ago), my hair was damaged. Not only was Joanne able to bring it back to life, but she also gave me the best haircut I've ever had. Consequently, I've never been able to go to someone else. Joanne is the whole package. With her extensive background and training, she brings a work of art in each haircut.
