Please don't listen to these negative reviews. These people are clearly out to bash the Pet Shop and pet shops of the like because they think these puppies come from puppy mills. ...

I wasn't in the market for a new pet. On Black Friday I had gone shopping with my mother and my daughter. We stopped in the pet store just to look around. That was until my daught...

8 Wonderful Puppies So Far 3/9/2011

My family has been purchasing our puppies from the pet shop in Whitehall for years. Between all our family we have purchased 8 of them and every one has been a joy. Our oldest is now 14 , a Shih-Tzu, and still thinks he is a puppy. Our son just purchased a Yorkie from them and would not go anywhere else. These people love their pets and the care they give them is evident. The only health issue any of us had was a cold that 2 of then had, but the pet shop paid for all the vet expenses to get rid if it. The waranties they give are unbelievable. more

up to date on shots 3/4/2011

Highly recomended!!!!!!!!!!: I purchased a puggle here and the staff treated the puppy like one of their own children, free first vet visit, all up to date on shots. They took extra time to explain everything to me and assured me to cal back with any questions!!!!!!!!!! more

No Problem Pets 11/29/2010

I purchased a shih-poo from The Pet Shop in Whitehall back on January 2006. He is the cutest dog I have ever had and there were no medical problems. I took him to my own vet and received a clean bill of health. If you feel you are getting the run around from the Pet Shop vet then spend the money and take the pet to your own vet. If you can spend the money to purchase the dog then spend the money on a reliable vet. more

Boycott this place 9/18/2010

I was walking past the window of this little shop of horrors yesterday and couldn't help but notice several of the baby puppies and kittens had NO WATER. The animals on display both in windows and on the shop floor had water bowls that were BONE DRY. One baby Corgi had a pile of dried diarrhea and vomit in its cage, and zero water or food. I asked one of the workers to please give one of the Dachshunds some water. After waiting about ten-minutes, she finally got around to it. When the puppy got his water, he drank for at least five-minutes straight. Prior to getting water, he was lethargic, and collapsed against the edge of the cage (not sleeping)! As soon as his water bottle was moved, he started pacing back and forth, and pawing at the gate. At this point, I started looking around at all the other puppies who had no water, filthy water, dried and caked old food in their dishes, and feces and urine coating the floors and their fur. Anyone who has purchased an animal from this place could easily deduce that if it was sickly, it could be a direct byproduct of malnourishment during this vital stage of development. Of course, coming from puppy mills, these poor babies have everything stacked against them. This place obviously puts profit over humane treatment of living, feeling baby animals, and should therefore be shut down. Call the Lehigh Valley Dog Warden, Humane Society, and SPCA to complain if you have had a similar experience. We as a society should not tolerate this blatant animal abuse. more

Lies, Lies, Lies 6/5/2010

I bought an Aussie from the pet shop in the whitehall mall on May 27, 2010. They claimed that the puppy was in good health and I needed to take her to their vet within ten days for an exam. That Tuesday I had an appointment with their vet in the evening, the puppy became extremely lathargic and would not eat or drink and was breathing very heavily. I notified the pet shop of this issue and got her into their vet right away. The puppy was kept in the hospital overnight and then sent home no better than she was when we took her in. Friday night, 8 days after we bought the dog, she was getting worse. We called the pet shop and spoke with the manager, Donna, and kept getting a run around. Their vet was closed and they refused to pay any bills that were not with their own vet. We could not take the puppy to the animal hospital on call or it would ruin the warranty. We got the puppy to their vet on Saturday morning and the doctor said that the puppy should have never been released after one day because she has severe phenomia. We called Donna about the ten day health warranty and again got nothing but attitude and a run around. Our ten days are up on a Sunday when there is no one to talk to about this situation. Donna has no compassion for pet owners or the pets. After talking with the doctor he informed me that they always fight when it comes to paying the vet bills and that the puppy was without a doubt sick when we purchased her. Now we have a puppy that we love that has a survival rate of a little more than 50% and the pet shop and Donna are doing nothing about it. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS STORE!!! They do not deserve animal lovers to give them their money. This will not be the last that they have to deal with. I am consulting an attorney first thing monday morning! Pros: great customer service before you purchase Cons: not willing to pay the vet bills when the dog was sick at ti more

why The Pet Shop is bad 6/4/2010

First off I am 11 years old and i can already say never, ever go there for your pet. We got two animals from the pet shop in Whitehall, the first one is a happy 2 year old orange tabby cat. no problems have occurred with him yet. Now with the puppy, she is a not-so-happy dog. Her name is Lexie. she is now 3 months old and started her life on the wrong foot. She was in the hospital for 1 day to many. She had a lot of fluids in her lungs. She was diagnosed with pneumonia. The Pet Shop covered the first bill as far as we know. However, she is still sick and when we called the pet shop, as directed, they gave us one heck of a time. after many stressful phone calls, to not just the Whitehall Mall location, but the Palmer Park Mall as well. So please take my experience and not make it your own. Do not feel the guilt of almost having to get rid of your animal. Please, please, please do not under any circumcises go to the dreadful Pet Shop. Pros: First animal was good Cons: problems with animal....you have major problems with co. more

Lifetime of health issues 9/15/2009

My husband and I bought a ratterrier from The Pet Store back in October of 1995. He was the most amazing dog we will ever have, but we are convinced he originated from a puppy mill. I say that as I have NEVER had a pet with more health problems than Toby. From several types and boughts of cancer to a ruptured gall bladder to kidney, pancreas, and liver failure he was almost always sick throughout his life. While he lived to be 13 years old, I believe without the amazing veterinarian care he received his life would have been much shorter. Please think twice before purchasing a pet from a pet store. Yes, it is hard to resist the impulse buy, the sad looks on their faces, and the irresistible puppy breath, but every dollar that goes into their cash register promotes more and more inhumane puppy mill operations. Think of the countless animals waiting for homes in the shelters or purebred rescue homes. Please give them a chance. more

Don't Support Puppy Mills 8/2/2009

We just had to euthanize our puppy we bought from The Pet Shop after only 22 months. You are supporting sub quality breeding and puppy mills if you buy from a pet store. Stop PUPPY MILL Breeding! Cons: Sub Quality Dogs more

Puppy mill puppies, anyone? 5/31/2009

Disgusting. I didn't dare purchase anything from the store, just being in there made me feel ill. Most of the animal's enclosures were dirty and inadequate (I saw three ferrets shoved in an aquarium of all things), not to mention the puppy mill puppies they sell in the store. If you hate puppy mills and animal neglect/abuse, steer clear of this store. Do not give them your money, you're only supporting their poor practices and the puppy mills they get their puppies from. Pros: None I can think of. Cons: Sickly, mill bred animals. more

2 AWESOME DOGS IN 13 YEARS 5/24/2009

I've read the 5/6 reviews here..today, 5/25/09, we'll be bringing home our new little love from these folks. We bought our last dog ther 12 yrs. ago He passed on last year. Now, we're ready so we went back to them. For $25 refundable $$$, you get 24 hrs to THINK, PRAY & research. I found the actual breeders, confirmed their standings. Too many ppl. impulse-buy a cute, furry little friend & 1st sign of trouble? PUPPY MILL! You have warranties up the wazoo w/ these folks! Do YOUR part w/ vet checks & research; & if your dog goes blind in an eye? It happens....could happen to anyone. You don't stay in business & thrive like these folks if you're not reputable. The only problems I see here are folks not taking responsibility to research what they're buying. Pros: Easy to get info. from, clean, knowledgable staff Cons: Pricey pups, but the going rate more

happy healthy pet 4/6/2009

snickers is a healthy and happy pet from the moment we picked him up from the pet shop. we love him dearly and would go back to get him a playmate tommorrow. If it was so horrible why buy a second animal? Breeders rarely sell their dogs to pet stores, no proffit that way. So what did you expect? more

The Pet Shop 12/4/2007

Never would buy from them again, experience was very bad. They sent a detective from the police department to check on a animal that was stolen from their store months ago, even though they had records on who purchased from them. VERY BAD customer relations. I got proof if the owner wants to claim people trying to demeen their reputaion. Also never got a health certificate or birth certificate for a animal over a 1,000.00 dollars. Go to Petsmart, they are great people with papers to back their animals up with and Animal House, they stand behind their pets 100% ! more

Facts, Facts, Facts 9/28/2007

Today, Feb 14, 2011 I have just seen and read the posting below entitled Lies, Lies, Lies. The internet is a wonderful medium for people to gather information but, unfortunately, it can also be used to unfairly misrepresent facts with the intent of damaging business or personal reptatiions. The Lies, Lies, Lies posting was such an attempt and, as the owner of The Pet Shop, I must respond with the actual facts. Pros: Great customer service...and the best pets more

Absolutely Horrible 6/13/2007

My dog groomer has been in the dog business for almost 20 years. Recently her beloved pitbull died and when she encountered one at pet shop at the Whitehall Mall she immediately fell in love and purchased the pup at $3,000. After a few days she noticed something wasn't quite right and took him to the vet, apparently he was suffering from leukemia. They paid for cancer treatments however the puppy passed away just 19 days after they purchased it. The store refused to refund my groomer so she and her husband sued and were restituted the almost $10,000 they spent on the sick dog. I just wanted to warn anyone else who was considering purchasing a pet at the Whitehall Mall pet shop and think that this story should be public knowledge. more
