Feel like I rescued....BUYER BEWARE!!! 5/2/2011

I agree with other when they say they feel they've rescued as opposed to purchased. I figured that at a certain price point your almost guaranteed a healthy animal, but boy was I wrong. Pet fashion (PF) looks clean, the animals look happy & the staff is great while you’re making a purchase. I purchased a white male Chihuahua 2.5 months old mid-April. He’s adorable not your typical noisy chi (great temperament) but I’m not sure he’ll live long. Goggling his dog breeder I found a number of violations that would have led me not to purchase if I’d known beforehand. As soon as I brought the little guy home he started coughing, sneezing, gagging, and showed signs of worms/blood in his stool – this was just the 1st wk. Took him to PF’s vet(1st visit’s “comped”) - puppy was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection, got meds (PF said they would reimburse), and asked by their vet to bring a stool sample sometime that week (charged $100 for visit) – ouch!. I was told by their vet to come back in a week. \r \r 2nd Vet visit: Results of sample - puppy tested positive for Giardia (vet contacted PF, and PF agreed to provide meds for treatment because its expensive to treat). I mentioned to vet other symptoms weren’t clearing up but vet said dog was healthy so I couldn’t throw lemon law at PF. Same visit Dr. slipped in shots he didn’t mention the dog would be getting and a course of Revolution – charged $150 2x ouch!! \r \r Headed straight over to PF with both weeks bills, I didn’t expect them to pay for shots, but did expect the 1st weeks meds, stool sample and the recheck visit to be reimbursed. Staff member Anna copied my receipts and told me “corporate” would get back to me but probably wouldn’t reimburse the stool sample b/c it was “optional” nor the recheck. When asked why “corporate would agree to treat but not reimburse for the test that was requested (by their vet) to determine PF was responsible for treatment, and why they wouldn’t pay for the follow-up visit their vet requested? Anna, only replied “corporate” will contact you. It’s been over a week and I haven’t heard from “corporate”, surprise surprise ?.\r \r I’ve never owned a puppy before so I kinda blame myself for the predicament I'm in now, didn’t do any research and was pressure by a fast sale and a friend with a soft spot for four legged creatures.\r \r Save yourself money & a headache - if you want a sick dog to nurse, adopt/rescue one.\r more

Sick Puppies 2/5/2011

PLEASE ADOPT! These puppies are from puppy mills. My pup was very sick a few days after I bought him. After several visits to the vet and about $1000 later he is better. I sort of feel like I rescued my dog from this place.... except I paid for him. Let's try to put these kind of place out of business and protect the puppies. Look into adoption and pet-rescues! more

do not buy a puppy here 11/17/2010

No matter what they say, the dogs do not come from breeders, because real breeders care to make sure their puppies are healthy. Their puppies are sick and they dont own up to it, hiding behind a clause in their contract. Instead research a reliable source, we found one in Manhattan. more

Do not trust, they sell sick dogs! 11/2/2010

Bought a puppy from this pet shop and a week later the puppy was extremly sick. They didnt want to take responsibility or follow new york state pet lemon law. Poor management skills, they don't care for customers satisfaction. I have heard many other sad stories... Please be careful when purchasing a puppy from this store or please adopt a pup instead. more

i bought an american eskimo here 8/9/2010

I purchased a puppy recently from this place and the dog had a slight cough but let me tell you, the staff was ridiculous helpful and very involved in their work, seemed to be very knowledgable and helpful and loving their job.\r people need to understand that puppies are babies and get sick very easy! when bringing a pup home they get stressed and any underlying conditions will come out when they go to a new environment.\r people below don't appear to know the lemon law in full. READ UP so you know your real rights and responsibilties in order to get your proper and due reimbursment. pet stores are governed by a lot of rules and laws, they wouldnt be in buisness if they were truly selling sick puppies. if they were the dept of agriculture would have shut them down by now.\r I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO EVERYONE.\r \r also remember, every buisness gets complaints dont let just a few be a turn off. go visit the place yourself. more

in 2008 i purchased my first shitzue boy he was a bit hard to train but i called the store several times for assistance and they help me through the training process (the advise they gave worked) it was pretty funny there were times i remember calling the staff and we became on a first name basis I just recently purchased a second puppy from them of course another male shitzue i wanted oreo my male shitzue to have a playmate I didnt hesitate even though i had a difficult time with oreo""s training for the first month I figured the second time it would be easier 1 because i had the experience and new what to expect and 2 i had a great experience with the pet store. my two pups oreo and bently get along great and the training the second time was much easier i think oreo did all the training this time around and actually thats extacly what the pet store said i didnt quite think that would be possible but i witness it for myself i have two great boys and would recommend pet fashion boutique any day to freinds family or strangers. Pros: helpful, friendly, knowledgeable Cons: busy needs more staff more

A bunch of Cons 5/23/2010

I went into the store to take a look at some pups. My husband fell in love with a pug and I decided to ask some questions before I purchased the pup. I wanted a pup that was good with kids and was okay with hot weather because we were moving to Florida. One sales woman said that the pug was great for hot weather. So without me doing any proper research I took her advice and bought the pup. That night I found out that it wasn't true. I immediately returned to the store and I was told that I was able to change the pup to another. I took a female beagle this time. I noticed at the store that her eyes were red and one of the sales people were telling me that it was from her playing with the other pups. The next day I noticed that the pup kept rubbing her eyes. I took her to a vet that was close by and he told me to take the pup back immediately because she had a contagious eye infection that could have been passed on to my young daughters ages 7 years, 3 years and 7 months old. I returned to the store and was told that the pup had to be seen by their vet. I complied and was then told the same thing by their vet. I asked for a refund because I was so upset that I was sold a pup with a contagious infection. The store owner was called and the Owner told me that she was not going to refund my money. She was very rude and told me that I was over reacting. She asked to speak to the vet at the store to confirm that the infection was contagious. After about a half hour, the vet returned to me and told me that the infection could be treated and the pup could have been returned as soon as she was healed. I refused and ask to be refunded my money. The Store Owner then again refused and told me to please choose another pup. I paid $1700 for the first pup and I was never given the rest of my money back for the other pup that was a lower price. I was so angry. Cons: Untrustworthy and have no type of business moral more

DON'T BUY A PUPPY HERE 5/9/2010

I got my puppy here and she DIED the morning after I picked her up. They refused to reimburse us, which is against NY State Pet Lemon Law. We took them to court and won and they still haven't paid. They tried to blame us and had not one ounce of sympathy...instead were rude and unprofessional. We found out my dog had parvovirus...she had been in there store for a week before I got her, and was sick the entire time. An employee there told me ""she's an ideal dog, she sleeps all day and you don't even have to walk her."" Meanwhile, she was just sick. They also falsely advertise puppies as ""AKC"" when in fact they are ""ACA"" or ""ACC"", which are not reputable kennel clubs. Their dogs come from puppy mills..all of them who live in poor conditions, and most of them sick. PLEASE DON'T BUY FROM PET STORES, ADOPT A DOG INSTEAD. I HAD TO LEARN THIS THE HARD WAY. more

Do not trust this store. 4/25/2010

Do not trust this pet shop. They sold me a very sick puppy. The puppy has Pneumonia and some kind of fungus infection in the lungs. I spent $6,000 for medication and animal hospital bills. I have taken them to court. So please stay away from them. They abuse the animals. more
