I agree with other when they say they feel they've rescued as opposed to purchased. I figured that at a certain price point your almost guaranteed a healthy animal, but boy was I wrong. Pet fashion (PF) looks clean, the animals look happy & the staff is great while you’re making a purchase. I purchased a white male Chihuahua 2.5 months old mid-April. He’s adorable not your typical noisy chi (great temperament) but I’m not sure he’ll live long. Goggling his dog breeder I found a number of violations that would have led me not to purchase if I’d known beforehand. As soon as I brought the little guy home he started coughing, sneezing, gagging, and showed signs of worms/blood in his stool – this was just the 1st wk. Took him to PF’s vet(1st visit’s “comped”) - puppy was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection, got meds (PF said they would reimburse), and asked by their vet to bring a stool sample sometime that week (charged $100 for visit) – ouch!. I was told by their vet to come back in a week. \r
\r
2nd Vet visit: Results of sample - puppy tested positive for Giardia (vet contacted PF, and PF agreed to provide meds for treatment because its expensive to treat). I mentioned to vet other symptoms weren’t clearing up but vet said dog was healthy so I couldn’t throw lemon law at PF. Same visit Dr. slipped in shots he didn’t mention the dog would be getting and a course of Revolution – charged $150 2x ouch!! \r
\r
Headed straight over to PF with both weeks bills, I didn’t expect them to pay for shots, but did expect the 1st weeks meds, stool sample and the recheck visit to be reimbursed. Staff member Anna copied my receipts and told me “corporate” would get back to me but probably wouldn’t reimburse the stool sample b/c it was “optional” nor the recheck. When asked why “corporate would agree to treat but not reimburse for the test that was requested (by their vet) to determine PF was responsible for treatment, and why they wouldn’t pay for the follow-up visit their vet requested? Anna, only replied “corporate” will contact you. It’s been over a week and I haven’t heard from “corporate”, surprise surprise ?.\r
\r
I’ve never owned a puppy before so I kinda blame myself for the predicament I'm in now, didn’t do any research and was pressure by a fast sale and a friend with a soft spot for four legged creatures.\r
\r
Save yourself money & a headache - if you want a sick dog to nurse, adopt/rescue one.\r
