Pep Boys

If you go to this Pep Boys shop you are crazy. Had a charging problem. took it in - they charge $14.95 for charging system evaluation. ok no problem. Found altenator was not producing full voltage - ok. $196 for the part and $100 to put it in ( sits on top of the motor) - while taking it apart, they found the belt tensioner had no spring in it? ( how was it holding the belt tight?) needed to be replace - ok. Anyhow after having my car over night and in their shop for what would 12hours of their shop time. I get a call it is ready and will be $492.00 REALLY? well to find out the tensioner and install was a bit more than the $70.00 for part and installation I was quoted. - they ended up through fancy accounting to get my total with all their shop fees to $396. I paid it and left. got home and was looking over the bill and was charged $9.99 for brake inspection. I called Pep Boys customer relations. explained what had happened - they did this work - charged me all this money - did 3 evalu more

I went to the Wadsworth location to have a problem fixed with my vehicle, I scheduled an appointment online and was not told that it was canceled. When I arrived at that location I was told that they could not help me, when I asked the woman behind the counter what I should do I was again told very rudely that they could not help me. When I again asked what I should do she looked at me like I was a total idiot and said that they could not help me and they would not help me. When I finally got an answer as to where I could go to get this very serious problem fixed all she kept saying was that they would not help me. All i can say is that with the money I have spent there I could have been told where to take my vehicle and not have been told several times that they can't help me. So you want to be treated like a complete idiot then go there and the woman behind the counter will do just that. more

I don't know a lot about cars, or pricing for that \r matter, but on the rare occasion I do call around to find the best deal in town pep boys consistantly has the lowest price. \r \r The customer service is incredible-I have an older car and usually walk in with some vague problem and they spend hours trying to isolate it. I only pay for the actual replacement part and labor of installation, not the time spent "figuring it out." \r \r These guys are awesome, I'll keep coming here. more

Over a year ago I went here for tires - attracted by the buy 3 get the 4th free. The manager at the time was so rude - I nearly left half way through the job. My hopes had been that I would buy tires where I could go for an oil change & get free rotation.\r \r A little over a year later I returned to the same location, hoping the manager had been changed. I believe he had. The new guy, Tim said he was now the manager (though another guy was pictured on the sign). Tim said they brought him in due to complaints & he proudly said they were now the number one store in Colorado. I will say he was polite & accomodating - but in the end that really doesn't matter.\r \r This time I went in for oil change. alignment & tire rotation (as there was some bad wear on the tires). They completed the oil change, but guess what "they found something else wrong."\r \r They found a loose tie rod when they attempted the alignment. To their credit the INNER TIE ROD was loose.
