I have read the reviews regarding Pelican Pools and I thought it necessary to post my review of another risky company. Please take note, if you should consider All Phase Pool Remodeling for your pool project, be extremely cautious with these people. Record EVERYTHING when the sales rep. comes out to your home to give you a bid. He will not write it down on the bid sheet, but will tell you that certain things are ALWAYS included with a pool remodel. Then you will notice it was never done, and of course, the sales rep will tell you he never said that! The owner of the company is just another extremely dishonest person. I am currently fighting this with the BBB, and the owner has even lied to them! My new pool surface looks like a moon landing, and it has to be redone! The owner has ignored my requests to do so. Lucky for me, the job is still open and I have not paid them the full amount because they still have to put a second coat on the decking. These incidents with Pool companys makes them all look like a risk. It's really time for as many people as possible to stand up and take note of how dishonest most of them are. Bottom line is, if you should consider All Phase when remodeling your pool, it is a colossal risk! Cover yourself carefully, get everything in writing before the job starts, take pictures as they are doing the work, or better yet, just steer clear of this company, they are bad, bad news, and more so, the quality of work they provide is well below industry standards. I am the wife of a subcontractor and I cannot tell you the effect this situation has had on us. Our company has done work for Butch Eaton for years and have known him personally for 18 years our children hung out together and the way we found out that we were not getting paid the 14,000 plus dollars owed to us but the personal loan he took out from us 2 years ago was not going to be paid either. He hasn't even had the decency to pick up the phone and call and actually speak to my husband to explain himself. This has affected our family more than you can imagine. My husband doesn't sleep or eat worried how we are going to make ends meet. My husband is a decent honest HARDWORKING man who trusted Butch and the week before he sent his letters out worked on several more pools for him when I am sure Butch knew what was coming down the pipe. We are having to sell some of the most important things to us in order to pay the bills. Our children are suffering in more ways than I can tell you. Butch is sitting high on the hog trust me. Ask him about the bank over in South America that he hides money in so he doesn't have to pay taxes on gambling money he wins over there. Butch this message is for you. ""I believe that everyone answers for there sins. Whether its here on earth or when you face your maker. I would hate to be you on that day. You need to find it in yourself to face what you have done instead of running like a scared rabbit. You will face it one way or the other whether its in a court of law or by the Lord our God, then you will suffer like you have made all of us suffer. My advice. Come clean. Stop being so greedy. Face what you have done and try at least try to make it right. Think about it""!!!!!!!!!!!!!! more

I heard all of the same. My pool redo got finished but with loose ends that I had to take care of myself. I feel lucky but I too received letters from suppliers thirty days after I paid the final payment which makes me think that I have a problem too. I also have a friend that this happened too a year ago in jax. The outcome is the homeower pays. Theres got to be property that he owns we could put liens on. I would like to be included in any support meetings you all may have. more

Same as the rest of you, we also have been stolen by Butch Eaton around 25 k and in addition started receiving some notice to owners from subcontractors. I believe that the group affected by Pelican Pools should meet to start a joint effort against Butch Eaton I have heard there are about 18 houses involved. I am new in the USA and can not believe that by the simple fact of filing for Bankruptcy a thief that misappropriated our money can be free and happy after what he did to us. lets meet and fight for our rights. more

Same as the rest of you folks, we've been stolen out of about 25K due to this thief. Halitosis infected scurge of the earth has really made our life a misery. He's a compulsive gambler as I've heard from 10 other people, lost his pants during ""March Madness"" with our money. His Son is a total moron, who he let's do all his work. They haven't filed bankruptcy yet and I have hired a PI to ensure that they are not digging again. I am not going down but up. This man will pay for his actions in a court of law and he will NEVER dig another hole. His Dad is rolling in his grave. God Bless You you damn thief. more

Butch Eaton of pelican pools has ripped off many of us in this community. If you are one of us then lets meet and compare notes. This guy deserves jail time! We have several liens on our property from sub contractors that where not paid. Worst human being I have ever seen in my life. more

We hired this thief in January feeling good about our decision. Too bad we never checked the ""real"" reviews. He was charming on the sale but there were harbingers. He talked about his gambling habits and his hard luck medical crap. He told us he's 100% on top of each job. Then his snot nosed son came over during the preview and didn't even greet me ""the payer."" more

I am brand new to City Search and yes I was asked by Butch from Pelican pools to post a review. I am only saying this so that I can set the record straight as to my experience with Butch and John and Sharon. I had never met Butch prior to the day he came to sell me a pool, he was the second of 3 builders I looked at, he did a great job on selling my wife and I the pool, so we decided to use him. Fisrt off when it came to contracting the pool, he was upfront and stated that sprinklers are not his responsibilty, they would just cut the line and cap them only. He and his crew moved and replanted two semi mature live oak trees where I wanted them placed, FREE OF CHARGE. Not once did he lie to me and through the entire process he was up front. Now of course the construction took a month longer than it was supposed to but what construction company ever comes in on time (my house being built took 4 months more than it was supposed to). I fixed my sprinklers before thy had finished digging for the pump and they broke my new sprinker lines, I called Butch and John was out the next morning fixing it and apologizing. I have had my pool for 6 months now and enjoy all my time in it, if I ever have a problem , I just call Butch or Sharon and they help me to no end, including coming to my house and showing me how to do something I forgot or dropping off chemicals. My wife takes our water to their shop all the time and when Sharon says we need chemicals, she doesn't try to sell them to us (even though they are in stock), she just tells us what we need. I know this is a long review but I would just like it known that my experience was/is great with them. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the pool took longer than originally projected. more

Choose your pool company carefully, unfortunately I did not. I did look at three local companies here in St. Augustine and went with Pelican Pools. Butch did a nice job selling us a pool, but just like the other reviews have said, once you sign the contract and write the first check things change. Phone calls will not be returned, time-lines will not be kept, more money will be asked for, and certified letters threatening legal action will be sent to you because Pelican does not pay their contractors on time. more

Looks like Pelican Pools has been posting fake reviews to pump up the rating. Lets take a closer look at the data: *In the previous TWO years from 11/21/08 to 11/23/10 they had a TOTAL of 3 reviews (two of those are 1 star) *Pelican has TEN 5 star reviews from 1/29/11 to 2/25/11 (Less than 1 month... no way). *These 5 star reviewers are ALL first time reviewers. These guys know that they are not doing a good enough job to get real 5 star reviews, so they fake them. Don't fall for it. I'm still trying to get them to honor our contract over a year after my pool was completed. STAY AWAY! more

My wife and I had a pool built by Pelican and we are happy with how the pool turned out. We were happy with the hard working team of guys they had working on our pool, even if it did take them several weeks longer that they had originally said it would. The reason we give them only 1 star is because once you give them the final payment, they couldn't care less about you. We have had SEVERAL issues since the completion of our pool, and each time it gets increasingly more difficult to get a response from anyone at the company. It is very frustrating. This lack of service after the sale is inaccessible in our opinion. more

We need to find someone who has paid them a downpayment and no work has been done. Please email me at the address below. We are not paying anyone until we figure this out. do not believe anyone. Butch is a liar! I caught him in several lies now. He Does not pay his sub-contractors on time. The communication is terrible and there was no one from Pelican on-site when sub-contractors where done with there work to see how the work was. Please do not use this pool company. I would challenge anyone who commented here that said they had a great experience with them. There is no way he has any satisfied customers this year. I am an extremely satisfied customer of Pelican Pools. From the beginning process of designing our pool we were impressed with Pelican Pools. They walked us through ever step of the process and the pool we dreamed about was even more beautiful than we imagined. Butch and his crew were professional, yet personal. I would reccommend Pelican Pools to anyone! more

Who is Pelican Pool?s kidding with these last 10 posts. They must think the people of St. Johns County and Florida are idiots and morons to fall for these self-posted reviews. Just look at the dates, they are all within a few days of each other. The true reviews are the ones given by actual customers like myself, and they are not flattering. Yes I hate to admit it, but I did fall for there ?3-D? pool imagery, and I wish I had not. Instead of being concerned about their customers and quality of their product, Butch and John at Pelican Pools are sitting in their office or on their smart phone leaving fake reviews to try and quell the growing disappointment in their customer service. I truly hope Pelican Pools gets the message; however, if these fake reviews they are leaving are any indication of the morality and future of this company, I am not holding my breath. Use another pool company. more

Overall we are very pleased with the pool that Pelican built for us. It was finished in Dec 2010. We did experience some delays during the build process, but Butch was having some health issues. Honestly, we did get frustrated more then once... but more important then being on time, was that they did an excellent job, and that they responded to our needs, and that was definatly the case! We interviewed several companies before choosing Pelican and they surely gave us the best deal. The workmanship on the pool itself so far seems to be superb! Butch and his team followed thru on everything they promised during the build. And now that the pool is finished, they have STILL been there for us. They have been very patient and extreemly helpful each week as I bring in my water to be tested. This is our first time caring for a pool, so we are learning, and Pelical is really holding our hand thru the process. Butch has come out on several occasions since completion to answer questions for us ""newbys"". Just recently, we had a powerhead thing crack (on our built in cleaner) and Butch came right out and replaced it, no cost to us. Some of the reviews Ive read seem a little scarey, but other then a few delays, we did not have any of those terrible experiences. I would definatly use Pelican again, and would highly suggest you give them a shot if you are in the market. more

Well, we interviewed 7 pool builders and thought we had the best deal with Pelican. Boy, were we... amazed! Butch & Johnny Eaton delivered on everything they said. During the construction process, Pelican had owners on site, coordinated both their subcontractors and ours for ancillary work. They accomodated our schedule and worked around issues and changed conditions initiated by us crazy homeowners. No requests for changes nor delays that were out of their control. All this while they had a 6-figure pool job starting up nearby; we still got individual attention. Now almost 2 years in, we have enjoyed our outdoor oasis year-round and Pelican has been readily available whenever issues arose, although we have been virtually trouble free. The entire project is as beautiful today as it was the day we made final payment. Do NOT build a pool without giving these guys a shot. more

We have had 2 pools built by Pelican Pools. The first in the 90's and most recently at our newer home.We have always had a professional and good relationship with Butch and John as well as everyone else in the company. Both pools were done on schedule and budget. Had a slight problem with our present pool , they were there the next day and the problem taken care of immediately,( although from no fault of their's) and at no cost to us. We have given recommendations in the past and will continue to do so when asked. more

I used Pelican Pools to install my pool and screen house when my house was being built. A few years later, I had them enlarge my pool deck and screen house. I also had them replace my pool filter pump when it developed normal wear & tear problems. more

What a wonderful experience it was having our pool built by Pelican Pools. We did our homework and got several bids but we finally decided to go with Pelican Pools because we felt Butch was very knowledgeable about all aspects of building a pool. He answered all our questions and concerns and helped us design and build the pool we've always dreamed of. We were especially impressed by the 3-D pictures that showed what the pool would look in our backyard. It gave us a clearer perspective of what the overall finished product would look like and we loved it. My family and I enjoy our backyard paradise so much that we take a lot of ""stay-cations"" in our own backyard retreat. We are just thrilled with our pool and are very satisfied and pleased with how Butch made the whole process a wonderful experience from start to finish. more
