We wanted to hire a company that really listened to what we wanted in a pool. Pelican Pools deigned a pool that was incredible. They included all the bells and whistles! During construction they were great and very professional. We have extended our backyard into a beautiful outdoor living space. The pool is just breathtaking and we love spending time on our pool patio! We can't wait until summer! Pelican Pools can really design and build a one of a kind pool! more

We were very impressed with Butch's presentation. We researched alot of info about pools and felt his was the best value. The pool took a while to complete, but he told us that from the beginning. Unfortunately, Butch experienced health problems and the pool took longer than even we expected. I have to say, they responded to our phone calls and did come whenever we called. The enitre project turned out beautiful and we are very happy with the finished product. more

For years my husband talked about getting a pool. I finally said to him "" what are you waiting for if you want to enjoy it."" We built our pool last winter and could not be happier. We spoke to many different companies and the presentation given by Butch far surpassed anyone else. I won't say that it was not a frustrating experience, as any big project would be, but Butch , John, Sharon, and the rest of the crew handled it well and always responded to our calls. Recently we had some spots surface all around the pool. We called and Butch came out to the house. He said he wasn't sure what caused it because he had not seen it before but assured us it would be taken care of, It has and we are not ready for warm weather to arrive so we can enjoy our second season. From the design phase, contract signing, construction and the finished product, it was a pleasure and a thoroughly professional experience every step of the way. I had never been so disappointed. The owner was so great at the beginning, then he changed into another person once we handed over the first check. It was the most unprofessional company that I ever had the experience to work with. The people working for him were nice, but 90% are contractors that are not affiliated with Pelican and they ""really"" talk trash about the owner and how bad of a businessman he is. I only wish I had done more research before signing with Pelican. The experience was awful for our whole family. The only promises they make, are broken promises. My advice........ Use ANYONE else. Dig it yourself! Buyer beware with this company. more

My heart goes out to all of the families, of both customers and suppliers, affected by this. We had the absolute worst experience and tried to post everywhere we could think of. I believe the first signs of this was in the summer of 2010. We had even interviewed a recent customer before signing. They were supposed to finish in August They never ""officially"" signed off on our pool, we made it clear that they were not getting our last $2k when they still weren't complete in December and we received a notice from a subcontractor. We held the final payment over Butch's head until the subcontractor called and verified that he was paid. They never showed up again. While there are postings about his son John, we could see the relationship there. He was put in a very bad place and in over his head while his dad pulled the strings and was creating a financial nightmare. Towards the end John had to know something, however, and should have stood up. Late in the game, we had heard about Butch's gambling problems, and mentioned it to one of his workers when they came by; his reaction validated it for us. I'm glad there were criminal charges filed, as I do believe he stole the money and gambled it away. Our pool was about $40k. Even 18 pools paying only 1/2 down would have been $360k. Pool builders use your money to pay for the materials on the next pool, with that many pools in the ground, you don't go bankrupt, you steal the money. Good luck to everyone.
