Best

the Pavilion movie theater started on a rough edge... BUT in April, the theater became a miracle. It became cleaner advanced and VERY unique with the imax screen including new CLE...

Worst

Since the Pavilion on Flatbush underwent renovations, I generally head to the Southwest end of Prospect Park if I'm aching for B-movie satisfaction. The Pavilion (which is cattyco...

Good 10/13/2008

I used to go there every weekend, but after I moved I found better places to watch movies, it's also nice becuase it's near the park. Pros: nice because its near the park Cons: small screens more

Noisy Noisy Noisy Noisy Noisy 7/31/2008

I stopped going here last winter. I got too tired of not being able to hear the film. There are not only children, but adults that chatter through all the movies. There was even a man on his cell phone making calls throughout one film. And forget about ushers or whatever, they don't do anything. I wasn't asking for much; I was fine with the funky velvet purple seats, sticky floors, poor seating layouts, and overpriced concessions & tickets. All I wanted was to be able to sit through a movie uninterrupted. You can do better than this place. more

The Pavilion is not so bad 7/23/2008

It's small but still has everything you need to enjoy a movie. Ask for fresh popcorn, remember you used to be a teenager too, make sure you get a confirmation email when you order online, and don't be so picky about how big the screen is, yes it's still much larger than your TV. Pros: Convenient location cozy setting. Cons: Not a multiplex. more

Avoid at All Costs 7/20/2008

Yesterday, I went to see the new Batman film at Park Slope Pavillion. Every screening of Batman was selling out. The Park Slope Pavillion knew that hundreds of people would be racing there to see Batman. In Brooklyn it was very hot (96?F). Pros: Sauna Cons: No Air Conditioning in the Summer more

Yesterday, I went to see the new Batman film at Park Slope Pavillion. Every screening of Batman was selling out. The Park Slope Pavillion knew that hundreds of people would be racing there to see Batman. In Brooklyn it was very hot (96?F). To save money, this owner of this dump refuses to turn on the air conditioner. The owner forces the staff to act like the AC is being repaired. This is the 2nd time I have been there this month and an usher came out and apologized to the crowd about the AC problem, pretending it was a new, sudden, and unexpected problem. Movie tickets are too expensive to put up with the Park Slope Pavillion. Pros: Sauna Cons: No Air Conditioning in the Summer more

Slumlord run Theatre 7/5/2008

I never knew anyone to not take pride in something they own. The owners of the Pavilion are like slumlords that take advantage of people. They wanted to own a theatre but it seems they don't really want to run it. They hire young inexperienced people to "run" the theatre for them. I have seen rodents in the theatre and even felt some run across my toes. The staff are rude, their concession stand selection is bad, and the only thing good is their favored popcorn toppings. If you get fresh popcorn you are lucky its often stale. It even comes with a side of teenage angst. The seats are often broken and the screening rooms are really small. I hate it but its close by. I also hated the fortway but at least it was bigger than the screening rooms at the pavillion. Pros: popcorn flavoring Cons: everything else more

Is like having your own movie theatre 6/13/2008

Everytime I'm in the mood of watching a nice movie I take a minute walk. On a weekend you can take your kids to the park and then end it up with a nice movie. I never had a problem with the staff and / or anything else. Projection and sound are digital, price is fair, they always show the better movies and is just across home. Its a friendly movie theatre not an opera. I've found in every movie theatre in the city some of the same concerns mentioned in other reviews about this place. If you ever find a broken seat just don't sit there and find a better spot, usually there is plenty of chairs to choose from since it is usually not that crowded. more

Worst Theater 5/29/2008

It is already so expensive to go to the movie theater these days. Why would you spend money to have a bad experience? Don't go to this theater. It is dirty, the chairs are broken, the theaters are small, and the staff are awful. I've been there twice and both times were awful. I'd rather travel to the UA sheepshead bay, even though I hate wasting the gas... Basically, go at your own risk to the Pavilion. Pros: Close to my house Cons: EVERYTHING ELSE! more

Total dump 4/26/2008

Sorry, but it's true- this place is just the absolute worst. Rude staff, horrible theaters, broken seats- you name it. And NEVER trust the online movie times- or even which movies are playing. As long as you're prepared it can be kind of funny though- it's like they're actually trying to be awful. Cons: You name it. more

Not so bad 1/23/2008

I am suprised with these comments from everyone else so I decided i'd put my input too. The theatre itself was kind of nice. It has an old fasioned feel to it and it is nicely decorated. The staff I do agree is a bit unprofessional. I realized that now after reading the other comments and reflecting back on my experience. I've been there about 3 times and I did not see any virmen. But I assure you if I did/do I will raise hell. Pros: Close to home, accesable, best movie selection. Cons: Small, horrible staff. more

Not Sure What The Big Deal Is? 6/2/2007

I have been a part of this neighborhood for the past 34 years and a patron of this theater for the past 10. I have never had any issues with the staff or the other guests at this theater. Yes, there are young people that work at the theater and they do not display the same level of professionalisms as the staff at my favorite 5 Star restaurant in NYC, but do we really expect a young adult to deliver the same level of service that we would receive in a 5 Star eatery. The few times I have spoken with management at the theater they have always been friendly and addressed my needs and concerns. I recently attended a viewing of Spiderman and found people walking into the move halfway through just standing in the back making noise, when I addressed this to management a security person from the theater was dispatched and cleared the back of the room so we could all continue to enjoy the movie. At the end of the day this is a small local movie theater with some small screens and some larger screens and a neighborhood feel. Honestly, do we truly need more then a comfortable seat and some hot popcorn to enjoy an almost 100 year old American tradition? Pros: Small theaters feel more personal, concession service fast, responsive management Cons: Theaters could be cleaned better between shows more

Worst experience I have had in a theatre 5/14/2007

This theatre allows adults to bring infants into movies where they scream and carry on the whole time. You could get out if you were able to remove your feet from the gunky, sticky floor full of soda and candy. A brown crawling thing which I am not allowed to "name" on herewas crawling up the chair in front of us and the theatre was so small, my living room would have been bigger. DONT waste your money, head for the UA more
