Great service, classic deli food, 10/6/2010

If you're looking for an old-fashioned deli (not kosher), this is it. Been in the same place, run the same way for decades. It's a standard in our family. My daughter and husband go for the chicken soup with matzoh balls. or the bagels and nova loz. or the huge corn beef/pastrami sandwiches. or the pickle bar. And there's usually enough left over from your meal to take home and have another meal! more

My favorite! 2/9/2007

The Parkway is my favorite local deli/diner-- great to take friends from out of state who have never had blintzes and potato latkes before. The waitstaff is polite but brusque, although if one of your guests asks what an Egg Cream is, they may bring you one for no charge just so you can say you've had the experience. Don't miss the applesauce (homemade), anything made out of potatoes, and--my favorite--the brisket. more

I love me some chopped liver... 5/12/2006

So the title may not sound appetizing to you, but the last time I had chopped liver was from a place in Philly. I've finally found it again at this place and I just love it! Trust me -- get the pastrami, corned beef and chopped liver sandwich on toasted rye. In general, the sandwiches are good, as well as the Matzo Ball soup. I thought the potato pancakes leave something to be desired. It's probably not the best Jewish Deli, but it's pretty good and for the D.C. area that may be saying a lot. more

Best, authentic deli - worth the trip! 4/10/2006

I've been going to this place for 15 years now, but I'm not sure how long they've been around. You walk in to a shop which sells wine, has a mini bakery, and sells pre-made dishes from the restaurant. As you continue back, you enter the restaurant area. Typically, you have to get in line as this place is SO popular that there's often a wait on the weekends. Their matzo ball soup is fabulous and their sandwiches are equally wonderful. They have a pickle bar with just about every pickle imaginable that you can help yourself to regardless of what you order. The wait staff is not very personable, but that's part of the place's charm. more
