great service...I was hesitant about going there for contacts after reading mskin's review... but since i lived nearby - i figured I'd give it a shot... I had a very thorough exam and purchased contact lenses from them... a week later I was having a problem.. I went back and they refit me... 2 weeks later I still had a problem... I went back again, and again they gave me a diff brand... and didn't charge me for their time... I can see so clearly now...I can understand the patient mskim being upset ... but be real... most items you buy have a 30 or 90 day warranty... 6 months is pushing it... \r I highly recommend park west vision, the service was fantastic !! \r the Dr. and Staff were most accommodating to me... \r I went back and bought a very cool pair of sunglasses too,and they were pretty inexpensive compared to other optical stores in the neighborhood... a great value for a cool pair of sunglasses... ! more

I have been living in this neigborhood for a few years now and have now been getting my annual exams at Park West Vision. I also send my husband here. The staff are professional, nice and they run an efficient practice. I have never had to wait more than 15 minutes and the doctor is very friendly. He's been working in the neighborhood for decades and you can tell. I question Wloplaz's response about $800 frames. I have never seen such frames and I should know because I always try on practically every set of frames (which the staff are patient and happy to let me do). No, they are not pushy and their interest is for you to get the services you need. This is the type of wonderful neighborhood medical practice that will look out for your vision needs. DO NOT USE THIS DOCTOR.. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL DOCTOR AND STAFF. Very pushy Doctor and staff (aka salespersons) their only interest is to make you buy piece of crap frames at a very high price. They price frames $800-$900 and give you a $400 discount. more

Friendly, professional service 2/25/2008

I've been going to Dr. Capetola for 6 years now, even when I moved to Manhattan I still came to Park West Vision for eye exams and contacts. Dr. Capetola is friendly, professional and patient with questions. If there's something wrong with my glasses or contacts, they fix the problem or send you a different pair of contacts without question. I never had trouble with my insurance with them and never waited more than 20 minutes for my appointment, even on Saturdays. Pros: convenient hours, professional care Cons: none that I can think of more

I was having problems with my contacts when I first visited and was given a very thorough exam. They were friendly and professional during all my visits. I have twin 1 year olds who I had to take with me, The receptionist was great, and kept them occupied while I was in my appointment. The Dr. checked my Rx but because it was a recent Rx from another store, and didn't need changing he didn't charge me the full amount - a very reasonable thing to do. Pros: service, staff Cons: price a little higher than I would expect more

Everything you don't want in a doctor 10/3/2007

They take my insurance. I verified it online; I verified it with the insurance company, I called back and forth and was sent in circles, but they still gave me trouble. Now, I just want the insuracnce discount on the exam and I am willing to be a very fashionable consumer who'll generally drop more money than I should on the frames, but they were so diffiuclt with this. It's hard enough coping with insurance companies these days, but for your doctors to give a patient so much trouble. How can you trust that? How can they treat good customers so poorly? Pros: None Cons: Horrible service. Playing games with Insurance. Won't honor online contact purchases. more

AS for streaky AR coatings, well, we use ONLY Pentax and Crizal, the industry best. Yes, they sometimes are defective..but are covered LIFETIME for defects! As an addendum to what the doctor said above (regarding me waiting 6 months before seeing him) I would like to say that I wear glasses 99.9% of the time and contact lenses only on special occassions and that's why it took 6 months before noticing a problem since I only wore the lenses a few times (maybe 3?). Also, it is COMPLETELY untrue that I was told I would need to pay for his time. He saw me because I called in to tell them that there was a problem with the lense AND that I only wore the lense a few times. It seemed very natural that they asked to see me because it's just standard good business practice to stand behind your service and/or products especially when they are custom fitted. Only when asked, at the end of the brief consultation, did he tell me that I would have to pay something for the replacement lense. My point is that the doctor should have replaced the lense (and other 6 month toric lense that was never worn) at no additional cost whatsoever since the error in fitting was his. Also, in reference to the UV glasses streaking sitiuation, I've never had any issue with streaking before this pair and I've worn UV lenses for over 12 years. I never did report this to the doctor due to my previous bad experience with the contact lense issue. more

Pushy sales people and arrogent doctor. 1/6/2007

I came in to park west because they took my insurance plan. Not only did they tell me that my plan wasn't very good, they actually tried to get me to buy a pair of overpriced glasses for reading. UFT members be very aware of this place. My union delegate will be notified of this place. Pros: NONE Cons: Not UFT friendly more

I never knew that buying glasses could be fun!! My exam was thorough... and the office staff really made my buying glasses such a fun experience. My kids were torturing me, and one of the staff members found a way to entertain them while I picked out a pair of glasses. And, they sent my kids home with free goodies too !! Pros: a great staff, very patient with my kids more
