can't wait to go back 8/2/2010

Had the best brunch here with my mom. The weather was lovely and we sat at an outdoor table. I had Crab Cake Salad and Vegetarian Burger Sandwich. The crab cake was freshly cooked and the sandwich was pretty tasty. The decor was also quite nice and relaxing, and the server was freindly. Pros: excellent food Cons: slow service more

The Best Meal Four ""Foodies"" Had in Paso Robles! 8/18/2008

Our palettes were introduced to new and amazing fare this past August weekend in Paso Robles. It was our first visit to Panolivo, and it certainly won't be our last. We are regulars to Paso Robles at least twice a year, and had never experienced such delicious gourmet entrees in Paso Robles like this ever before. To be honest, we wished we lived even more locally (we reside in Orange County, CA), because we would visit every week. more

IT IS FRENCH! 6/17/2006

We have eaten breakfast many times at the Panolivo in Paso Robles, and really enjoyed it. You can get a tartine beurré, and Béatrice's fromage blanc is delicious. Where else can you get a real French breakfast in central California? Plus they have real French pastry, baked daily. We always stop there when we pass through Paso. more

A very satisfying breakfast. 1/31/2006

My husband, son and I went to Panolivo for breakfast after hearing raves about the food. We liked the decor (cozy) and were delighted with our meals. My son ordered the kids french toast and bacon. His french toast was so good I wanted to eat it all of it myself. My husband ordered a roast chicken sandwich, and was very happy with how tender the chicken was. I ordered their version of eggs benedict (with proscuitto and a mornay sauce) and was pleased with my meal. I loved that they let me order french fries as a side. (The fries were excellent) I am going to start bringing family and friends to Panolivo. more

One of the worst meals I've ever had! 11/30/2005

On a short trip to the central coast, my bf and I decided to dine at the SLO restaurant because our hotel was nearby. How we regret that decision! The decor should have tipped us off; it was like a Vegas attempt at recreating alfresco dining indoors. I ordered a macadamia nut encrusted halibut, which was slightly burnt and devoid of flavor. His ""steak"" tasted like recently-defrosted, McDonald's meat. With such poor quality food, it actually offended me that the entrees were priced from $20+! No complaints about the service: the 20-something local was pleasant and attentive. I did, however, notice that he seemed more indifferent as our food remained practically untouched. We tipped well, in spite of the meal! I really can't express how awful and disappointing the food was. Shame on you Panolivo for charging those prices for unedible food! Pros: decent service Cons: Horrible food, Expensive, Decor more

Run, don't walk to another place to eat 11/30/2005

It's really hard to know where to start since this honestly is one of the worst dining experiences we've had. The ambiance first off is like Disneyland with an attempt to make it romantic with mood lighting. First up we ordered the Crab dip- was OK at best, although it being crab one would except it to be much better. Bread for dipping-stale. I ordered the Steak- DO NOT DO THIS. For $26 dollars I would expect something reasonable. Instead I had a lump of meat that wasn't at all even fairly tender or tasty. I ate probably about 4 bites and decided to stop after offending my taste buds. She ordered a special seafood entree that ""Tasted like a fishstick.....a bad one"" We couldn't bear the thought of dessert and decided to hightail it outta there before to robbed me of any more of our money. Run! Pros: service Cons: awful food, expensive , poor decor more

SLO location- Not for Vegetarians 10/23/2005

Scallops were delightful, served with a nice salad of crisp fried leek slivers. The Vegetable Gateau was terrible, however. Undercooked eggplant and red peppers made for an astringent, not very flavorful side dish. And the cheese plate was disappointing, 4 hunks of soft, commercially produced cheeses, all mild and bland enough not to frighten nor excite. A bright side was the wine list, with selections from France that you typically do not see in SLO, where local wine predominates. We selected a decent 1er cru white burgundy, (can't go wrong with the 2002's!) a decent bargain at $37, especially since you can't find such a wine anywhere else around here. Transcendent? No, but a nice find, steely and mineral and true bourgogne. Just made us wish for a plate of oysters, or a big bowl of Moules. If you go, try the Venison; it looked great! Pros: Friendly Service, Wine List, Ambience Cons: Limited Veg Menu, Uninspiring dishes, Food details more

""Bonjour!"" But not so bon appe'tit... 7/17/2005

Heard Panolivo was a ""must."" Had reservations that were punctually and politely fufilled. The atmosphere was nice, the drinks look fun, and the bar crowd is nice to gaze at. The service was very good. *However*: I commented that I didn't finish my French Onion Soup because it was bland, watery, and tasteless. The waiter acknowledged my concerns. Then my halibut came: overdone with a ""Croûte de carton"" (cardboard crust!) on one side where the chef left it sautee to smithereens. The profiterole pastry was hard and dry. To top it off, we were charged for the soup. Never, EVER charge a customer for a dish they complain about! Comment stupide! Je ne retournerai pas!! Pros: Light and airy, Cute crowd, Friendly staff Cons: Mediocre food, mediocre food, mediocre food more

Delicious Food, Great Location, Beautiful Decor 6/30/2005

I've been to Panolivo's four times since they opened in San Luis Obispo. Their filet mignon was excellent, salmon delicious that my friend ate. I have never had better bread pudding, which was rich, a perfect portion, and made from croissants! Their lattes are to die for and the french toast is excellent. Pros: Excellent food, Beautiful decor, Great coffee more

""The food was excellent"" 8/19/2004
