Worst

Average at best. Alamo Heights need to demand more from their Restaurants. Slow service and over priced food. Cons: Parking, Service Food

Good Tex Mex in an Upscale Setting 9/22/2011

Well, I have only eaten here once and had the chicken flautas. The setting was quite nice, but the menus were a little doggy around the edges. The menu itself was rather conventional Tex Mex which was disappointing.in that regard. The dish was well prepared and with generous proportions, especially of the avocado garnish on top. some restaurants serve a portion of about half a teaspoon as if the diner might well be allergic to it. Everything was well seasoned with the sole exception of the chicken breast in the flauta. If is prepared the traditional way by boiling all of the flavor out then shredding it and lightly seasoning it.according to my competent and knowledgeable waitress. Unfortunately, after the light but correctly hot deep frying, it was dry and not of a pleasing texture. Traditionally correct, but palpably lifeless. more

San Antonio's worst restaurant!!!! Waste of Money!!! 7/20/2010

My family and I found the first mexican restaurant without a line and had a total of maybe 5 tables currently seated. The fast seating was impressive and well it was downhill after that. The waiter didn't take a drink order and just assumed that we all wanted water. Once he came back about 20 minutes later we asked for sodas which took another 20 minutes. At about an hour he took the order... The food arrived about an hour later and only half the plates were ready. In fact the guy messed up one of the orders but it was too late to correct. We spent a horrible 2.5 hours there and received terrible service. If you want a crappy meal and a 3 hour wait this is the resturant for you. I wish I could report that this is the only place that offers poor service but it seems if they have a location on the river the food and service are not a priority in San Antonio. Pros: No line and quick to get seated Cons: Food is bad, Waiter is slow, and workflow is disorganized more

Went for lunch 6/7/2010

I very much enjoyed the food, it was timely, and quite tasty. The waitress was attentive, without being intrusive. more

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY 1/31/2010

Frankly, getting rid of that Blanca Aldacco as hostess in the old location was a blessing. However, the food and service still suffer. In a restaurant already known to be expensive, they CHARGED ME $0.50 for a small amount of PICKLED jalapenos. They didn't even have fresh jalapenos on hand--and to charge for a simple ingredient is ridiclous. Pros: location is fabulous and so is the interior fireplace lounge Cons: EVERYTHING ELSE IS HORRIBLE more

good interior design... 11/28/2009

good interior design. When you go in, you will see all these comfy sofas and good little tables and all these good designs, but the serves was so slow. Everything was just slow. We were waiting there for 30 min for get a seat, and 30min for a waiter to come to take the order, and 45min for the food to get on the table. The food wasn't bad, but not excellent. I would say, abve average almost, but no. Of you are enjoy this place, good for you, because me too. but for other aspect, I will not go there again. Dont give me wrong, I have been there for 3 times before I write this review. If you are will your friends and ready to enjoy the place and talk talk talk and spend time with it, there probabily will be the place to go. Bad thing for this place is the location. Difficult to make the turn, narrow entrence for turnning into this plaza, since the road was coved behind the little bump (you will know what I am talking about) so when you think you should make the turn, turn it! Pros: good interior design, enjoy the place Cons: average food, slow serves, location more

An Improvement 9/3/2009

Imagine trying to operate a good restaurant ........while serving some of the pompous "goofs" that live in Alamo Heights. Well they are pulling it off. Pros: Great Ambience Cons: Stiff Chairs........replaced.....Better Now more

Great Drinks,Good Food, POOR SERVICE 4/16/2009

As much as we use to enjoy going there we sadly do not anymore. No matter how good the food and drinks may be they cannot stand up to poor service. We hoped it would get better alas it did not. more

Great ambience & service, pretty good food! 11/17/2008

My husband and I ate here for lunch after the San Antonio marathon, and especially loved the outdoor patio. Lots of nice landscaping and fountains, and the weather was great! On a side note, people were letting their kids play in the fountain and run around, which was relatively annoying, so I wish the restaurant manager had said something to them, but I don't know how well that would have gone over. (One of the kids accidentally threw a coin toward the fountain that ended up hitting a baby in the face!!!) Anyway, our server was great -- very personable and attentive, even brought over an extra bowl of queso on the house (which was delicious, by the way!). The enchiladas and tamales were also quite good, although not the best Mexican I've ever had. Overall, we loved the ambience and service, and the food was pretty good, too! Pros: Ambience (great patio!), service, & food. Cons: Children playing recklessly around dining tables. more

Absolutely Superb! 9/20/2008

Truly a superb and refined Mexican restaurant. Very nice selection of entrees. Excellent brunch on weekends. Superior service. Secluded location provides an extremely pleasant and comfortable ambiance for relaxation and enjoyment. Pros: Excellent food and diversified menu. Excellent service. Ample parking. Cons: May be crowded during mealtimes due to its enormous popularity. more

Nice Atmosphere 8/26/2008

What a disappointment... I read all the reviews and decided to visit this restaurant. There is a nice ambiance to the restaurant, the margaritas are pretty good but other than that it wasnt that great. I think this place would be good just for happy hour or drinks. The food is very bland and it definately is not authentic mexican food. Someone had a review that said to go here instead of Mi Tierra!!! They must be crazy... :) Don't waste your time here unless you like bland food... Pros: Ambience, Free Valet Cons: Bland Food, OK Service, Over priced for the quality of food more

Absolutley Fabulous Margs! 3/25/2008

I advise to begin with a house margarita, which includes the ideal amount of lime and salt- key ingredients if you ask me. I usually stick with the fajitas because I can be picky about meat to vegetable ratio. \r \r Another huge plus is that they are very open to large parties. I held a surprise birthday party for a friend and they set us up in a private room, it was excellent! more

Great, elegant place to have a romantic dinner! 2/22/2008

This is one of my favorite Mexican food restaurants in San Antonio. It has delicious food, great atmosphere, friendly staff, and great margaritas. It isn't your typical mexican taco place. I really enjoy dining here. Pros: everything is good here Cons: sometimes there's a long wait, again the good places are usually this full. more

Great, Great, Great 9/27/2007

My husband and I took an out of town guest to Paloma Blanca after another couple reccommended it. Upon entering, we were immediately greeted by the hostess and shown to our table. Our waiter was new and a bit unsure of himself; he was unable to find a wine list or answer questions about the menu. However, his difficiencies were overwhelmed by the wonderful food. Everything we ordered was superub. The margaritas were fantastic. The food was very tasty and portions were generous. The atmosphere is very relaxing, cool, crisp and calming. I would definitely reccomend Paloma Blanca to my friends and family. Pros: Margaritas Cons: unknowledgble server more

Great Upscale Mexican Food 9/14/2007

This place was wonderful when my fiance and his dad all went together. I have never been to an upscale Mexican Restaurant, but this one takes the cake as far as service, presentation, and ambience it offers. I highly recommend this restaurant. more

great place to go for lunch 11/19/2006

We normally go for lunch around 11 when it opens. After 12 you can expect to wait. We love ordering the Enchillades Verdes and the Chicken soup. Their prices are great for lunch and to take your business affiliates. The food is very fresh and you can expect to get your enchillades filled with chicken. Pros: artsy, romantic, peaceful Cons: better make reservations if you come during peek hours more
