Best

I visited the Palm Spring Emergency Room a few days ago. I was really impressed with the care i received from the nurses and doctors. For the past few years, my diabetes has been ...

Worst

At 92, my mother was a happy, active and clear-minded gal living in an independent living facility. In 1994, her doctor and I talked about hospitalizing her for 2-3 days for a car...

Palm Springs General Hospital is GREAT!!!! 11/6/2009

I am very sorry, but I have reviewed these "Insider pages" reviews about Palm Springs Hospital and most of them are obviously written by unrealistic, ungrateful and those predisposed to complain and I think that those people not only need a reality check but they also need to be more appreciative. For example, the review about the mom's diaper being changed doesn't hold water because the daughter just sat there bitter and never mentioned to the staff on that unit that the mom's diaper needed to be changed. Also, Palmetto Hospital is also a "private" hospital and the reason that a doctor does not go to a certain hospital is not because he is excluded by it. it is because he has chosen not to apply for priviliges there. Furthermore, the other comment about Palm Springs Hospital using that 90 plus year old for her insurance and then letting her die is also very obvious in inconsistancy and bullcrap, really. I personally like Palm Springs Hospital and I feel that it is a great asset to Hia more

X-ray Tech - Jose DeJesus to be commended... 10/20/2009

The care my mother received this past summer was adequate, but she still was released and admitted to Palmetto General a week later for the same problem. The issue has more to do with her not being able to have her own doctor see her at Palm Springs because it is private, so it was more time consuming and wasteful for her to be there in the first place. \r There was however an X-ray technician, Jose DeJesus who should be commended for his sensitivity, professionalism, and genuine concern for the patients there. He was called upstairs on the 6th floor to X-ray my mother from bed, as she was fairly immobile, and there was a woman across the hall screaming, "Help me" for at least 45 minutes that I observed. Maybe nurses or aides had checked on her but that did not seem apparent and she was creating quite the loud and uncomfortable setting for the other patients and visitors. I watched as numerous healthcare professionals walked by without stiopping or even looking in, but when Mr. DeJesus more

Palm Springs General Hospital is nothing without Eschesbaria 10/9/2009

Palm Springs General Hospital is the Worse! 7/29/2009

My father was treated there on an emergency basis and because he had good insurance plus medicare the doctors there "milked" every penny by putting him through unnecesary tests, sedation which caused him to be sleeping all the time which led to dehydration and finally intubation. Dad's primary care physician didn't have privileges at Palm Springs hospital, so he was at the mercy PS doctors. The first day the Attending spoke with my dad's primary care doctor explained that my father had a cardiac problem. The Attending hardly ever showed up to speak with us, never kept us informed and shined for his absence. The only time he showed up was to antagonistically confront mom and I when we finally caught on to the hospital's scheme of milking dad's insurance. When we decided to transfer dad, this pseudo - doctor didn't even have a diagnosis in dad's chart (even after speaking with my dad's primary care physician from day one!) We had to move earth and mountains to get dad's chart in order an more

Palm Springs General Hospital Paves the Way to the Otherworld. 7/9/2009

At 92, my mother was a happy, active and clear-minded gal living in an independent living facility. In 1994, her doctor and I talked about hospitalizing her for 2-3 days for a cardiovascular check up, so she could have a hospital file opened, because otherwise she would not be admitted in a nearby nursing facility where she was willing to go. This hospitalization was planned ahead of time and there was no emergency situation at all. The day before getting admitted to the hospital, I took her to dine with me at a local restaurant and we enjoyed our dinner together. The next day, she entered Palm Springs General Hospital in Hialeah walking by herself, talking, and in good spirits. Two weeks and a half later she was a corpse, after the most ridiculous and inappropriate medical treatments, unnecessary tests, and improper decisions of the worst kind. Her death certificate attests that she died from "MALNUTRITION AND DEHYDRATION." And all of this happened inside Palm Springs General Hospital more

Discriminatory practices? Maybe you're just trying to cash in Karen, hmm? 3/1/2009

Karen Kurtz is a disgruntled employee and her opinions here should be completely disregarded. She is looking for a lottery and has tried to sue PSGH for the win. So far, no luck, eh Karen?PSGH is a great place to work, there is a real family atmosphere amongst the employees. (usually, until a rogue employee comes along like Karen) more

This Hospital Sucks Big Time 1/23/2009

This Hospital really sucks big time, I had my mother there in the 2Nd floor room#225 and she had her pamper with ca-ca over four hours until I had to give a complaint to the nurses and as soon I gave the complaint they called security on me because they don't like to be told to do their job. In Conclusion this hospital Sucks Big Time more

Adminstration........ What's That? 10/6/2008

Not everyone should get the blame, but Honestly these people have no idea what it is to work for a hospital.... At a recent stay an elderly gentleman was to stay over for a few days, on the following Monday he was to take a test that consisted the elderly man to relocate to a different hospital in the area.. Monday came along the elderly man was transported by amblulance to the different hospital where his treatment was going to be held never did anyone at the hospital (Palm Springs Hospital) informed my grandmother that my grandfather was going to be discharged, my grandmother not knowing left all her belongings there and left with her husband to palmetto hospital. Later on that Monday afternoon I came over to see how my grandfather was doing.. When i got there i walked into his room to find his things bagged up by the assistant nurse I asked around where my grandfather was and I was told he was discharged. How wrongly informed we were.... After everything They happen to also lose my Grandfather's DENTURES... WHAT AN EXPERIENCE... I DONT RECOMMEND THIS HOSPITAL FOR ANY KIND OF STAY... \r \r P.S. FOOD IN THE CAFETERIA IS GREAT! THOSE ARE THE RUMORS...... LETS KEEP IT THAT WAY ! more

yes THE HOSPITAL HAS A OLD STYLE TO IT THAT'S BECAUSE THE OWNER LIKE IT LIKE THAT ITS A PRIVATE HOSPITAL HE DOES W/E HE WANTS YOU DON'T LIKE IT DON'T WINE, AND ITS DOESN'T SMELL FUNNY YOU DO. THE CARE IN THIS HOSPITAL ITS GRATE YOU JUST STARED TO COMPLAINT ABOUT LITTLE STUFF AND PISS OF THE NURSES I WOULD ED ACT THE SAME WAY. THE FOOD IN THE CAFETERIA ITS LIKE NO OTHER FROM OTHER HOSPITALS, THE FLOOR WILL NEVER BE DIRTY AND THE BATH ROOMS WILL ALWAYS BE CLEAN. THE NURSES AND THE DOCTORS ARE GRATE AND CARING PERSONS, YES SOME NURSES WILL SOMETIME TELL JOKES AND STAND AROUND AND GOSSIP A LITTLE BUT I ASSURE YOU SHE/HE HAS GIVEN YOU TREATMENT FIRST, AND WHAT YOU GUYS WANT FOR HIM/HER TO BE NEXT TO YOUR BED GIVING U A BACK RUB OR CLEANING YOUR TOE NAILS BE REALISTIC YOU DO THE SAME AT WORK WHEN YOU KNOW U ARE DOING YOUR JOB. AND IF YOU ARE ONE OF DOES PERSONS WHO THE RESCUE BRING YOUR FAMILY FROM A ALF OR A HOME CARE AND U DEMAND TO SEE YOUR DAD OR MOM WELL IF YOU HA VENT SEEN THEM IN A more

CARING HOSPITAL 2/15/2008

I WAS IMPRESSED WITH THE CARE AT PALM SPRINGS GENERAL HOSPITAL.... I CAME IN THRU THE EMERGENCY ROOM AND FOUND THE STAFF TO BE very PROFESSIONAL AND CARING, THE DOCTORS AND THE NURSES WERE VERY ATTENTIVE. WHEN THEY TRANSFERRED ME TO THE FLOORS I WAS VERY IMPRESSED WITH THE CLEANLINESS AND THE ATTENTION FROM THE STAFF WHO WERE VERY CARING. THE FOOD WAS EXCELLENT AND MY DOCTOR WAS VERY INFORMATIVE. I AM VERY SURPRISED AT THE NEGATIVE COMMENTS MADE. MY DAD WAS A PATIENT AND MY SISTER AS WELL AS MYSELF ON SEPARATE OCCASSIONS AND WE ALL HAD A GOOD EXPERIENCE. more

This is a great place 2/14/2008

I was very impressed with the quality of service my fatther received at Palm Springs General Hospital. He was constantly attended to by a very caring staff of nurses and doctors. He is is much better now because of their dedicated work. I was extremely satisfied by the environment; it was unlike any other health care institution I have visited. It has beautifull paintings in the hallways and has world class food in the cafeteria. Everyone I met was thoughtful and compassionate, it felt like MY FATHER AND I WERE PART OF THEIR FAMILY. more

This Hospital is bad news 1/19/2008

I will tell you some stories..My first boyfriend in 1985 died there, had a brain damage and died in that hospital, then a friend of the family died there too because of liver failure. in 2005 my mom had hysterectomy and she got an infection that almost died, and it was because they do no sterilized the instruments correctly. The place smells terrible, the lobby looks like from the 70's. I still don't understand why OSHA department don't go there and make an investigation, they are playing with human lives. I don't get it! :( more

Hialeah's Mayor 10/23/2007

Good afternoon, I am so impressed on how we continued to leave and accommodate to an unhealthy ENVIRONMENT. IN REALITY WE (COMMUNITY) HAS ELECTED mayor's FOR NOTHING THAN TO WORRY ABOUT A STUPID AND UNNECESSARY STADIUM. I HOPE THAT THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH DOES SOMETHING ABOUT THIS UNSAFE ENVIRONMENT. BESIDES THE ENVIRONMENT, EMPLOYEES ARE UNPROFESSIONAL, LOW CLASS, THEY SEAT AROUND AND CHEAT CHAT ALL DAY AND CANT ASSIST YOU WITH IMPORTANT SITUATIONS. I INVITE THE CITY OF HIALEAH mayor TO VISIT THIS SO CALLED HOSPITAL AND DOOOOOOOOO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. USE SOME OF THE MONEY THAT WE THE COMMUNITY SPEND IN TAXES OR CLOSED THE HOSPITAL DOWN. THIS WILL AVOID MAJOR CIRCUMSTANCES IN THE FUTURE.... WE THE COMMUNITY PAY TAXES AND ELECT OTHERS TO REPRESENT OUR NEEDS AND OBLIGATIONS. AS mayor OF THE CITY OF HIALEAH NEED TO COME OUT AND DO SOMETHING RIGHT NOW......THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND DISGUSTING.....THE FUTURE DEPENDS ON THE WAY WE LEAVE AND HOW WE DO THINGS. more

BAD HOSPITAL 6/14/2007

It is a shame that nurses, doctors and assistants treat patient the way they do. Kevin the head nurse in the ER don't know how to work and he forget that patient are human not a so call furniture or think in the ER. Those people go to the hospital because their are sick not because the want it. I went to that hospital because I was sick and what I found was lazy much and so call nurses and doctors that they prefer sit down that to take care a sick person. Constantly drinking Cuban coffee, talking walking but nothing accomplish. Remind those people that if was not because sick people the don't even have a job. I need help going to the bathroom but Kevin wants that I hold it because he was to busy drinking coffee or talking or filling to paper but no patient to see. Patient screaming about pain, old guy with althermier diseases bleeding from his catheter and no one to help him. Restroom dirty. Was the 7 long hours of my life. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOSPITAL TO ANYONE IS THE WORSE HOSPIT more

Bad hospital 2/11/2006

I came here a few times once to get my tonsills and adenoids removed then to apply for a job here. When I had my T&A done I was much younger then but don't remember anything bad about the place. Now when I went recently to apply it seems like your walking into a time warp. It is a really old facility like from the 50's that has not modernized its interior at all. Everything seems old and like it's falling apart. Pretty depressing just to walk in there. I can't even imagine having to be admitted! Well anyways inside the whole place just smells funny in a bad sort of way. Can't really put my finger on what the smell is. They need to invest in some remodeling and pinesol or air fresheners. Also have not heard very good things about this place from my nursing collegue's at all. Avoid if possible! PROS: Proximity if you live nearby. CONS: Bad rep, Bad smells, Bad interior and exterior. more

Dangerous Hospital 11/23/2005

This hospital leaves a lot to be desired ,it is hungry for money, but also does not follow a national standard in the practice of medicine. It deals with a population that is Ignorant and Sick (nursing home hospitals, hospices) and most of these people cannot complain about the great amount of wrong things that happen there. It has improved only by threat of litigation ..it is a horrible environment for a sick patient.. more

Money Hungry Hospital... 6/16/2005

This hospital is not a very conductive environment to a speedy recovery. From the moment you walk up to the ER window the nurse was very rude. They are in a major hurry to get your insurance provider info...but not in a hurry to get you treatment. I am not alone in this observation, as i have met and spoken to many people about this same issue, and everyone has said the same. Im sure the doctors and nurses are very capable of the medical side of it, however, the billing and admissions dept is horrible. more
