Palace Rip Off 1/2/2012

Traveled to Prescott this New Years to see the inaugural ""Boot Drop"" to sign in the New Year. Since the Boot was poised over the Palace, we decided to take advantage of their New Years Menu and made reservations for later that night. Their menu listed a $26 dollar Rib Eye, so I looked forward to a thick juicy steak. My wife ordered the Shrimp Alfredo, and she too thought that sounded good. My rib eye was anything BUT thick- maybe a half inch at best. While it was tasty, it was far from a 26 dollar piece of meat. I am not eating carbs, so asked for double veggies. What I got was a normal sized scoop of broccoli and carrots- nothing special. I got a better order of nicely grilled veggies from a sports bar earlier in the day. My wife's shrimp was greasy and nothing to write home about. All in all, I felt like the Palace offered sub standard food at a greatly inflated price- clearly taking advantage of the holiday crowds. There are other choices of places to eat in town, I would suggest they get your food dollars on the future. more

Good Reuben, otherwise forgettable 7/19/2010

Obviously, the Palace is a famous building full of history and charm, but how's the food? If you are ordering a Reuben, you are in luck - it was above average. Everything else was typical truckstop food, not even up to the standards of IHOP or Denny's. The salads were fresh but dull, mainly consisting of iceberg lettuce and carrot shavings. The burgers were typical, nothing special about them. The turkey sandwich, described as having sundried tomato and caramelized onion, was not even fit for a Subway sub shop. Pros: Reuben Cons: turkey sandwich more

TOUCH OF THE WEST 7/30/2007

I visited the Palace Saloon back in March of 07. From the minute you walk through the swingin saloon doors you feel like you stepped in to the movie set of Tombstone. Old pictures on the wall, the staircase which used to lead to the ""Ladies of the Night"", all of the employees were dressed in century clothing which just added to the atmosphere. My wife and I sat decided to be just like Doc and Wyatt and sit at the bar. which amazing, all hand crafted and broght over from new jersey in 1887, biggest wooden bar that I have ever seen. We ordered some burgers which were very good. The selection of beers on tap was pretty slim, although the bartender suggested the Palace Red, which is only available at the restaurant, and I have to say I was very impressed with the amber ale. Through out lunch not only did we enjoy soaking in the ambiance but the bartender, who was dressed in a slight resemblance to a saloon girl, corset and all, was extremely entertaining. She educated us about a few things about the Palace that you can't read on the back of the menu, and was keeping my wife and myself in stiches. We actually sat next to the well at the bar which gave us the opportunity to listen to all the funny servers talk about their tables and making jokes. I think the bartender called our stools, the hot seats, almost like a behind the scenes. After we drank our fill of Palace Red and snapped few pictures with our bartender we heading on out. It was a great experience. I would suggest for anyone to stop in and feel the west Pros: Bartender Cons: pretty busy more

Get Along, Little Doggie! 7/10/2002

This place has a fantastic atmosphere! It's done up in the style of ""the old west."" Very nice! The cook comes out to greet you too! However, the food is definitely lacking! If you're going to eat there, don't order the beef sandwhich! It has large globules of fat attached to it. There are better spots in town to grab a bite to eat! The waitress we had was s-l-o-w even though there were only a few other people in the place (and they weren't even at her tables!). Pros: Beautiful Furnishings, Historical Building, Friendly Service Cons: Fatty Food, Slow Service more

Blubber 7/9/2002

The ambience is terrific! It's like stepping into a bar from the wild west! Too bad you can't eat the ambience...After picking out the HUGE pieces of blubber attached to my BBQ beef sandwich, I was left with about two table spoons of palatable meat. The buffalo burger was tasteless and dry. In an empty restaurant, the waitress took 15 minutes to refill my drink. It's awfully pricey for what you get. Pros: ambience, historic Cons: food more
