TOUCH OF THE WEST 7/30/2007

I visited the Palace Saloon back in March of 07. From the minute you walk through the swingin saloon doors you feel like you stepped in to the movie set of Tombstone. Old pictures on the wall, the staircase which used to lead to the ""Ladies of the Night"", all of the employees were dressed in century clothing which just added to the atmosphere. My wife and I sat decided to be just like Doc and Wyatt and sit at the bar. which amazing, all hand crafted and broght over from new jersey in 1887, biggest wooden bar that I have ever seen. We ordered some burgers which were very good. The selection of beers on tap was pretty slim, although the bartender suggested the Palace Red, which is only available at the restaurant, and I have to say I was very impressed with the amber ale. Through out lunch not only did we enjoy soaking in the ambiance but the bartender, who was dressed in a slight resemblance to a saloon girl, corset and all, was extremely entertaining. She educated us about a few things about the Palace that you can't read on the back of the menu, and was keeping my wife and myself in stiches. We actually sat next to the well at the bar which gave us the opportunity to listen to all the funny servers talk about their tables and making jokes. I think the bartender called our stools, the hot seats, almost like a behind the scenes. After we drank our fill of Palace Red and snapped few pictures with our bartender we heading on out. It was a great experience. I would suggest for anyone to stop in and feel the west Pros: Bartender Cons: pretty busy more
