Great food. Good atmosphere. 4/6/2010

My boyfriend and I went to join his family for a nice meal. Once we drove up we were questioning if we would be able to actually park and get it; we were glad we did. After waiting for a little bit (we did have a party of 8) we were seated with a pleasant and competent server. They made sure all our needs were attended to. We did the food family style of course. I feel in love with their chicken lettuce wraps. Next time I want to try to vegetarian once. The rest of the table raved about the prawns which I was not bold enough to try. Since there were two birthdays at the table we did get dessert. The cheesecake & the chocolate dome were amazing. You can easily go there on a date or as a family. There is a bar with an extensive menu. \r The only thing that I wonder about was the extensiveness of their food menu; sometimes you have to question places that try to cook too many dishes, but it seems they nailed every one... at leaset the ones we ordered. Pros: Taste. Quality. Visual appeal. Service. Cons: A bit pricey, but worth it. more

the ahi tuna is amazing! 12/1/2009

I love, love, love the sear ahi tuna is amazing. The texture is perfect, the taste of the sauce is awesome and the bed of vegie it rests upon is crisp and fresh. I really do enjoy it and although they are pricey for every day dining it is a wonderful treat from time to time. more

Over priced 2/13/2009

Over crowded and over priced asian restaurant in the Arboretum. Try Manuels or Fire Bowl across the street instead. Pros: Ambience, Bar Cons: Price, Food Quality more

Best Chinese food we've had in Austin 12/28/2008

We order take out here often. The Special ribs appetizer and combo fried rice are great. Prices are higher than your mom & pop Chinese place, but it is also MUCH more sanitary. We hope to eat in there soon as it looks very nice and great bar. more

Average food but good servie 10/25/2008

I've been to a few PF Chang's before and liked both the food and experience. I was excited to go based on past experience and reviews. First, I made reservations for a Friday night (early evening). I highly recommend getting your name on a list prior to showing up. There were several people waiting and we walked right in. The service was very good... much better than I anticipated. However, the food was so salty that it was hard to eat. Keep in mind, I've been to others so the recipe calls for much more salt or MSG than needed. I was literally swelling in my fingers from too much salt or MSG. It was a disappointing since there are not many good Chinese food places in Austin. more

Very good Chinese, albeit chain and American style 5/29/2008

PF Changs doesn't deny that is is non traditional Chinese food - a little fusion, a lot of USA influence (as seen by the huge amounts of meat in the food). But you know what, it's good. They dishes are great, the speacial sauces is good and service is typically very friendly too.\r I love the orange peel beef and although I hate eggplant, really enjoy how they serve it. Also good is Changs chicken, green bean chicken with black bean sauce...and many others.\r \r The teas a great, drink usually a bit pricey but good too. With so many bad Chinese places in Austin, we find ourselves coming back here more and more. more

Good food, not so good prices 6/10/2007

My wife and I really enjoyed our trip to pf chang when we went a week ago. The decor is great, and the service quick, but it took 45 minutes to get seated. Also, for the portion size that we received, the price of the food was high. I would recommend to anyone who hasn't been before, and we will definitely return. more

Chinese experience without the MSG 11/28/2006

My girlfriend and I usually go out to eat at least once a week with usual trips to Outback, TGI Fridays, Chuys, Chilis, and the ocassional Cheesecake Factory and Olive Garden, but last night (11/28/06) we wanted to try something different. P.F. Chang's offered such an outlet and although I'm not usually a fan of authentic asian cuisine, basically because I get bad reactions to it, the experience last night was really good. We were seated promptly without having a reservation, the drinks we ordered (the Orient Express and Jade Martinis) went down like candy, the pan-fried peking dumplings served with a house, almost-broth-like soy sauce for the appetizer were great and addictive, although they should offer more per plate (4 for $5.25 which is a little steep), and our entrees, albeit nothing special and could have been ordered for five dollars less at your local mall's food court, were tasteful and filling, but lets not forget about the dessert! At the table across from us was a group of 8 women celebrating one of their friend's birthdays...they brought out these huge pieces of chocolate cake and we knew we had to have it....we certainly were not disappointed, this thing was pretty monstrous even for two people and required a doggy bag. The atmosphere is lively and bustly without the true asian restaurant feel which can make you feel guilty for talking louder and the waitstaff is professional and friendly. Truly a nice place to take a date provided you're willing to spend a little more than what you're acustomed too for asian cuisine. Pros: good chinese without the msg, great drinks, friendly staff Cons: a little pricey, you pay for the overall experience more

ambience over food 11/18/2006

the food is good, but not great. it's trendy chinese food. crowd pleasing. the standout to me was the green tea cocktail. everything else is pretty forgetable. Pros: green tea cocktail, ambience Cons: slightly higher than mediocre food more

Excellent! 11/13/2006

P.F. Chang's doesn't dissapoint! For vegetarian's, I highly recommend the spicey eggplant dish. You can't go wrong with this one. Atmosphere is good to w/dim lighting. Pros: Great food! Cons: Expect a wait to be seated more

Most elegant Chinese food anywhere 9/26/2006

The service is great, the atmosphere is wonderful, and the staff is exceptional. I hadn't been to a PF Changs before, but we had a great experience. The crispy honey chicken is the best chinese dish I've ever had. Very family friendly, but great for just a couple as well. Be sure to make reservations if it is a weekend, because they are the worst kept secret in town. Pros: Great food, great atmosphere, affordable. Cons: Very crowded and long wait times on weekends. more

One of my weekly favorites 7/12/2006

I go to PF Chang's like once a week. Once you've tried most of their entrees I only go in for cravings. I love their mango tea, crab wantons, lettuce wraps and hot and sour soup. So really, I often go just to get appetizers. My only complaint is their desserts are not worth the price...nowhere near... I usually head over to Bennigans for dessert afterwards... its the same quality for cheaper.\r \r This location has chef Sandra (?) who opens like 70% of PF Changs nationwide... so if you like seafood ask for the chef's special. It's delicious... one plate servers 2 very well. Oh and for the love of anything, make reservations on the weekends. Pros: parking, appetizers, asian pear mojito Cons: easy to get bored of food, desserts, no more bus boys refilling your drinks as of a few weeks ago more

my favorite PF Changs 5/29/2006

Been there several times. My favorite PF Changs. They are consistent and you know exactly what you are going to get when you walk in the door. Good food, Good service. Pros: good food, good drinks, lively Cons: parking more

American Restuarant? 10/30/2005

I have always heard this restaurant was bad, but I wanted to try it for myself to make sure before I made any complaints. I was not dissapointed. The food was absolutely horrible and the Cantonese Scallops literally had no flavor whatsoever - not even salt and pepper for seasoning. Even for any restaurant, this one is horrible. If you are going for uspcale, this place is upscale, but don't expect any good food. This is coming from an Asian that knows what Chinese food should taste like. Pros: nothing Cons: everything more

love it 10/19/2005

great value for your money. very very good food and great service more
