I was referred to PC Guru from a friend of mine that had stated they do great work and stand behind what they do. My laptop was infected with some viruses and was a bit slow. When I dropped it off they stated that it would be 7-10 business days (2 weeks) before they even started to work on it, but for an ""up charge"" rate they could expedite my service and someone would look at it right away at $84.00 an hour. I was not in a hurry as I was leaving for a family vacation and figured it would be ready when I got back or close to it. When I returned (10 days later) I called to check the status, 1st they could not find my laptop or even my name entered into there computer, then they stated that because of all of the ""Rush Jobs"" (The expedited $84 rate) that there was a lot of people ahead of me, but if I wanted to expedite it I could ($84 an Hour). I figured that I was already in line I might as well wait. Well, 18 days had past and I had not heard anything so I decided to call. After waiting on the phone for about 10 minutes, they stated that it was done and I needed to come pick it up. They charged me for 2 1/2 hours work ($140). When I got it home I found that they removed the viruses and also my Norton Antivirus Software that I had just paid $50 for and deleted the installer off of my desktop. The computer was not running any faster, in fact it seemed slower then it was originally. So I returned it back to them asking why it was so slow. About 3 days later I get a call stating that I need more memory installed and that should ""Fix the Problem"". So I went back in and another $75 later I got my laptop back. It was still slow, no change what so ever. At this point I decided to take it to a friend of a friend who works on computers in his spare time. He discovered that the memory card was not installed correctly and was in at an angle, he took it out, put it back in and that resolved my issue. PC Guru techs did not seem to be much of any kind of Guru.
