The food, the service, exceptional. I highly recommend the mussels; the broth could be a menu item on it's own. Be careful when going to the restroom. Female guests couldn't tell which of the characters were male and which were female, probably due to the signature drink that night! more

Best Restaurant on Miracle Mile! 3/10/2012

This restaurant is outstanding! I have been there many times and love it so much, that I decided to write a review on it. I love going on Tuesdays and Fridays and sitting at the bar. The food is outstanding and there is nothing better than to get a server like Joel to know every detail of what the food is all about. He also knows a lot about the wines and it is a true pleasure to enjoy the best food and wine selection in town with someone as knowledgeable as him. Chef Cindy is amazing and it is a true wonder how she seems to create food as delicious as she does year after year! Definitely my favorite restaurant on Miracle Mile. PROS: EVERYTHING! Advice: Sit with a server that makes your experience a wonderful time, and you will forget all your worries and enjoy great food, wine and great drinks! CONS: Parking, food can get pricey, and the bartenders on Saturday night. I definitely will wait until Joel is in the house! more

Absolutely one of the most spectacular culinary experiences you'll ever have. Everything is magnificent. \r \r Crab cakes are amazing, the double pork chop is ridiculously good. The only thing that doesn't blow me away at Ortanique are the deserts, which are good but not as amazing as the rest of the food. \r \r My fiancee and I have all of our special special event meals at Ortanique if we can. It's just the best. more

Love love love this place! 9/2/2011

i love everything about the place but Joel makes the experience complete. The man is a genius at concocting on the spot drinks. He made me a drink he now refers to as ""the passion pill""... AMAZING!!!! He's on every detail. Nice to go somewhere where everyone is so friendly and anticipates what you want before you order it. Food is always amazing. Cindy is a genius. I pressive wine list and great wine tasting events! A must!! more

GREAT FOOD BUT NOT SO GREAT SERVICE 5/13/2011

I went to Ortanique on the Mile to celebrate my anniversary with my significant other. The restaurant has beautiful decor and I was looking forward to experiencing great food and a great time. We enjoyed the food immensely. It is one of the best restaurants I have ever experienced. However, unfortunately the service was not great. We had a waitress, we believe her name was Juanita. She was disconnected and you can tell that she was not interested in being there. When I asked her questions regarding a certain dish, I can almost swear that she rolled up her eyes. It is a true shame, because beside the bad service, we were very satisfied with the food we ate. This restaurant is known in the Gables to be one of the best restaurants in town. We drove down all the way from Aventura, but we will never come back again to be treated with such rudeness. more

The interior is dimly lit and enchanting, like the inside of a lushly decorated tent. The food, unique and delicious. We left overfull and deeply satisfied with everything. Great for a special occasion. Highly recommend! more

The food in this fine restaurant is reliably tasty, if sometimes a bit sweet, but be careful what night you choose to go here. The acoustics reflect every sound, so on the weekends when it is busiest you can't hear the person next to you talk. On balance it is worth going, but for its food and not its ambience. more

My husband and I had dinner at Ortanique and Wow! Being jamaican and a chef myself I was expecting a purely Jamaican menu I was disappointed that it wasn't but the food was MAGNIFICENT! This is jamaican , carribbean for everyone! My mojo pork appetizer - I could have eaten 10 orders of it - the pulled pork complimented by the smokey flavor of the chipotle sauce was perfectly flavored. I order the Jerk Chicken Pasta and DAMN let me just say I wish I could have it everyday! My husband had the just Huge Jerk Pork Chop (ordered extra spicy) and I could not resist the ordering a side a rice and peas and IT did not disappoint! So let's talk service - OVER THE TOP. At no time did we feel abandoned or forgotten. If fact it was the opposite - attentive without being overbearing. WELL TRAINED STAFF! Needlessy to say - we will be back. There is just one CON - they are so far way from Delray Beach :( more

A veritable gastronomical playground awaits the adventurous that wander through the portal of Ortanique leading in from Miracle Mile. One must truly enjoy gourmet fare in order to appreciate the stylized cuisine served here. If "cheesecake factory" is your thing, this place is a cut above your tastes. more

We arrived early for an 8:30 reservation and waited an hour for a table. It took another half hour for our appetizers to arrive. Once we finally got the food it was quite good, as long as you don't mind paying $15 for a salad. The atmosphere is fun and lively, and the wait staff tried hard, but at these prices you should expect, and get, more. more
