If you are used to modern have everything at your fingertips type of hotels, this might not be for you. But if you are looking for a comfortable, welcoming, European ambience, this place is for you! Rooms run a bit small, but are comfortable and clean. The elevator is probably the original one in this victorian building but is incredibly quiet. Breakfast is served every morning in their restaurant downstairs...we are not talking Continental breakfast....eggs, pancakes, etc. were choices. Great French ambience. Overall, a lovely place for a great price! Pros: great location, great price, comfortable Cons: a tad smallish more

Friendly, charming & good location! 8/26/2002

My husband and I stayed here when we were married 6 years ago - they have remodeled the rooms and they are now quite lighter with a more open feel. Staff is very friendly, the location is great - two blocks from Union Square; complimentary wine in the evening and coffee, tea & goodies in the morning - who could ask for more!! We highly recommend this hotel! Pros: Good value, Friendly, Great Location more

Located close to a vast amount of shopping at Union Square, this hotel offered a very comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. The location is also great for various restaurants, catching a bus, or riding the cable car. The staff is pretty friendly and helpful with any questions about the attractions or advise on what to see and do. Our (standard) room was actually larger than I was anticipating, as well as being very clean and comfortable. Some attractions are a little distance away so plan on taking a taxi or the recommended bus. However, this hotel is still better if you are going for a relaxing vacation rather than a party. Pros: Quiet & relaxing, Nice Rooms, Shopping Cons: Attraction Locations more

A friend of mine lives in an SF high rise apt. & complains that her place is too small, over-priced ... but w/a great view! That probably best describes this Hotel. Yes, its clean & centrally located. But after looking at a view for 30 secs, you eventually have to turn around & spend time in your pricey room. I love Hyatt Hotels; this just wasn't as "Grand" as the others -- but more costly! Pros: Location, Views, Cleanliness Cons: Over-Priced, Small Standard Rooms, Pan Handlers more
