where's the window seat... 8/7/2005

Our five-night stay was in all satisfactory but the descriptions I read didn't seem to mesh with a few points, such as the ""bay window and window seat in every room."" The room was extremely small, and certainly had no bay window or window seat (there was one small window behind a desk that opened into an alley-type setting). The location was good, I admit, and the staff (with the exception of one younger gentleman with an attitude) was helpful. The complimentary wine each evening (5-6 p.m.) was nice, and the coffee and juices in the morning were good (though hit-and-miss since they sere slow to replenish). The price was comparable or better than area hotels so we really can't complain too much I guess, but given the experience I would recommend spending a bit more and being able to move about a bit in the room. Pros: price, location Cons: small rooms, not as advertised more

Last week I got the chance to stay at the Grand Hyatt with a friend who was visiting from out of town. The rooms are very dated, and desperatly need updating. Even the lobby was not that inviting. Great price, decent location, nice, clean rooms that were a decent size. Aveda products in the bathrooms, which were really big and spacious. Complimentary breakfast is very convenient, although it's very bare-bones and the juices tasted funny. The only glitch in our whole stay was the 75 cent local call someone seemed to have made from our room phone, although the front desk was happy to deal with that for us. Great price, decent location, nice, clean rooms that were a decent size. Aveda products in the bathrooms, which were really big and spacious. The Orchard Hotel is a wonderful place to stay. I HIGHLY recommend you give this place a try. It is very reasonably priced, the staff and service is fantastic, the rooms are HUGE, comfortable, elegant, and new, they have free DVD rentals for the times you want to stay in and relax, and you can't ask for a better location! The Orchard Hotel is a wonderful place to stay. I HIGHLY recommend you give this place a try. We found The Orchard Hotel on the internet and took a chance. This boutique hotel is a gem! The rooms are spotless and the bathrooms are beautiful! They give you a wonderful free breakfast every morning and the location could not be better. There is a trolley stop right oustide and the bellman are always ready to help you with directions or to hail you a taxi. If you are in the process of researching hotels, let the search end here! I really liked the hotel, and being located at the intersection of all 3 cable car lines, it is also convenient. Nob Hill is close to all other great neighborhoods, yet quiet. Loved the bed (featherbed, down pillows and cover, only the Heavenly shower is missing to complete the picture), the cooking in the hotel restaurant was great too. Pros: comfy bed, quality cooking, location Cons: no pool, no airport service more
