They've been thorough and good-humored as I deal with frequent minor eye issues including blepheritis, conjunctivitis, migraine-related visual disturbances, and a family history of glaucoma. Dr. Elkins helped me out greatly with a recurring eye issue. He empathized with my condition, provided a thorough examination and treatment that resolved my issue (it's been over a year now since resolved). It is easy to get appointments .... even when I needed to get in the same week. He is thorough during my eye examinations. The office staff is pleasant and punctual. He is a very likeable doctor and takes time to ask me how I am doing when I come in. I have recommended Dr. Elkins to friends and family. more

Last week I required an emergency eye appointment after a foreign object flew into my eye. This foreign object was lodged in the center of my vision, right smack-dab in the center of my pupil, piercing my cornea. I was TERRIFIED. I was seen by a local optometrist [ in Valencia] who referred me to Dr. Elkins. (Only an opthamologist is qualified to remove something in that critical part of the eye.) So I drove to Encino to be seen by Dr. Elkins. He was very professional and caring; I truly appreciated him dropping everything to take care of my eye. He made me feel comfortable and relaxed through this stressful experience, and at the follow up appointment assured me my eye had healed as if it never happened! Thank you Dr. Elkins! :) The office staff was also very friendly and courteous! more

Although I would like to, I really cannot recommend Dr. Brad Elkins. After obtaining my medical records following LASIK surgery, it was discovered that Brad Elkins deliberately withheld important findings about my eyes that represented increased risk. In addition, without my consent, he ignored the equipment manufacturer’s FDA-approved guidelines and performed an “off-label” procedure, decentered the LASIK treatment in BOTH of my eyes, and caused damage and pain that I am now told may not be correctable. During follow-ups, he continued to keep these findings from me until they were confirmed by other physicians. This type of unethical and deceitful behavior is inexcusable for a physician entrusted with the well-being of his patients and, especially, for a physician who is a member of FACS. It is clear that Brad Elkins is motivated primarily by greed, not the welfare of his patients, and I would certainly not recommend that you entrust your eyes to him. more

I took my cousin to see Brad Elkins and our experience was far from satisfying. We were treated rudely by the staff and my cousin’s exam was rushed and issues were left unresolved or unexplained. I personally know two patients who left the practice of Brad Elkins in frustration, including one who is a healthcare professional himself and knows something about good bedside manner and medical integrity. Despite the apparent repeated rants of some posters, most negative posts that I have read are consistent with our own unpleasant experience with Elkins and are not without merit. I do not mind those who have had positive outcomes posting their own positive reviews, but one has to wonder why Brad Elkins finds it necessary to hire a Carlsbad-based firm (Review Boost) to artificially boost his ratings by bombarding the Internet with mass and duplicated postings on numerous web sites (many of which are posted repeatedly on the same site, such as Google, under various false account names) and ignore his negative feedback. If Dr. Elkins is so perfect, honest, and secure about his reputation, why is he engaging in such deception? Is this who you want operating on your eyes? more

I am writing this letter to convey to you my eternal gratitude for the lazer surgery that you performed on son Cory. A mere letter cannot express the profound effect that the surgery has had on my son. He was in an accident 12 years ago which caused him to become paralyzed from the shoulders down. Before the acciddent, he wore contacts. In the years following the accident, he had many reoccuring eye infections and when forced to wear his glasses, he would get cuts and sores on his face and ears from the pressure of the glasses as he was confined mostly to his bed. We decided that the only solution was to see if Cory was a good candidate for lazer surgery. I had heard by word of mouth and researching that you were one of the best in this field. I called your office and spoke to one of your wonderful assistants "Chloe". I advised her of Cory's condition. She quoted me a price, I thanked her but told her that due to the medical expenses that occur with Cory's condition I could not afford to have the lazer surgery done at this time. The next dat I recieved a call from you personally Dr. Elkins. I have dealt with many doctors over the course of Cory's condition and rarely if ever, has had a doctor taken the time from their busy schedule to personally call me. You talked to me at the length about Cory's condition and by the end of our conversation you advised me that in renewing all the facts that you would at no cost to Cory do the lazer surgey. I was in the room when you performed the surgery and throughout the entire surgery you were constantly speaking to Cory in such a calm and reassuring manner and putting him entirely at ease. I also would like to commend you on the wonderful staff that you emply. In preparing for the surgery there were many tests that had to be done prior to the surgery and were very difficult as Cory cannot move at all is confined to a wheelchair. Your staff not only found a solution for doing the tests but also was able to get Cory from his wheelchair to the surgery chair. In closing, Dr. Elk more

I cannot begin to thank you enough for changing my life! One week ago you performed laser vision correction surgery on me and...WOW! As you know from my post-operative visit my vision is better than perfect now. Despite the fact that my vision was not that bad to begin with, I hated wearing glasses and they were a necessity on the road and even in the operating room to see the monitors clearly. Your staff was wonderful (especially Neal) and provided me with a quick, efficient and seamless experience. The procedure itself was surprisingly short and apinless.
