I went here with some friends and we were not impressed. The service was HORRIBLE! It took over 10 minutes for us to get water and the place was practically empty! If it's that sl...

OLeeeeeeee 9/25/2006

So far, this is my favorite tapas place in the city! The tapenade is the best, as the friendly staff will always let you know. The Sangria is good, though nothing too special. I definitely recommend the fried cream dessert. I went one Saturday night with a group of 4 and without reservations, so there was a long wait, and the crowd at the bar was a little much, but no worries, one of the best cocktail places in the city. I went again last Tuesday and at around 9, the place was packed with Flamenco afficionado. The waitress was really sweet and the food was incredible. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone, and I'll be back for sure! Pros: food, sevice, wine Cons: very crowded more

Exceptional 9/21/2006

My girlfriends and I went here last night for our monthly girls night out dinner. Our whole experience at ole was amazing!!! The hostess was beyond accommodating, especially considering we changed our reservation from 5 to 8 people at the last minute. Our waitress was very attentive, making sure our glasses of wine/water were full at all times, in addition to recommending some wonderful items off the menu. I walked in to work the next morning and have already been spreading the word about ole to my coworkers - it's a definite must!!!! Pros: food, sevice more

AFTER WORK 9/21/2006

ole is the perfect place to go after work for a few drinks and a few tapas. The bar, the patio, or small lounge are great places to sit. Or of course you could sit inside. My friends and I go there almost every Tuesday and enjoy it every time. What better than a refreshing Sangria for after work? The tapas are only $4, and the drinks $3 (or $3.50 I'm not sure) during the longuest happy hour I have ever seen... (2 pm!!! to 7pm) Pros: happy hour prices Cons: I have to drive back home after.... more

Great tastes, friendly service 9/21/2006

We've found the best tapas in LA! The service was friendly and fast, the food excellent, and the Spanish wines were amazing. I was very impressed, and so were my guests. The Gambas con Jamon, sizzling garlic shrimp, was the favorite, yet the sauteed mushrooms were also a surprising treat. It was definitely worth the trip as we all had such a good time Pros: food, sevice, wine Cons: a little bit noisy more

Madrid in Studio City 9/21/2006

better than going to spain, real deal paella, wonderful sangria and more at this tapas venture in Studio City. for sure the best spanish in LA Pros: parking, wheelchair access, cozi atmosphere more

Best for large dinner parties. 9/20/2006

I went on a Tuesday night when they had the Flamenco dancers and had a great time. I had planned to have a quieter evening talking with a friend but found it a bit difficult over the noise. The tapas and wine made up for it though and we soon were having a great time. The patio area is much better suited for romantic couples while the inside is great for large parties. Pros: Flamenco Show, Variety Cons: Parking, Service more

Spaniard experience 8/23/2006

My friends and I stumbled upon this place by accident. It seemed like a popular spot. We stepped inside to check it out. It reminded me of the month I spent in Spain last year. We ordered a variety of tapas from the menu, and we were impressed. The live music was great. I felt like I was a regular. I highly recommend it. Pros: food, ambiance, service more

tapas and spanish wines - sort of 8/17/2006

We decided to try Ole after a month in Spain and -- IN OUR OPINION, it wasn't at all the same. To our taste, ,the food was mediocre, the room with blaring music was noisy, the cava was second-rate, and the hostess and wait-staff ranged from diffident to snotty. We'll never go back. Too bad - the real Spanish food is excellent and lively, a brilliant cuisine in both the traditional and post-modern style and nothing beats a good cava wine in the summer -- but this was ... NOT remarkable. IMHO Cons: well they do have valet parking.... more

great food ....great local spot .... 8/2/2006

calamari, bruschetta and sangria are great things to start off with. stay away from almond soup unless you have already acquired the taste. more

Worse restaurant in the Sherman Oaks area 7/28/2006

Service was terrible! In the fast food restaurants they have better service, Food was ok just ok more

Food is quite tasty...wait staff is stuck-up 7/27/2006

Wannabe actors and actresses should consider fast food vs. lively restaurants. This aside, the bruschetta is delicious...where do they get that awesome cheese?? more

As spanish as possible... 7/24/2006

I've lived in Sevilla for four years and this is the closest I've come to having a taste of Spain. While a lot of the so called ""Tapas"" restaurants in Los Angeles try to put their own culinary spin on Spanish cusine (spicying it up for people that don't know the difference between Mexico and Spain ), this restaurant sticks to authentic flavors. The Gambas al ajillo are amazing, their selection of Spanish wines is both top notch and inexpensive. While it can get noisy on weekends, during the week it is mellow and romantic. Pros: food, service, sangria Cons: very busy every time I went there more

We know Spanish food and this meal was horrible ! 7/21/2006

We've eaten at Ole 3 times prior and it was good. Tonight's food was horrible! My wife, son, his wife and two boys were there for dinner. From the quality of the food, most of their customers have no idea what Spanish food is let alone any good food. more

try the fried goat cheese w/ honey, a must!!!!! 7/16/2006

I had an amazing time, the ambiance was very...tapas, the service was the best, very caring, and informative, a great selections of dishes, perfect for sharing. great wine selection and the best tasting sangria...ah i almost forgot to mention their awesome Mojitos. i'll definetely come back with friends. Pros: decor, service, food Cons: not in the west side... more

I'll never go back again 6/11/2006

Alright, so let me give you the low down on my experience. The ""owner"" should find a new business....Not only did we have to stand around waiting for a host to only find that it was the ""owner"", he then turned in to our server. Are you kidding me. Our drinks took forever to get maybe it's because he should be doing something else besides being a waiter and actually take care of his restaurant. There were other servers there, why weren't they waiting on us. What, is he so cheap that he has to take tips and not let his servers make some money. Yea sure, it looks nice, the food is alright but the experience was horrible. I don't want to be waited on by the owner. Sure, if he could handle being a host, a server, a bartender and make me happy, it might work. But it doesn't. So let your employees do their job because you're lousy at it. Believe me, I know lots of people in the valley and I will make sure that you get no business from any one that I know of. Good luck staying opened because all I can see is failure. Trust me and just don't go, the sangria is good but it's not worth it. more

Give them a break... 5/13/2006

I have been reading the reviews and was very shocked to hear that many complaints are due to the long wait. I have been there 3 times and have a reservation for sturday April 15. Yes the food takes a little long (15 minutes) to get to the table, but it its always fresh and piping hot! I understand that the food is made to order. It is well worth the wait!! sip on a nice drink, relax and enjoy the atmosphere and the cool music. The service is above average, and the food speaks for itself. whoever is cooking these meals puts a whole lot of work into the taste and the presentation. So if you are in a super rush GO to Mac Donald!! but if you wanna relax and have good time with friends...its a MUST that you check this place out!!! Pros: food, ambiance, sangria Cons: noisy more

Had a great time here 4/2/2006

I was here with about 24 other people and had a great time. The service was very good, the food was excellent and the atmosphere was relaxing. The flatiron steak(Filet a la Plancha) was excellent and highly recommended! I have had $30 steaks that weren't as tender or flavorful as this little number. Ole could be a romantic spot if they could make the seating a little more private, but as it was, it is one large, open u-shaped dining area. My only complaint would be that they didn't pay attention to our drinks...it was a 30th B-day party and they certainly could have at least doubled the bill with alcohol. I think everyone was having a good time and forgot about the drinking, which is a loss to Ole considering the mark-up on alcohol and the tip it could have generated. Pros: Atmosphere, Food Cons: Noisy more

The Truth 2/28/2006

After reading ALL the reviews about Ole, I would like to add my opinion. Many people sound so negative, picky and just plain rude! Have any of you that are complaining about the service ever worked in a restaurant? I've waited tables in the past and its tough, cut the waiters a break. I've been to Ole at least 10 times. And yes, sometimes the service was just average. But on a whole, it's great! Very friendly. The food is delicious, and the atmosphere rocks. I would agree that the music is a bit loud for a restaurant, but this is my neighborhood joint, so I feel I need to defend it. All I have to say is...if you're interested in tapas check this place out! And form your own opinion. Especially on Wednesdays, when it's half-price on spanish wine...that's when I go! Overall, lighten up people. Pros: Tapas & Dessert, Table Service, Wine list Cons: Music, Bar Service more

Great place for groups of ""fun"" people! 2/26/2006

I read all the reviews here and and almost did not go but I am glad I did. People who post their comments here are only 1 out of 100. Ole is a great place. I've gone back several times since my last visit last month and I've been super impressed. If so many reviews say their bad, then why are they packed everytime I go there? I do know that LA people have such high expectations, they forget to enjoy the experience. Ole has great Tapas to share for group parties. Service slows down time-time but oh well, it's busy and people are so demanding. I love their wine list. They have amazing Spanish wines and their drink list is great for the ladies(Guys need a few more ""manly"" drinks!). I highly recommend this place. Pros: Ambience, Food Cons: Can't think any more

Ole was SO DISAPPOINTING 12/1/2005

Went there last night with a friend--ordered drinks and several small plates. Waited almost 20 minutes for our food to arrive. Later, when the food arrived, we pulled an adjacent empty table over to ours so we had room for everything. About 10 minutes later, the hostess came over and asked to TAKE AWAY the extra table(!!!) despite the fact that our order could clearly not fit on one small table and there were several other empty tables around us that could've been used (plus many other tables for 4 taken by only two people). Rude! Everytime we ordered another drink, the waitress disappeared for 20 minutes. When we asked for the check AND a last round, the drinks came one at a time (with 10 minutes in between) and still no check! The food is okay here, but the service is SO BAD that it completely ruins the experience. Pros: comfy seating Cons: service, overpriced more
