We have taken all of our animals to Dr. Hicks for several years and have always been pleased with the services and treatment our animals received. Dr. Hicks and his staff have always gone the extra mile for us. On a couple of occasions he met us after hours due to an emergency. We watched Dr. Hicks save our pet's life. We saw first hand how much he cares about the animals. We would not even think about taking out pets to anyone else. We highly recommend Dr. Hicks and Old Town Animal Hospital. more

I started searching for a new vet a few months ago & was referred here by a friend! I have to say, I am absolutely happy with the staff and doctors here. My dogs have been well taken care of every visit. We always get seen right away, never a long wait! Although the prices are somewhat high, you will not find them cheaper anywhere else along with the great care :) I would for sure recommend them to anyone looking for a new vet! more

Dr. Hicks and his staff are wonderful. It is like an old time vet's office. Nothing fancy, just caring for the animals. I have called him on weekends and holidays and he always calls me back. I would highly recommend him! more

This has been our vet for years and I could not believe it when I read some of those bad reviews. We have always been treated great by these guys and I can tell you for a fact that they are the lowest cost vet clinic in the area, BY FAR. I hear stories from my friends about their vet bills and I am in shock at the prices and recommend them take their pets to Old Town Animal Hospital. I don't think it is necessarily that the prices are so much less than those other places, but the fact that they don't force you get a bunch of unnecessary procedures that jack up the bill. The only downside to this clinic is there can sometimes there can be a long wait, especially on Wednesdays, which is their discount day. I personally just try to schedule my appointment on a day other than Wednesday to avoid the crowd, since the prices are already better than most other places. All in all, I would highly recommend this clinic to anyone with pets in the Katy area. more

My 2 year old dog went into the office for a routine procedure and I recieved a call a few hours later that he was DEAD! The receptionist called my house and told me to hold for the doctor and when he came on the phone it was the most heartless explaination to anyone that their baby was dead. By the marks on his legs I believe they held him down and stressed him out so bad he had a sezuire and died. My husband deals with death on a daily basis and what ligature marks are and they were present by his examination on the dog. And when we confronted them we were given multiple stories as to what had happen by the vet. One story she was in the room giving the IV and the next she was in the building while it was being done by a tech. Beware if you love your family member because they don't care. They killed him and them had the nerve to charge me for his cremation. more

We have gone to this vet like 5 visits They do not care about your animals and lie to you about prices to get you in And hand you a bill for 3 x the amount You told you once and confirmed the bill charge and when you give them credit card they charge higher than what they told. Feel sick about this place! Never recommend! more

I moved to Katy a few years ago and started using Old Town Animal Hospital for my 2 dogs and have been a loyal customer ever since. My first visit was on a Wednesday, when they offer 25% off vaccines. The office was very busy and there was a bit of a wait, but Dr. Hicks still took the time to treat me and my pets with care and respect. Since then, I try and schedule my appointments on days other than Wednesday because I don't mind paying a little more to not have to wait, especially since Old Town Animal Hospital has the lowest prices I have found. I am very happy with the service and care I have received over the years. more

This dr loves my dogs the way I do. I got both my dogs fixed at this clinic and they turned out fine. The dr gave me all the instructions I needed in order to make my babies comfortable. Dr LOVES my dogs and makes sure I am able to make the besst choice as far as certain treatments etc go. Try this office its well worth it. more

I take my dogs to Dr Hicks, he has been nothing but helpful, caring and informative. He is a ""no frills"" type of vet. He will NOT offer you services, treatment, surgery that your dog DOES NOT need. The clinic is clean, well maintained and has a wonderful sitting area! Every time I have had an issue I have called Dr Hicks, he never hesitated to call me back and does not demand the dogs to be seen yet again in the clinic for extra fees etc. The staff has always been so helpful; they listen to your needs and really take their time with you. The care I have gotten for my dogs has been A+ all the way. My dogs are healthy and I know when they sick I can count on Dr Hicks. I highly recommend dr Hicks from old town animal hospital. more

Dr Hicks and all his staff are the best vet clinic in town. I love them! they are so caring and most of all are not out to get you for all your money. they genuinely want to help your pet and only do what they know will help. I adopted a stray who after having it for 2wks began to have seizures. Dr Hick saw him several times and was very honest about what could be done but at the same time practical he advised that I could run all these costly test to find out what was causing the seizures but then all I have is a costly diagnosis, so he suggested that we just treated him for the seizures first. He could have said I had to do all those test like Banfield hospital told me do, but he did not want to take my money. He was very patient explaining about seizures in dogs and told me he had a dog that at 2yrs old started having them and he put him on meds and the dog is 12 years old and has had a good life. I took my dog in to him several times and he did not charge me on a couple of occasions for the visits. When I call the staff is so nice and are quick to get back to me. I can't recommend Dr. Hicks and his clinic enough. I tell everyone I can to take their pets there. more

Wonderful Dr, staff and clinic. They have reasonable fees and care about the animals. Staff is always helpful and will find ways to fit you in. The Dr and his techs are kind and knowledgable. more

I have gotten top service from this clinic. Dr is always available to his patients. His very practical and honest with all your pet issues. I take our dogs to him and we are happy with his service. The staff is also great. At times there is a wait but that is because this office is busy and he takes time to answer your questions and concerns. more

We took a very sick stray cat we had been caring for after-hours for emergency treatment recently. Unfortunately, the cat was close to dying with multiple untreatable diseases and had to be euthanized. Dr. Hicks was compassionate, caring, warm, and professional. He performed some basic tests, but didn't try to sell us unnecessary and exhorbitantly priced tests and treatment. When the time came to explain his diagnosis and our options, he was honest and down to earth. We suspect that he may have undercharged us for the hours of treatment he provided - and with it being in the evening, but we can't say for sure. The man has a HUGE heart. Last week we received a card from his office expressing their sadness for our loss. We highly recommend Old Towne and Dr. Hicks. Katy, TX is lucky to have him! Update: Dr. Hicks is now our regular vet and treated our cat's dental problems with expert care. I love his office - free coffee, ice cream, video games for the kids---great kid-friendly, family-friendly clinic! more

Dr. Hicks has been my pet's vet for many years. My furry, four legged children have been under the care of Dr Hicks from the time they were babies thru the hardest time of having to say good bye to them. They are very lucky to have him as their doctor. Dr Hicks has always been there when we needed him the most. Cannot ask for a more caring and dedicated doctor. Thanks Dr Hicks. more

I have two labs that I take to Dr. Hicks. The staff at O.T.A.H. is very professional and the pricing is very reasonable. Dr. Hicks and his staff provided excellent care to diagnose a bacteria my dog received while recovering from a snake bite. It took a couple of tests but I felt they were very concerned with my dog's health and worked as quickly as they could to get him the correct treatment. In fact, they were able to find a very inexpensive treatment for the bacteria rather than using a very common expensive medicine they had on hand. As a 'true client' I highly recommend O.T.A.H. And although I am not family, Dr. Hicks and his staff always make me feel like extended family when I have to bring my dogs in. more

We have been using this excellent Vet very for about 20 years through three dogs and received nothing but very good, kind and compassionate care for my pets. Reminds me of an old town Doctor. more

HUH???!!! Those few foul, off-base reviews - all in late December - make you wonder if there is some kind of semi-organized vendetta and character assassination going on!!! Really!!! We've been taking four dogs to Dr. Hicks for more than five years and he is EASILY one of the most knowledgeable, experienced, skilled and compassionate vets I've encountered anywhere - and we've lived in North Carolina, Ohio and Pennsylvania as well as Texas. In fact, we ran into a very questionable, opportunist vet in Katy some years ago - that gave us an """"emergency"""" call when we were in vacation in Las Vegas, trying to sell us some expensive - and completely unnecessary - dental work on a 12-year-old dog. Dr. Hicks, by contrast, is highly principled and caring, and has been known to make """"house calls"""" at night to ranches to attend to sick horses. THAT'S how caring and expert Dr. Hicks is! more

Dr Hicks has been my vet since 1985. He is the most knowledgeable, caring and compassionate vet I have ever known. I have more than 15 horses he cares for, dogs and cats. I had a dog that was allergic to everything on the planet just about and took medication his whole life (he lived to be 13) and he was a 90 lb mutt. Dr Hicks worked with us to always keep him healthy and whenever I had to leave town he stayed at the clinic and was treated like a King! He could not have been in better hands. When his time came, he was so supportive, it made it a little easier. I have had him at my place at ALL hours of the night. He has stayed with my animals all night at times. Whenever I need him, he is there. Except for my first dog, all of my animals have been rescues. I live 45 minutes from Katy and I would never consider taking them to anyone else. I live in the middle of nowhere, on a dead end (literally) and have many dumped and abused animals. One of my dogs had been so abused it took us 3 full months to touch him. When I finally did, I grabbed him and got him to Dr Hicks. He was a long haired dog and he was extremely matted. Michelle Hicks spent hours shaving him to relieve his pain and he had heart worms, no teeth and was petrified, but with the loving care he received from Dr Hicks, he lived with me for 10 years until recently developing cancer. Making the decision to end his suffering was hard, but again, he made it easier. I was able to bring my other dogs to the clinic to be with him in the end. My newest dog, Domino was found in Fulshear covered in mange, with about 60 shot pellets spread over his entire body and a 9 mm bullet in his leg. He spent approximately 2 months at the clinic and is now the picture of health and a great dog. more
