Okemos Animal Hospital

The staff at OAH is truly dedicated to doing what is best for the animal, while still being cost effective and keeping my budget in mind. They handle the animals with care, kindness, and respect, and have always absolutely wonderful medical care for the 5 years I have been a client. I really could not recommend this place more- there are many vets closer to me now that I have moved, and I will still drive my pets 20 minutes to come here! Very convenient hours- they're open late most days, and have Saturday hours! more

I cannot say enough good things about Okemos Animal Hospital. I began going there about 4 yrs ago after another local vet had diagnosed my 11yr old dog with cancer. This other hospital would only recommend surgery and that's it. In desperation I took my girl to Okemos Animal Hospital and I'm so glad I did. Dr Perkowski was my life saver. Not only did she agree that surgery was out of the question but she treated her with such care and compassion that I really don't know what I would have done without her. Toward the end she didn't even charge me to see her and would go out of the way to suggest remedies that I could afford. When the time finally came, she and the rest of the staff could not have been more compassionate. Now I have a crazy two yr old pup and the patience she shows him is so much greater than mine. Take your animals there, you will not regret it!! more

Dr. Alfonso has been exemplary in caring for my Maine Coon. My cat was diagnosed with 'megacolon' 5 years ago. Dr. Alfonso helped me to medically manage it for a year, then a surgical route had to be taken. MSU did the surgery, twice, however the problem persists. Throughout all, and to this day, Dr. Alfonso has been extremely competent with a rarely seen condition, very professional yet with a lot of care and warmth, and he doesn't sugar-coat things - he tells it like it is, gives you the full picture, and provides information re: avenue's to take that will help your pet.\r \r He's very accommodating in scheduling, his fees are very reasonable, and given my 10+ years of visiting him I'd highly recommend him to anyone. more

my australian shepherd started having seizures out of the blue, and they became frequent within two months. i took her to a vet in this area, and they made me go through expensive, pointless testing to tell me nothing, and made me feel bad when i questioned it. i paid hundreds and hundreds of dollars. i became fed up, and went to okemos animal hospital and dr. alfonso was amazing! he gave me so much info, and explained everything, and even supported my decision to go with wholistic medication. she is now seizure free and LOVES going to the vet! this place is great, and very knowledgeable. and they do NOT try to soak money out of you. highly recommended! more

Okemos Animal Hospital Rocks! We have three cats and one was most recently diagnosed with cancer. Both Dr. Alfonso and Dr Perkowski gave our kitty the best of care and showed great compassion when we had to eventually put him to sleep. They were very supportive and helped us make good care decisions for him and were willing bend over backward to make sure the care they provided was appropriate and effective. \r I would recommend them to any dog or cat owner. more

I can't recommend Okemos Animal Hospital highly enough. Dr. Alfonso amputated a leg for our cat Wally last summer, and took a lot of personal interest in the case, doing research to determine how to give him the best quality of life. The staff was also very caring and supportive, and were compassionate toward both Wally and my family. The price was also really reasonable for the amount of labor and follow-up that the cat needed (their boarding prices are also good). We feel very fortunate to have had such good care in a tough situation. more

Dr. Alfonso and his staff have taken great care of my cats, one of which has a food allergy and has gone through some really rough patches. The staff and Doctors are always loving, kind and friendly with the cats and that helps make them more comfortable. On top of that they provide great services, convenient clinic hours, and top notch care. Drive by the hospital on off hours and on the weekends and you can actually see hospital staff taking the dogs out. How many clinics do you see doing that? It was a first for me! I can't speak highly enough of Okemos Animal Hospital, and will miss everyone there now that we have moved to Iowa. more

My dogs LOVE going to Okemos Animal Hospital. The staff there is very friendly and the vets are honest. I have been to a couple vets before who have lied and exaggerated my dogs health problems just for more money. Its horrible how there are some people out there that just want to rip you off and pretend to care about animals. Okemos Animal Hospital is not like that at all. The service is great, the people are great and most important my dogs are comfortable and happy there. I strongly recommend EVERYBODY to go to Okemos Animal Hospital. I have switched from a horrible vet and have had horrible experiences at horrible hospitals and am happy that I have finally found a place that my dogs like. more
