Very displeased with the nail service. This was the worst pedicure I've ever gotten anywhere. I purchased an Amazon Local coupon for a mani/pedi. The tech, Carly, who worked on my nails is fresh out of school (literally, high school- she still wears her high school ring), and is very ""green"" and inexperienced. She's nice, but should not be doing nails. Here's what happened:\r \r I've had probably 50 or 60 pedicures in my life and this one is the worst I've ever had. When I go for a pedicure I look for three things: exfoliation, calf massage, toenail polish. \r \r I'm 8 months pregnant. I can barely reach my toes so I splurged to purchase this coupon in hopes of getting my nails done. Carly took me back. \r \r 1) Calf Massage. She did NO massage on my calves, whatsoever. \r \r 2) Exfoliation. She slathered on the salt scrub and lightly rubbed it in and then rinsed it off. \r She used the pumice block very, very lightly. So light, in fact, when I got home that night, the bottom of my feet felt like sandpaper! My feet are not bad normally but now they feel scratchy when I try to put on socks or when I rub them against fabric or skin. \r \r 3) Polish. She began to polish my toenails and dropped the hot pink polish bottle and it splattered the wall, my shoes, my feet, and the wash basin where my feet had been. She didn't apologize. She looked flustered and lightly wiped off the flip-flops I brought with me. These flops have rhinestones on them and the leather bands are white. Now they are hot pink. She then started to pour bleach into the basin while I hovered my legs over it. Hello! A) I'm pregnant and should not be breathing those fumes, B) One splash and she'd have ruined my clothing with bleach! I quickly corrected her ""uh, no, you should not be pouring bleach while I'm sitting here"". She stopped and tried to get the polish off the wall. At this point I'm really ticked off. She has no experience, doesn't know how to apologize, nor how to handle a tense situation. \r \r As for the manicure- it was ""so-so"". She couldn't keep the file on my fingers, it kept jabbing my hands and I took my rings off because she kept coming dangerously close to filing them! \r \r I woke up the next morning and the polish was already ""pulling away"" for lack of a better term from my cuticles and looks 2 weeks old. Whatever. I cannot believe a business would try to solicit more clients and stick them with someone who clearly has no idea what she's doing. \r \r I will NOT return to Ohana for any type of nail service. Completely unprofessional hacks. more

I have used Aveda concept salons exclusively for years and all of them have had high quality, well trained staff, and Aveda products cannot be beat...environmentally friendly, do what they promise and smell great. \r After ""losing"" my last Aveda stylist who had done my hair for years (she went to teach at the Aveda Institute in South End), I worried I'd never find one as good...then I discovered Kia at Ohana. She is fantastic! I have a stacked bob, which I've learned is a difficult cut to master. All my previous stylists I had to work with & eventually they learned. I came to Kia with a poorly done cut and highlights and she transformed my hair. Kia gave me the best cut I've ever had the very first time, and perfect color...exactly what i wanted. She is a true artist and professional. I've always experienced wonderful customer service at Ohana...from reception to assistants to stylists....no complaints here! Definitely a fan of Ohana & highly recommend for hair services. more

Check out their other reviews as well...\r \r \r This business offers discounted services to people who post positive comments about them in order to gain a better online profile. Believe all negative postings and be very wary of positive comments as they come from bribes.\r \r \r more

I visited Ohana spa for a color and cut and found it to be a great experience. My stylist was professional and courtesy and it was an overall good experience. I would recommend them to friends and family! more

Terrible Service and Misquoted Pricing 5/22/2012

I have been to Ohana twice now and will never go back. The customer service is terrible and they obviously care more about the money they make than the people they serve. When I scheduled my last appointment, I was told by Melissa (a manager) that the fee would be $35.00 since I was appointed with a junior stylist. I had no problem seeing a junior stylist and thought a $35.00 fee was fairly priced. I did not have unrealistic expectations and certainly expected to get a better cut than I could have gotten at a Famous Hair. I was totally disappointed. Even with a picture in hand and consultation before with the stylist, I got nothing more than a trim. The cut took all of five minutes and the blow drying/styling about 10 minutes. After the appointment, the stylist walked me up front and started a sales pitch telling me about all of the products she used. I wasn't really offended by this but I did think it was tacky - if I wanted the products, I would have asked her for them. I did buy a new round brush since my hair kept getting caught in the handle of the one I had at home. I was told it would not happen with that brush. Before anything was rung up, I was immediately asked if I wanted to add gratuity, which I did. The total ended up being just shy of $72.00. The haircut price quoted to me was incorrect (it was more, of course) and the brush was $20.00. I used the brush once and my hair got tangled in it. The receipt said that refunds were allowed as long as the product was not overly used or make-up. So I went back a couple of days later to take the brush back only to find their doors were locked a half hour before their posted closing time. I called the next day to let them know that I did try to return the brush and wanted to be sure that there wouldn't be a problem if I couldn't make it back for a few more days. I was told it was not a problem. I went back three days later and was then told that I could not receive a refund for the brush - only a store credit. A crowd of employees was congregating at the front and one of them happened to be Melissa. I told the lady at the front that I would prefer to have a refund because I was not planning on returning. Melissa told me a refund would not be possible. I asked to speak with the owner and Melissa said she could not give me the owner's information. She never offered to take down my information and give it to the owner but she did take it down when I asked her to. That was five days ago and I have yet to hear anything, further proving that the staff of Ohana could care less about customer satisfaction. There are plenty of other salons in this area that do care of their client's experience and I will gladly give those salons my business. Even Famous Hair is better than this place. more
