Dr. Mellinger may not be a people person but he is a ANIMAL lover and that should be all that matters. He is an excellent doctor. If you base your Vets ability agains his personality, maybe your not looking for a vet but a entertainer. I have gone to this Vet for 20 some yrs and have never had an issue, I know he is an introvert and accept him as such. Not everyone is outgoing, we should just accept each others differences. I trust Dr. Mellinger with my animals care because I know he really CARES about animals, and that is all that matters to me! more

Today I stopped by there hoping to find a local facility to take care of my pets? basic veterinary needs. I spoke with a Dr. Mellinger, and told him that I was looking for a reliable, caring facility for my pets. He asked me if I were just riding around looking for one. I told him that I was not. When I asked him about basic services there, he stated that there were no guarantees in his profession or with his services performed there. \r \r I found him to be rude, unprofessional, and uncaring when it comes to meeting the simple needs of animals. When I determined that his facility was not one that I wanted to engage, I left. He followed me to my car, demanded to know who I was, and continued to verbally abuse me. He stated that he had thirty-five years in the business. (After being in the business this long, perhaps he doesn?t need any new clients. If that were the case, I would have preferred him telling me so.) more

Dr. Mellinger at Northwood provides wonderful care for small animals. Clearly an animal lover (especially dogs), he deals with health maintenance and surgical treatments. It is pretty easy to get an appointment, but there are days that are very busy and there can be a bit of a wait. Costs seem comparable to other area vets, and emergencies are handled well. The office does have to send some samples out to area labs, so you sometimes have to wait a bit for test results, but this is no different than the majority of other vets in the area. A nice treat is the wood carving in front of the office. more
