Best

We have had experience in the bar area for dinner and just for drinks. We love the quietness, the staff is awesome and seems to know what we want before we even say anything. Ev...

Worst

The service was horrible. It took 45 mintues to an hour to get a pizza. I have NEVER waited that long to get a pizza at any other Italian resturant.

Won't go here again...ever... 8/9/2002

The garlic bread wasn't toasted, the antipasto was poorly presented, the service was slow, and things forgotten. The taste of the food was mediocre. I was hoping for this to be a lovely dinner with accordian music in the background, but found it to be a stuffy restaurant with poor service (the waiter asked how things were while walking past the table). Also, it was very overpriced for what we could have gotten elsewhere for half the cost. We won't be going to this restaurant again...I had such high hopes for a ""four-generation"" italian meal...its just too bad it didn't live up to the hype. Pros: ambiance, refillable soft drink, mozzarella sticks Cons: poor service, yucky garlic bread, overpriced more

Oh My! 8/8/2002

I have not had any pizza better than Nonna Emilia's! It is so worth the wait. I take all my friends and family there. Pros: Great food!, Cheerful staff Cons: Not so comfortable se more

Bring appetites! 7/31/2002

A true Italian experience, only fresh ingredients used with family recipes. Of course the portions are too generous but the entrees are a good value. You get antipasto, salad and garlic bread. I always bring half my dinner home for the next day's lunch. Pizza is good too. It gets crowded on weekends so dine early or late to avoid waiting (up to an hour.) There is a nice covered porch area and bar if you don't mind waiting you could listen to the roving accordianist. more

The Best Italian Food 7/30/2002

I'd have to say that this is the best Italian restaurant I have been to in the Portland area. The atmosphere is very romantic with a wide selection of wine and beer. Overall the food is the best Italian I've had. The food is also somewhat reasonable and you get very good value for what you pay. If you go, don't forget to try the spaghetti. Pros: Reasonable, Good Parking Cons: Sometimes Crowded, Decent Service more

Nasty Emilia's 6/29/2002

Nonna's is near my hame and I tried it three times a couple of years back. The first time, I had the pizza and I'd say it was alright, but a little soggy. The second visit I had a pasta dish (can't recall exactly which one) and it was just terrible. The sauce tasted like it came straight from a chef boyardee can. Service was below average at best. I decided to give the place one more chance since everyone kept saying how great it was. I ordered the calzone and it was huge...like a huge brick that is. Not like back in New York. Again, the servers were cold and unfriendly. Three strikes, your out. When I drive by with the family, we still say there's old Nasty's. I'll never go back. more

Best Pizza in Town!

Editorial
  • In Short
A lively accordionist roams the dining room on weekends, giving the place a kitschy if not somewhat authentic Italian feel. The plump, chewy focaccia and heavily battered...
