Best

The owner is the most kindhearted individuals! She take the time to listen to you, your story how the kids are doing etc. I feel at peace leaving my children here.

Worst

I went for a tour and while the director was polite and answeered my questions, I can confirm the owner was rude. She was on the phone when I walked in and talking very loud about...

Quality education... 5/16/2011

The education is tailored to the child, so if your child is advanced, they will expose her/him to the next level of academics. In the higher level elementary program, the kids are exposed to half Montessori, half regular school program, to ease their transition to regular school system after completing Kindergarten/1st grade. Unlike other Montessori's, where there are teacher's aides, all the teachers are fully credentialed in Montessori methods as well having at least a Bachelor's degree. more

Confirmed: Owner is Rude. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND 12/17/2010

I went for a tour and while the director was polite and answeered my questions, I can confirm the owner was rude. She was on the phone when I walked in and talking very loud about taxes and tax credits. She barely acknowledged me dispute my appointment. After the tour, and after she got off the phone, she said she might be able to 'get me in' after the director said the was availability. The director looked uncomfortable and the owner quickly back-peddled and corrected herself. She did not introduce herself nor did she even take the time to say goodbye. I don't see how anyone could feel comfortable leaving their kids with a women like that. more

Newport Montessori is a great learning environment 7/7/2009

I sent my son to the Toddler 1 program at Newport Montessori and it was wonderful. He would still be there if we did not leave the state. The teachers were excellent and it was a great environment for my son. As far as the comments regarding the owner and office manager, I did NOT have the experience the other parents did below. They were very nice and accommodating especially with a first time parent leaving their child. The owner is from the East Coast, so there is a difference in communication, but to say that she is rude is extreme. Overall, it was a great school for my family and we would love to move back to CA and send our son their until he was ready to move into the 1st grade. I recommended this school to several people and each one has been able to place their child in the school and are happy. more

worried about the dogs next door 1/20/2009

I noticed these are some big dogs are being trained to jump over obstacle next door (in the sable). Also, the fence between the daycare and the sable is very low and it seems that the dogs can jump over the fence easily. Why doesn't the daycare at least make the fence higher? more

Good teachers, Rude Owner 10/15/2008

I would agree w/ some of the reviews listed below including about the owner. The Teachers are friendly, and the facility is very clean, which is why we continue to keep our 3 yr old in this school. However I am not necessarily sure how each child could get the individual attention necessary when the pre-school classes are maxed out at 30 kids. However the owner/office mgr is very rude and loud and speaks very disrespectfully to everyone including the parents (i.e. her customers) more

Bitter Sweet 4/15/2008

I have mixed feelings on this school. I sent my son there for one year. I was very happy with the teachers of this school and how clean it was. However, the owner...(the first person you see at the desk when you walk in) is down right rude. You have to catch her on a good day and maybe you would get a hello. She would yell at the teachers right in front of the parents AND THE KIDS. That made me feel very uncomfortable. Plus I don't yell like that around my son, so it made feel uneasy to know that he would see that behavior at any given time. I continued to send my son there because of the great interaction that I saw my son was getting from the teachers. However as time went on I noticed how much the owner would try to nickle and dime you. The tuition is very expensive and you would think that with how much they are charging they would at least provide both snacks. But they require you to bring in snacks for the whole class sometimes twice a month. I also was required to pay THREE registration fees of 150 - 175. By the third one is when I decided to send my son somewhere else. I now send my son to a school where the tuition is half the price of what I paid there and it includes lunch AND both snacks. He still gets the love and affection that he had at the other school and he is learning exactly the same. I don't think I would recomend this school to anyone else. You can get the same quality care and education at another school. more

Great find, caring teachers & country setting 11/12/2007

The teachers and facilties are great. I'd highly recommend it, having seriously checked out other preschools in the area. It's close to work and easy to access at lunch, but it feels like you're out in the country with the horses and open spaces (some airport noise, but not awful). Our 4 year-old loves it there and has learned so much more than what we could have done at home.\r \r I understand the earlier negative comments, but it doesn't affect the kids. Sometimes it's a cold welcome at drop-off or pick-up time, but that's just the administration that keeps raising the tuition. The teachers are excellent and very caring. more

What An Eye Opener... 7/16/2007

Finally a school with outstanding teachers, an excellent curriculum, and an exceptional atmosphere. The school is clean, the teachers are great and the neighborhood is safe. My daughter is in the toddler 1 room and can not get enough of it. The teachers in there are creative, nurturing, and unique. I am extremely pleased with my daughter and everything she has learned in such a short amount of time. Overall I highly recommend Newport Montessori School. more

Great school w/excellent curriculum 10/8/2006

My son who is 3 years old just started in their preschool program. The class is very structured and they have excellent curriculum program. Teachers are very loving and approachable, its only been a month seen he started the school but I can see the changes in my son in terms of emotionally, socially and cognitive aspects. I highly recommend this school to those parents whose looking for great school. more

Nurturing school 10/8/2006

Great with children 6/9/2006

I want everyone to know how great Newport Montessori has been for my family. My son was diagnosed with a learning disability at a young age. I was extrememly anxious about placing him in school but Newport Montessori immediately eased my nerves. They have been so accepting of my son...the teachers have been great about working with him and giving him the individual attention that he needs to succeed in school. Montessori has proven to be a great method for my son - I think they should use the Montessori method in all schools! more

Excellent learning opportunity 6/9/2006

I have three children, all of whom have graduated or are currently attending the Newport Montessori School. My oldest, who graduated from this Montessori school 2 years ago, is now in a GATE program at his elementary school. I am confident that the education and skills that he received at Newport Montessori have greatly contributed to his current and ongoing success in school.\r I have one daughter who is in the toddler program and one daughter in preschool at this school. I am amazed at how quickly my 3 1/2 year old has been learning her letters and numbers. She is even beginning to write her first and last name! My two year old's vocabulary has greatly increased and she has also learned to recognize shapes and colors. Newport Montessori is an excellent school with educated, kind and efficient teachers. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS SCHOOL TO ANYONE AND EVERYONE! more
