Love the food! The best food I've had in a long time. The service was a little slow. But I didn't mind.

Fresh, quality food and the best service in Pittsburgh. Every time I go to Nakama I buy sushi and a dinner entree, but I end up with delicious leftovers that go to work with me the next day. While my co-workers are chewing on hot pockets and lean cuisines, I'm feasting on sesame chicken with sides of fried rice, mushrooms and vegetables. The staff has been friendly and helpful on every visit. Must do's: Sign up for the VIP rewards program; check your mail for valuable coupons; get valet parking; teach your friends how to use chop sticks. ENJOY! Best Food and atmosphere 9/17/2006

My husband and I go out to dinner with friends at least two times a month, and we go to Nakama every single time! Not only is the service excellent, and the food great but the atmosphere speaks for itself! I recommend it to anyone and everyone i talk to! Def #1 in PGH! more

whenever i go to nakama, i have a wonderful experience. the chefs are entertaining, you get a variety of items along with the meal, and the overall setting is perfect for a celebration or jsut a nice, casual dinner. more

Best sushi I have eaten at a very good price 9/17/2006

Excellent service and the food was beyond my expectation. I have eaten sushi in many places across the world and this is one of the best. Presentation was well done and the price was the best part. I would recommend this place to anyone who likes good sushi and Japenese food. Pros: excellent dining with a reasonable cost Cons: recommend reservations as it gets crowded more

Best sushi and hibachi bar in Pittsburgh 9/17/2006

The service and food are always excellent. I have tried almost everything on the menu and never got something I didn't enjoy! If you go on a busy Friday or Saturday enjoy a drink at the well stocked bar and order the sampler platter you won't be dissappointed. more

Best Sushi/Hibachi in the 'burg 9/17/2006

I have been going to Nakama since it has opened and it is by far the best sushi/japanese restaraunt in Pittsburgh. The atmosphere there makes for the ultimate dining experience with some of the best chefs in Pittsburgh and such a great location in the heart of South Side. Nakama is by far my most favorite place to go to eat.\r I've had sushi at other restaraunts such as Sushi Two, Yokoso, and Fish Market and they do not compare to Nakama. I met a guy at Nakama once who said that he travels all over the world, including Japan and he stated that Nakama has better sushi than anywhere!!! \r The bartenders are very friendly too.\r The VIP program that Nakama offers is very beneficial. I've already received a $10, free appetizer, $25 & $50 gift certificates. I cannot wait to get my $100 gift certificate.\r LOVE THIS PLACE!\r I eat there at least once or twice a week. \r My only complaint is that they need to expand the restaurant....... we need more NAKAMA! Best birthday date spot! 9/17/2006

I just moved to the city about a year ago. I always heard great things about Nakama and always talked about wanting to go so my boyfriend took me there on my birthday. The sushi was amazing! The sake and Japanese beer was fantastic! The service was and atmosphere was great! Sitting at the sushi bar and watching the chefs prepare our food was so much fun! Loved it! more

Awesome food 9/17/2006

LOVED the food and the atmosphere. The wait staff were friendly and polite. The food -- just WOW. The portions are huge and if you leave there hungry, it's your own fault. I can not wait to go there again! This is my new favorite place. Pros: AMAZING food and huge portions Cons: Need a private setting for a table for 2 -- that would be an awesome date night event more

Best Sushi in Town 9/17/2006

My husband and I love Nakama - it's not the ""tacky"" atmosphere my mind conjures up when I think of a Japanese Steakhouse. I love coming here with friends - it's a great place to cut loose and have a fun time - not stuffy. \r \r This weekend my husband and I came alone for the first time and sat at the sushi bar. It was warm and intimate. We had a fabulous time - feels like a New York scene - not the typical Pittsburgh.\r \r Love IT - thanks Nakama\r \r P.S. - Try thier new wine Menage Red! It was awesome! Pros: Sit at the Sushi Bar! Cons: I just don't like bathroom attendants - oh, well - thiers is at least VERY nice. more

Fun place to eat 9/17/2006

We have been to Nakama on a number of occasions and have always had a great time! It is a great place to go with a group of people. The service is excellent! They have a very friendly wait staff and great chefs! Plus, after dinner you can hang out at the bar. I will definitely be back. Pros: waitstaff more

Great Service at Nakama! 9/17/2006

Nakama was one of my first sushi experiences and it really turned me into a sushi lover. I have yet to try their hibachi, but the sushi is delicious. On my first visit to the sushi bar, I didn't know much about sushi and wasn't sure how and what to order. The sushi chef was very helpful and actually enjoyed explaining everything to be. It was very educational and tasty! more

I've dined at Nakama several times and had great experiences there EVERY TIME!!! The chefs are very personable and professional and the entire wait staff is very attentive to your needs. I recently went there for my 21st birthday in August and chose the surf and turf...AMAZING as always and they made it a very memorable birthday dinner!!!! Simply Stated : Surprisingly Delicious ! Worth the price! The atmosphere is busy and fun..definitely have to make reservations -even on a Monday!! That tells you something right there! Best Place To Eat and Meet People 9/17/2006

I have eaten at Nakoma a number of times and have hung at the bar area with my friends. The food in unbelievable and it is also fairly reasonably priced for the amount of food you get. The bar area is a nice place to hang out with your friends and drink an assortment of delicious martinis. The atmosphere is great to relax after a hard day at work. Overall I think Nakoma is a great addition to Southside and one of the best places to eat and drink in Pittsburgh. more
