Best

Love the food! The best food I've had in a long time. The service was a little slow. But I didn't mind.

Worst

I totally agree with every reviews on here that talk about the terrible service and rude awful manager. I've eaten at nakama a few times. It's either hit or miss. My time there is...

My Experience 9/17/2006

My friends and I try to get to Nakama's at least once a month. We have found that the atmosphere allows us to have so much fun. We can laugh and talk loud and be entertained by the chefs. Not to mention that the food is great. The portion sizes are huge which means you have plenty left over for lunch the next day. My favorite is Bob's Triple Combination. And if you join the mailing list (or club) you can get savings through your email. I particularly like the location of this Nakama (for those of you visiting) b/c it is in the heart of the Southside. You are walking distance from more than a few bars, clubs, theaters, etc. And a short drive from the new movie theater and shopping district. Nakama's is definitely a must-try!! On the weekends be sure to have reservations for faster seating. It gets crowded b/c its definitely a night spot. Pros: ambience, location, music Cons: Parking but they offer valet more

Best Martini and Sushi in PIttsburgh! 9/17/2006

You wont find better sushi in the city- or martinis. The sexpotini is my favorite! Their ahi tuna is out of this world too! When you walk in to Nakama you'll forget that you are in Pittsburgh- you'll thin you're somewhere like NYC or Miami--you wont find an atmosphere like this anywhere else in the 'burgh! Pros: extensive martini list Cons: the bar area gets very crowded on thursday nights- more so than friday more

Best food in Pittsburgh 9/17/2006

I have been to many ""top"" restaurants and none can compare with Nakama. The food is great, the service is great and there is a nice atmosphere. I drive 35 miles to get there and its worth it! more

When Visiting Pittsburgh from Viriginia, Nakama is Where I GO 9/17/2006

Nakama is the restaurant I alway's visit when in Pittsburgh because it is exciting, the sushi is not only delicious but artful, like the Hawaian Roll, and the hibachi dinners are fun. The service is fantastic with attention to detail and smiling faces. I live in Northern Virginia about 40 miles from Washington, D.C. Besides being near the nation's capital, we have fantastic restaurants. Nakama would be very competitive in my neighborhood. That's why I visit Nakama when I'm in Pittsburgh - great food, friendly people, wonderful buzz. Pros: Great food - especially creative sushi rolls, wonderful buzz always, attentive servers more

sushi for two 9/17/2006

lets start with the valet parking. it's great, because i don't have to drive around looking for a parking spot, blocks away. food has always been exceptional. the staff have always been very nice. the only problem we have is when we are just there to eat sushi, all the tables are being used by customers just waiting around to get seated in the dinning room. and that there were bigger tables so that more than 2 people could sit and eat sushi. more

best atmosphere for the younger crowd 9/17/2006

Nakama is one of the most trendy restaurants on the South Side. Nakama is very versatile as it is a great atmosphere for many occasions. It has a perfect atmosphere for a cocktail after work, and the best sushi bar I've experienced. In addition, it is a great place to celebrate special occasions, just be sure to reserve the private room because the main dining room is a bit loud for a large group to talk together. I go to Nakama for the Hawaiian roll because it is my favorite! more

This is one of the best japanese hibachi and sushi restaurants ANYWHERE. Great atmosphere, service does vary, but overall very good. Meat and fish is always as fresh as can be! Never compromised as they say. Highly recommend! Pros: Great Fish, Culinary Creations, Atmosphere more

BEST SUSHI ANYWHERE 9/17/2006

This is one of the best japanese hibachi and sushi restaurants ANYWHERE. The restaurant is so comfortable, and the services has always been good for me, (of course you can only judge on how crowded or non that it is. I recommended this place to all of my friends and they have nothing but the nicest things to say as well. I hope everyone gets a chance to try it atleast once. more

GREAT SERVICE IN A FRIENDLY PLACE! 9/17/2006

Nakama's environment is very friendly. The customer service is excellent. From waitresses to chefs, we were treated like royalty. \r The food is also always served perfectly to order specifications. The chefs are well trained and it shows in the way that they pay attention to your requests. They aim to please and my wife and I are always pleased. more

Best Sushi and fun atmosphere!! 9/17/2006

I have always had a great experience at Nakama...my friends and I usually eat at the bar or sushi bar, buy a bottle of wine and enjoy the food. The prices are reasonable and the bartenders know us on a first name basis....a definite good time!!! We love the shrimp tempura and the dipping sauce.... more

BEST SUSHI ANYWHERE 9/17/2006

Nakama is all around a wonderful experience, not only does it have some of the best food in all of the city of Pittsburgh, it has some of the best atmosphere and entertainment around. The sushi bar is incredible! There is something for everyone, whether its going out to get a drink with the girls, sushi on a date or Habachi with the family, Nakama is absolutely wonderful. Pros: quality of food, different than other restaurants Cons: expensive for younger adults more

Even Pregnant - I love it! 9/17/2006

I am a frequent visitor to Nakama for both personal and work functions... when I got pregnant, I thought no more of those great martinis and no more sushi.... Why go to Nakama now? .. BUT, I still love it --- The atmosphere, the non-raw items of sushi, and the non-alcoholic fruity drinks make up for all of it.... I can't wait to have Sushi and a martini again ( In fact, I am bribing my friends to bring me sushi once I give birth!) -- My little guy will learn how to choose chopsticks at Nakama when he is ready..... more

Best Sushi in Pittsburgh 9/17/2006

My fiance raves about sushi, but I had never tried it. We went to Nakama on the South Side and now I am a sushi fan! I tried a couple different dishes and was blown away. Everything was so fresh and the presentation was beautiful. The service was wonderful and the atmosphere was clean, zen-like, and relaxing. I've been back several times since my first sushi experience and have never been disappointed. I highly recommend Nakama for long-time sushi lovers and those who want to try it for the first time! Pros: Ambience, Great food, service Cons: Parking more

Hot Spot and Great Food! 9/17/2006

First off, the bar at Nakama has one of the best vibes around. I love to stop in with my sweetie and have a fabulous martini and soak up the atmosphere. It is an excellent place to stop after work or kick off your weekend. On the occasions we've stayed for dinner, we've had wonderful service and scrumptious food--like a Benihana experience with a touch more class and sophistication. Add to that their sushi...and it is a match made in heaven. My husband doesn't do sushi, so being able to order it for an appetizer is a plus in my book!\r \r Highly recommended!\r more

Social Scene 9/17/2006

Nakama is not only a place for great food, but a great place to get drinks with friends or co-workers. The bar drinks are among the best and fanciest in the Southside. I would definitely recommend it as a trendy place to meet for drinks and dinner. more
