I, however, am way to distracted by the AMAZING Irish Stew, ahhh its so good!!! I go every year in May and I always forget to write a review, but I make a point of coming here to get it, sometimes twice in a trip. My God its good... Oh great, now I'm craving it and I'm not in DC. more

If your looking for a nice relaxed setting, nice staff, and decent prices; come to Murphy's. I came to DC for a conference at the Marriott hotel. I got into the city after a long day of travel and needed a place to just relax. I was in on Saturday night and found Murphy's across the street, from the hotel. I sat at the bar and enjoyed the company of the Irish bartender and a girl who was very sweet. There was a great choice of draft beer and a full bar for whatever the heart desires for a liquor drinker. The live music was wonderful to listen too, he played little bit everything. I was then told that they did a brunch on Sundays. I went back Sunday morning and\r brunch was terrific and great deal. $9 for brunch champagne included and $1 refills. I found myself back Sunday night sitting at the bar and was given great information about the city, from the two bartenders (girl, same as the night before and guy different but very nice and helpful). The staff members I met were very nice and welcoming, and most helpful when asking questions about the city. Now looking back I ended up back at Murphy's every night of my conference. I would recommend this place for an conventioneer who comes through. Decent prices on food, and draft beers/liquor. more

Looking for a fun atmosphere?! Murphy's is the place to go. I am new to the Woodly Park area and found Murphy's walking back from the metro. When I went in and had a drink, the bartender was very nice and informative. She made me feel right at home and told me about the specials they had throughout the week. (Which are GREAT by the way!!). My roommate and I decided to come in for trivia night on a Tuesday. Trivia was a blast and we have been going back pretty much every Tuesday. They have $3.50 Heineken draft during trivia, and half priced burgers which are delicious. Murphy's has become our home away home. The staff has all been great. The prices cant be beat and I recommend anyone looking for a place to play trivia come to Murphy's on Tuesday nights. more

There's a lot that's good about Murphy's. Mostly, Tuesday trivia is legit. The questions and format (run by Trivia Tryst) are the best in town, and it lacks some of the most common trivia stressers: the atmosphere is just right - not too big (but not small) - and the music plays at reasonable volume. Getting a table isn't difficult. Also, the specials are good (half-off burgers and $3.50 Heinekens). Other good things: Happy hour (1/2 off all drafts and all apps 4-7PM). I've found the service to be friendly and attentive (if not the most competent). They have a good amount of TVs (including outdoors) with plenty of sports. more

Solid bar food - burgers, sandwiches, salads. Nicely renovated dining area, although way too bright. Server was fair, but was foreign and didn't seem to understand what we were asking for several times. In short, good neighborhood spot for a burger & beer. more

It's a great place to be a regular. Smithwick's on tap and fun bartenders. The whiskey selection is also top notch: Powers, Tullymore Dew, and Bushmills. I've snacked off some friends' plates, but never ordered food myself. But what I tried seemed alright--fish and chips--love the cottage fries. Watch out for the conventioneers--they will be there in spades. Like others have said, this isn't a rowdy place, but the bartender, Kevin, has a great playlist going at night. Cheers! more

Sunday brunch was good. Pancakes were cold. Waitress was odd and awkward. Western omelet was loaded and good. Corned beef hash was good. more

I am not much into Irish food BUT their soup is really rich & very testy also, reasonable price compare to the 2 big hotels around. more

Had an awesome happy hour with $2.50 drafts and 25 cent wings. Dinner was alright. It was close to the Omni Shoreham and we were hungry. more

Nice neighborhood bar with live music most nights. There's a mix of regulars and tourists from the nearby hotels. more
