Great Irish pub in the Woodly Park neighborhood of DC. Went here to grab a late nite pint w/ friends, and wound up making a few more! The people were very chill, and half the bar ...

Just wanted a simple hamburger and beer, so I went here for a quick dinner. The burger was very good, cooked to my specifications, and the fries were crispy and tasty. Beer was cold and fresh. It is nothing more than a simple pub, but if that is what you want then Murphy's fits the bill. more

They have these awesome little happy hour wings that are really good. more

Local to the nearby Omni Shoreham Hotel, we visited several times during our recent two week stay in Washington DC.\r Staff are quick and friendly, and the food is great, at a very reasonable price.\r Too warm to take advantage of the outdoor seating, but indoors was cool and inviting. more

Service was fast and the stew was flavorful! more

Service is always prompt and friendly, beer cold, and appetizers / bar food is fine. I love the wings. They are the best in town. I always ask for them to be a little overdone in the deep fryer and am never disappointed. Great place to go for a late happy hour...in the summer on the patio and in the winter by the fireplace. more

Our hotel was across the street, so I stopped in here almost every day for a beer and a chair on the way back to the room after walking all day in DC. I experienced attentive service, decent prices during happy hour and a nice patio. We had Sharon on two occasions and she was just fantastic-friendly and fast. My son can eat massive quantities of food, so the 25 cent wings during happy hour were priced just right. I think he ate at least 40 per visit. Plus, the were crispy and had just the right amount of heat. I know, it's an Irish pub, but come on people- Who can resist 25 cent wings? I also had the crab cakes and the were pretty yummy- handmade and not too much filler. The New England clam chowder was also tasty- thick and hearty and it hit the spot. Go for: patio, people watching, 25 cent wings and 2 dollar yuenglings during happy hour. more

We had to stop at a pub and so Murphy's of D.C. was the place. We both ordered meat and potato pie and were stuffed after this meal. It was a large slice with a good flavored ground beef and a great crust on the pie. I took a chance and ordered the pecan pie and it was very good. The ratio of pecans to syrup filling was at least 50/50 (maybe a little more pecans on top of pecans) – great! The pecans were fresh and the tops were a little toasted. The pie crust was very good and the whipped cream was added to the slice of pie at the bar – real whipped cream. Nice local group watching the game. more

If you are staying at the Marriott at Wardman Park then walk right past Harry's Pub and down the driveway and get really good food we have eaten there for lunch and dinner they serve food till midnight on weekends so get a full day in in DC and have a grat dinner and relax. The other comments about service in my opinion must be from people that forgot they were in a real pub more

After the superbowl, sometimes you don't want to go home and prepare for the week ahead. Maybe you'd rather grab just one more beer with a couple friends and discuss the finer things in life, like S&T policy and your excitement for super duper Tuesday, that is just around the corner. Or maybe, you'd rather just marvel at the fact that you are sitting by a true fireplace. That's right, a real throw-another-log-on fireplace.\r \r Yes, Murphy's has it. They also have a nice selection of beers on tap. I wouldn't call it a ""pub"" as it has a decent amount of modernness about it, but I can see myself coming back here for a good beer, with good friends, around a fire :) more

This was a nice place to bring my family. We went during classic dinner hours and received great food and service. I loved their Irish stew. They also had great onion-rings and overly generous portions. more

I live in Montana, you would think our steak would be cheap and delicious, but for the price of steak at murphy's and the service, it beats all hands down, the taste was just right, Murphy's of DC is another fine reason to go back to DC. I think the food here is way better than the real reason i was in DC in the first place, the site's. more

You have a real fireplace, great beer, and a fine bar menu so I no longer have to go any further than one block from my apartment to find this. Furthermore, you show that comfiness and coziness can be thrown into this mix which I love. Even the server I had was in a phenomenally good mood- joking and laughing just like the ambiance of an Irish pub should offer. more

The bar had a good range of beers and spiriits and the barman went out of his way to make us feel welcome as well as giving some sound advice on choice of drinks - good value even when it wasn't Happy Hour! more

We were a group of 8 after work one evening. Pleasant atmosphere, not too loud. Service was quick and accommodating to give us separate checks. Some were interested more in drinking, others of us in the 25 cent wings. If you want to fill up on wings, it's a pretty good deal, especially when soft drinks have unlimited refills. more

We wanted to go to the diner next door but the wait for that was insane. So we popped into Murphys with Brunch with friends. Overall pretty good food, and the mimosas were only $1 each so we stayed for a while and had quite a few. OUr server was very cute and super helpful more

as a bar, Murphys does very well!! It's the only legitimate bar in Woodley Park. It has an outdoor patio, the bartenders are friendly and will remember your drink if you're a regular, and did I mention live music thursday and fridays?? more

I would not have thought of going to an Irish Pub for brunch but was walking down the street Sunday morning looking for somewhere with no wait before braving the Metro to go to the Mall. Murphy's is not fancy. I had the Irish country breakfast... eggs, bacon, sausage, home fries and a biscuit. All seasoned well, cooked well... Perfect with a mimosa for $9. That is downright cheap. Next visit I might try lunch/ dinner! I sat on the patio for some great people-watching. more

Awesome music, awesome company 9/7/2009

Great Irish pub in the Woodly Park neighborhood of DC. Went here to grab a late nite pint w/ friends, and wound up making a few more! The people were very chill, and half the bar was all talking to one another which was very fun and different. Bartender was attentive and friendly, and (of course) also authentically Irish! They had some live music, which although a little loud as to make conversation strained, was VERY good! They played all kinds of classics and contemporary music, but changed it to make it sound like an Irish folk song! pretty cool. Manhattan clam chowder was delish as well. So, go to Murphys for the food, for the music, or for the pint and politics. It's a good time. Pros: Food, drink, music and conversation Cons: none really more
