I had a clogged main sewer line in my rental property. I called Mr. Plumber on 1/9/13 @ 2:52pm to have them come to the house. He quoted $135 to snake the drain and if it was unsuccessful, $265 (total) to use their water jet. He said they would have a crew there between 4-6 pm. They arrived after 6, unseated the toilet, ran the water jet, and re-seated the toilet without using a new wax ring. I paid $273.60 via check because they told me their credit card machine was down. However, within a few days, it was backing up again and now leaking through the base of the toilet and through the ceiling down below causing $200 worth of damage to the ceiling. I called at 7:13 pm on 1/13/13 to let him know and he said a crew would be out between 1-4 pm on 1/14 and that he would personally come to the site to help make sure it was fixed correctly. They never showed up,so I called at 5:19pm (1/14) and left a message since nobody answered. I never received a call back after 5 attempts. I called at 11:06 am on 1/15 using a different phone and they answered. When I asked why nobody showed up, he sounded surprised and said they would be out between 4-5 pm. At 5:30 I called & nobody answered. I left a message again. At 6 pm (1/15), I called using yet another different phone and he answered & said they were running late, but would be there within 30 minutes. They never showed. I called at 7:18pm and nobody answered. I left a message and said if he was unable to rectify the situation, I would like a refund and I would hire someone else. No response. On 1/16@ 9:11am, I called again and nobody answered. I left a message and asked if he had come up with a solution. I stated that we could not miss any more time at work to wait on them and that they could send someone out at 4pm today or I could come by the office to pick up my refund. I asked for him to call me back to let me know how he would like to proceed. Throughout all of this, I have not had a single call returned. The only times he has answered the phone in the past 2 days was when I used a different phone. I have since hired another contractor who successfully snaked the line clear on 1/31/13. This plumber told me that the Mr. Plumber crew did not do anything correctly. They did not open the 4"" clean out and tried to use the 2"" pipe which would not be big enough to clear the clog. He also said they should NEVER have run a gasoline powered engine inside the house. My tenants and their 3 children had to open doors and windows and leave the house (in the cold of Winter) to get fresh air since the Mr. Plumber crew ran the gas engine for 20 minutes in the house. He also stated that you must ALWAYS replace the wax ring when re-seating a toilet and that negligence is exactly why the water leaked from around the toilet and caused damage to the ceiling below. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they have contacted Mr. Plumber Services, Inc. 2 times in an effort to seek resolution, but they have failed to respond. I am in the process of taking them to small claims court. AVOID THIS COMPANY!
