Editorial review from Citysearch 12/11/2013

Randzman,\r Thank you for your review. I would like to respond to the fact that you decided not to get the treatment that was proposed. There are doctors that let small cavities go until they get larger; I am not one of those doctors. I believe that when cavities are treated in their early stages, then we can prevent more extensive dentistry down the line. I wish you the best.\r \r Sambood,\r Unfortunately, due to the demand for appointments after work (late afternoon) there are longer than usual wait times. This can be compounded if the prior patient has unanticipated needs. We do our best to give every patient the care that they need. \r \r As far the diagnosis goes, it is my duty to talk to you about cosmetic options to enhance your smile. It is your option to pass on the recommendation. \r \r The American Dental Association is primarily a political organization. Having advanced dental skills comes with taking continuing education courses--not from being a member of the American Dental Association. I have taken continuing education courses annually for the past 22 years to ensure that my patients get the best care out there. more

FIVE STARS FOR GOOD HANDS - ONE STAR FOR DIAGNOSIS 10/9/2011

FIVE STARS FOR GOOD HANDS - ONE STAR FOR DIAGNOSIS - July, 2011... Part 1 - Hadn't been to any dentist in far too long, got a Groupon Coupon to see her and I found her to be very skilled, easy touch, felt at ease and in the hands of someone exceptionally competent. (I have no personal association with her.) She took her time and exited feeling far more positive about talking better care of my prized teeth. Part 2: Now the other part... She diagnosed me with 11 cavities (one major, 10 small) and estimated $2200 of work. With a cash discount that came down to $1800. I was skeptical. I decided for a second opinion at Penn Dental as I thought it likely they would be both less expensive and perhaps even more picky than her. They found two cavities and only one needed drilling, on the other the filling fell out. I specifically asked about the other 10 and was told '...they're barely there and I wouldn't touch them...'. more

AWFUL experience 8/14/2010

First, there was an exceptionally long wait time in reception (this practice obviously overschedules patients severly). I pride myself on being a kind & patient person, and I understand that there is always a good wait time ahead, but this was ridiculous.\r \r When I finally met the dentist, she seemed friendly enough at first. However, as the visit went on, it became increasingly apparent that she is more like a salesperson than a dental professional (a completely unnecessary cosmetic procedure was repeatedly pushed on me throughout the visit). \r \r Then I was told that I had numerous problems with my teeth & gums that needed prompt treatment. I felt uneasy about that so held off. Then I decided to change dentists b/c I was unhappy. \r \r After a thorough exam & x-rays from my new dentist, I was told that my teeth are in perfect health. My new dentist was visibly shocked when I informed him of Dr. Mostatab's prior ""diagnoses"". \r \r So I decided to research Dr. Mostatab and I found out that she is NOT a member of the American Dental Association (this is free info available to the public on the ADA website). I'm just a layperson, but that's obviously a bad sign. \r \r more
