MVAH - great experience 1/13/2013

I was previously a resident of Washington, DC and I used to bring my 14 year old Shih Tzu to Montgomery Village Animal Hospital (MVAH). The drive from the Chinatown area of DC to Gaithersburg would take me roughly 30-45 minutes, however, the service we received from the staff at MVAH, especially Dr. Meg Quickel, made the trip worth it. We had been a long-time client of Dr. Quickel – a testament to the quality care that she delivers with utmost professionalism. More importantly, I always felt that the care that Snowball received was the care that the staff would give to their own four-legged friend. Dr Quickel is very knowledgeable and empathetic and helped Snowball and I through some difficult times. Most recently, she was able to detect that Snowball was showing signs of degenerative disc disease.Thankfully, with her accurate diagnosis, we were able to bring Snowball to the appropriate Specialist for further help. If given the opportunity, I would absolutely recommend MVAH to family and friends. more

Best vet in the area 11/7/2012

If you have a pet that you love and care about, you need to give MVAH a try. We moved to the area 3 years ago and researched and tried half a dozen vets before we found MVAH and we've stuck with them ever since. The doctors are great and they actually listen to your concerns instead of treating you like a number. Relatively short wait times, evening appts, multiple pets can be scheduled at the same time, and location is easy to get to, park at (and do some shopping in). They are also very willing to work with you and give you lots of options to fit your schedule, personal feelings about different types of treatments, and of course your pocketbook. They also have an online pet portal that allows you to track and make appts and more for your pets. We use it all the time. more

MVAH Cares 10/30/2012

A little over two years ago Dr. Neuman, who has treated two generations of our dogs, suggested we give his new vet associate, Dr. Margaret (Closs) Quickle a chance to care for our dogs. We are so glad we did. Dr. Quickle has continuously shown us to be professional, knowledgeable, and caring; especially to our Lab who has crippling joint deterioration. She has gone beyond what would be expected of her by continuing to research the cause of his problem and possible ways to give him relief. The entire staff of doctors, techs and administrative personnel have always been caring and efficient. Medical costs for treating pets is always expensive but we have experienced that Dr. Neuman does a good job of trying to contain the cost and not prescribe unnecessary treatments. more

Exceptional Staff 10/30/2012

I was searching for an orthopedic surgeon when I came across Dr. Neuman with Montgomery Village Animal Hospital. My dog dislocated her elbow the day before Hurricane Sandy was set to make landfall in our area. I was desperate to get into someone right away to ensure that she didn't have any further damage or would require surgery. Not only was Montgomery Village Animal Hospital open the day of Hurricane Sandy, they got me in for an appointment only a few hours after I called. When I arrived at the practice, the staff was extremely personable. I want to specifically give thanks to the vet technician that was working with us. He was extremely knowledgeable and made a huge effort to make sure my dog was comfortable by giving her lots of attention and treats to relax her. We were even given a small bag of treats to take home. Dr. Neuman was amazing! He not only looked at my dog for the problem that we came in for but did an overall wellness exam. He explained things to me that the emergency vet failed to mention the day before. Even going as far as explaining what the medication the emergency vet gave me was for and ensured they had given me enough. I had gone in expecting to pay for an office visit and another set of x-rays but Dr. Neuman didn't even need to take any. They saved me an extra $150-$200 on that alone. When I arrived home, I noticed Dr. Neuman had personally sent me an email informing me that if I had any questions or my dog started experiencing any pain or problems to give him a call. I have to say, no veterinarian I've EVER been to has done this before. He went far above and beyond my expectations. I am extremely pleased with the service I got from this animal hospital. I will be taking both of my dogs back in the future. more

Your Pets Are Family 12/21/2005

The Montgomery Village Animals Hospital treats the ailments of many animals. My cat was sick, so I took her to this animal hospital. She was treated with care by the vets, as if she was a human being. I would not have gone anywhere else, as my cat got the help she needed. However, the bills for this place do run very high, so make sure you can afford to pay the price for the visits. more

They've passed my test and received my approval. 6/29/2005

I understand how difficult it is to find a good vet, and I am happy to say that after taking my dog here three times for physical, I've decided that I no longer worry about whether I should find another vet or not. I did have (little) problem with them before, but it was mainly because of the vet techs, but the last time I was there, they had changed the techs and my dog was treated with care and diligence. I was rather pleased. As for my vet, Dr. Jenkins (there is another vet there, which I can't speak of because I never met him), she talks very gently to my dog and also explains to me what she's doing as she's examining him, and she would also tell me the results as she goes along. I am very happy with vet, and I think that's the more important part. Dr. Jenkins seems to know what she's doing and she seems to really care about the dog, and also if I had any questions. She wouldn't finish the exam until she's certain that I had no questions for her, and she never made me feel rushed. The staff made me feel very comfortable and a valued customer/patient. They are also very good at keeping the records and sends notice of what treatment is needed on schedule. If you have any concerns, they are very willing to work with you so the vaccination schedule suits your needs. They are never pushy with any excess procedure/treatments, either. They also provide grooming services, dental cleaning, etc. I feel like my dog is in good care in this animal hospital facility. The only tiny thing I wasn't happy about was that last year, a month after my dog went to his physical I received a bill from them, when I thought I already paid the full fee. It's always annoying to receive bills when you don't expect it. I asked them to make sure to charge me the full amount at the time of my exam, and they apologized for that and was sympathetic to the inconvenience. I didn't choose the price range because I don't really know how much vet charges on average. more
