RUN FROM THIS "PRACTICE" 6/4/2021

Run, do not walk, away from this terrible practice. They will be on their cellphone during your initial consultation. Treat you like a number and not a person, fail to hear or care about your concerns as Shawna will just tell you "we're a private practice and don't need you". My primary care physician requested a copy of my lab and ultrasound records be sent to her office to monitor my pregnancy independently and they said it was too much to ask for from their practice. Staff will never learn to say or show respect for your name as they simple do not care to learn how it's pronounced. You will have to call multiple times to get an answer to one issue without getting the run around. I'm a high risk multiples pregnancy, with risk of heart defects for my children and currently experiencing gestational diabetes and there was no special consideration for those risks, no referral to maternal fetal medicine. My initial ob dr out of wilton was fantastic but didn't deliver at a hospital with a nicu so i had to switch. They were willing to do weekly monitoring of the pregnancy due to the elevated risks in the first trimester. I was told by a former patient before going here that their Clifton park office was pretty shotty but i could NEVER have expected it to be this atrocious and if their miserable demeanors weren't enough their office is dingy and outdated. Do your homework and stay FAR away from this practice. Their Schenectady location has similar reviews if you do your homework. 10/10 do NOT recommend this place to ANYONE because quality care is NOT what you'll receive here. more

Good Practice/Need to Find Who Fits 9/27/2011

The Schenectady office staff is extremely unorganized and rude. BUT the clifton park office staff is freindly and caring. Dr. Mondragon delivered me 23 years ago with my mother who is still loyal to the practice and they will be delivering my baby this year. I tried every practitioner in the office and found Jennifer fits my needs best, you just have to find what kind of medical style you like best. She is an advocate for her patients. more

Schenectady Staff 9/7/2011

Absolutely the worst!! First I get a bill from a collection agency for who-knows-what procedure that would have been covered by my insurance but they never submitted it. Next they demand I have a coloscopy from an abnormal pap smear but my primary says its more common they take another b.c it was soo minor (aka trying to take my money!) Then I cave - go to have the procedure and the nurse doesn't tell me I need to do a urine test before I use the bathroom and once in the exam room hassles me for cancelling when my mom was hospitalized. The audacity.... I'm disgusted by the lack of professionalism in this office and will never go back. more

I do not recommend this practice 8/17/2011

I have recently left this practice after being verbally attacked by Dr. Mondragon, being labelled as resistive due to questioning why interventions are being recommended. Due to the amount of practitioners there is a lack of communication between visits. I left multiple visits in distress and fear. They are not patient centered as a whole. If Dr. McGrinder or Dr. Stier ever separated themselves from the practice I would highly recommend them. more

Excellent Patient Care in Clifton Park! 5/5/2011

The reception staff has always been very helpful and caring! Easy to get convenient appt, never wait long (unless you go to Schenectady office--do NOT like their front-end staff!!) The doctors and PA's LISTEN and provide the best care and advice! I love all the doctors, and Dr. Stier made my delivery amusing and easy! more

Fantastic 11/10/2010

I have been going here a long time. I loved Bernstein. When she left I went to Stier, which has been wonderful! I had two m/c but since I was older trying to conceive I just thought it was because of my age, but they did not and sent me for blood testing which revealed I had a blood disorder causing the m/c. Sent me to the best hemo in the capital region and started to receive the blood thinners I needed the next time I became pregnant. I was considered a high risk patient for several reasons. Dr. Stier and the staff took wonderful care of me. They were very concerned and went above and beyond. I had a healthy baby boy thanks to thier proactive actions and attention to detail. Barb is wonderful agreed! And yes I may see a NP for routine check-ups but if there was a problem I know I can count on Dr. Stier to be there when I need him and the staff. more

Never going back! 11/2/2010

Went for an annual exam which is covered in full by my health insurance and got a bill for $143 because they did a chlamydia test without my knowledge. I am responsible for paying this because they say it is standard procedure. I live paycheck to paycheck and do not receive government assistance, $143 is a lot to me and I would never have gone there knowing that they require and optional test that was going to cost me money. Also had to have a test done last year that cost me nearly $400 because they put the claim through as a surgery. I didn't think a q-tip swab was a surgery. Also, the fact that they won't give you a birth control prescription for more than 6 months so you have to keep coming back is ridiculous. more

Some great, some not 11/2/2010

Good: McGrinder and Stier are fantastic! Fortunately, they were the doctors who ended up delivering my 2 babies.. Bad: The office harrasses me to make unneeded follow-up visits-they will call you until you do it. When I had the Mirena put in, I did not receive any instruction or the paperwork that the manufacturer intends you to be sent home with. I had to look it all up online. Mondragon is snotty and abrupt. Marola is definately old-school. He once just looked at my breasts instead of a typical breast exam. Weird.. Other: I never had to wait more than 15 minutes in either office. Receptionists are very nice.. more

Unnecessary surgery is what you get 8/30/2010

Dr. Mondragon is so giggly, hower, she does not give a s--t about you, did not even visit me after my hysterectomy, which turned out to be questionnable anyway. Always go for a second opinion anywhere--and do not be as naive as I was. more

Dr.Mondragon is so great 8/16/2010

I have had problems with incontinence, but she was the one who found that I had an herniated bladder, because of the hysterectomy I had done 4 yrs ago, she did surgery for it, and I have been great ever since. She is wonderful more

Great if you want an unnecessary c-section 8/7/2010

I was told I could never naturally birth a baby as large as the one I had (8lb11oz) after Dr. Stier bullied me into a c-section. 21 months later I had a successful, wonderful VBAC with a healthy 10lb5oz baby. I will always have an emotional (and physical) scar from his inability to support a natural birth. more

factory-like practice 6/9/2010

I have private insurance that I work for, I an not going to this Medicaid practice anymore!!! Feel like a cattle in some sort of processing facility. more

Dr Stier is the BEST! 5/23/2010

i use to see dr bernstein who pushed my abdominal pain as just me having bad periods. 6 years later and the pain getting worse, i switched to Dr. Stier who diagnosed me with ovarian cyst syndrome. he ended up performing surgery on me and removed a cyst that was pre-cancerous. he called a day or so after my surgery to see how i was doing and followed up post operatively with me. when i see him for routine visits, he listens to me and is very gentle. i honestly recommend him as he is a doctor who really takes his patients feelings and emotions into consideration. more

Awful 4/1/2010

They used to be excellent. Now everything is a big uncomfortable rush. more

too frustrated to even start talking about this..I wil never go back more

Patient for ~3 years, NEVER going back 9/24/2009

In order to get birth control refills this office requires that everyone have an office visit every six months, not yearly like all the other doctor offices in the country. They claim that they do this with every patient. I refused to come in because I see no reason (I have low blood pressure, do not smoke, weigh 120lbs...). They said this is their office policy & they refused to allow me to get another refill until I came in. I have talked with other obgyn's & they were floored that they had such a policy, they had never heard of such a thing. There are only 2 reasons they would do this; 1. because they are poor doctors & can not determine the difference between high & low risk. Or 2. They want to make more money. I went to another obgyn to get a refill. They requested my records from this office. I received a letter yesterday saying that I have to fork over $10 to have them photocopy & $2 to mail my records to another office. Wow, seems like a lot, right. Well at least I now know that they aren't bad doctors, they are just looking to make extra cash. The funny part is I have no problem paying for my records as long as I never have to deal with this office ever again. I highly recommend that people do not support such an office. They are taking advantage of people & trying to make extra money. more

horrible 8/10/2009

I do not know what happened to that practice--they used to be good. They are a disaster now. Doctors do not seem to care about their patients--they dumped me twice to see a young nurse practitioner that is still learning the ropes. I am done with them. more

a emotional, horrible experience 8/7/2009

Good: One nurse named Barb. Bad: Dr, Mondragon was too quick with her diagnose. She comes across very arrogant and doesn't listen to me when I try to explain things. My hysterectomy was a disaster! When I recv'd my pathology report I found no evidence that support her actions of taking my ovaries. I am in horrible menopause now and she just increased my dose but I have a horrible vaginal issue that she has totally disregarded.I can't even urinate and when i do I suffer with pain. The bottom line...I feel hurt, upset and she doesn't care :(. Improvements: She needs to stop acting like she knows everything and let the patient speak and her stop talking. Other: I would never recommend her as a ob. She took my ovaries just so she could be done with me... more

not a good practice 5/31/2009

Practice like cattle hoarding--they do not tell you that they cross cover with 5 other doctors. Do not be surprised when you get to the hospital and none of them will even show up to say hi to you. My baby was delivered by the doctor I never seen before. McGrinder is a good doctor. Mondragon just giggles but doesn't know much--I did not know that she was not even board certified after so many years in practice. I do not know much about their third doctor. more

Unorganized Staff 12/13/2008

LOVE DR. MONDRAGON!! OFFICE STAFF NOT SO MUCH! Never been to Schenectady office, yet my chart was there. Office could not find my bloodwork after a week and a half, possibly in Clifton Park, and why is my chart not all together, instead it is somewhere between offices which nobody can find. Does not make me feel to confident in the office staff at all! My first impression of the CP office, reception desk very cluttered, too many people handling patient charts and too many mistakes in a short time for me. more
