My Dog is great 4/15/2012

We adopted a 5 month old puppy from Molly's in December, 2011. She's a great dog. As for the experience of adopting from Molly's Place, yes, the dogs are separated by size & age and allowed to roam free in their sections. Yes, they pee & poop and it's slippery on the floor. The fact is that dogs pee & poop. The volunteers did their best to clean up after each mess was made. I do advise old clothes and old shoes when going there. We took our dog to our Vet for a checkup a couple of days after bringing her home. She was in pretty good shape, but did have tapeworms. Meds from our Vet took care of the problem quickly. The price to adopt puppies is higher than older dogs or dogs with special needs. I wasn't thrilled with the fee, $450, but my feeling is that if the money helps Molly's Place to save more animals from high-kill shelters, than I think the money is being put to good use. They are saving a lot of animals. It's a tough situation to keep everything clean and the animals healthy, but I believe the folks at Molly's Place are doing the best they can. If I was getting another dog, I would check out Molly's Place again. I'd wear old clothes & old shoes, but I would definitely check out their animals. more

Great Place! Wonderful Pets! 4/15/2012

We lost our beloved Maddy about a year ago. My daughter and son in law recently adopted two puppies from Mollys Place. After seeing and spending time with their new additions, my wife and I decided it was time to add a pet to our empty home again too. more

Mollys is the Best! 4/13/2012

We just adopted two puppies from Mollys Place and we could not have been more impressed. more

RUN! And don't look back. 4/13/2012

I came here to post my review of this place, and all I can say is - What a soap opera! You have people here who are voicing their complaints, who're dealing with sick creatures that they didn't know they were being given, and then Tom, who is bullying everyone. I'm going to add my review to the list of growing reviews about this place. more

Be careful when you adopt a pet 4/5/2012

We adopted a puppy the end of December from Molly's place. It would seem they dont screen the pets they receive very carefully. We were not told of any health issues with his litter, but it turns out he has bad hips, poor vision, and seizures......alot for a puppy to have to deal with.Im not saying don't adopt there.....but please, examine your future pet very carefully . It was not my intention to adopt a special needs puppy but it seems thats what we got. Oh and reply to ""Ihatestupidignorantpeople"" -Its amazing that all the other animal shelters manage to do the very same things that Molly's place does, without charging exorbitant adoption fees. Go figure? My ""highly adoptable"" pup ended up having several health problems. more

Compassionate and Caring 3/30/2012

After reading some of these reviews, I too feel the need to express my opinion concerning my adoption experience at Mollys Place. I find it hard to believe that we are talking about the same place since we had a very different experience. We found the staff to be very friendly and welcoming and they and the owner could not have been more caring and compassionate. more

The ignorant the unknowledgeable and the chronic complainers 3/29/2012

This ridiculous babble really makes me angry. Grow up lady! You are an adult who made the conscious choice to adopt a pet for $650 and then have the audacity to turn around complain after the fact. Here's an idea, as with any thing in life, don't purchase something if you don't want to or if the fee is too high for you to afford. Either go somewhere else...or.... pick a less expensive dog. While Mollys does charge more for highly adoptable dogs, they also charge less for adult or less adoptable dogs. Since your so concerned about $$$ pick a less expensive dog, adopt from another shelter or rescue or you can can always bargain shop the free pet ads. If you do make the ""biggy girl"" decision to purchase a higher priced dog then don't complain about YOUR choice. Here's another idea, don't place the blame on the rescue because you had an inappropriate size collar. Clearly for the safety of the dog any responsible pet adoption place would require you to have a collar (that fits) and a leash to transport your new pet home. Either pay the price for the collar, which sounds comparable to prices in retail stores, or take your lazy, complaining self to the nearest dollar store so you can spend your one dollar for a collar and then no one else needs to hear your whining and complaining. Perhaps people like you should be going to the dollar store to spend your $1 for a stuffed dog instead of adopting a live one....at least that way would be guaranteed to never have a problem and it would save you $$$$$$ which is really your bottom line. more

the good, the bad and the greed 3/22/2012

The good- they have a large selection of dogs and seem to be a well organized rescue. The staff and volunteers are helpful and do appear to care about the animals. more

Best Place Ever 2/18/2012

After reading some of the negative reviews of Mollys Place I just had to voice my opinion. We have adopted two dogs from them and they are part of the family. Many years later when I retired, I went to Mollys to volunteer. I usually stay with the large dogs and found them to be very friendly. Several jumped up in my lap without coaxing. There were dogs behind the benchs but that is where they feel safe. The dog areas are spit shined by volunteers and employees alike. The owners are the most caring people you would ever find. The manager came out to our house at night for two hours when Cricket escaped thru an airconditioner side. more

Adopter Beware 1/28/2012

We adopted 2 cats from Molly's. 1 adult and a kitten. The adult cat was perfectly healthy but the kitten has problems. They would not let us take the cat right away because she had not been spayed yet. We had to wait a month to pick her up because she ""had a cold"". We later found out the kitten has respiratory problems and worse yet she has ringworm. We now have a house infested with ringworm and a sick kitten that is costing a bundle in vet bills. While I believe they are doing the best they can with the animals, the potential adopter has to be aware that you may be adopting an animal that could possibly be ill. Unless you are aware of the potential health risks involved, be very careful when considering an adoption from Molly's. I don't believe they isolate the sick animals from the healthy ones the way they should. more

10 out of 10! 1/12/2012

I can't stop raving about Molly's Place. I never knew that a place like this existed. I could not have been more impressed with their facility and staff. more

Thank Heaven for Molly's! 1/12/2012

We live on a farm where people keep abandoning cats. Although we try our best to get them all spayed and neutered, we've ended up with several litters of kittens as a result. more

Adult cats rule!!!!! 1/12/2012

We had always had 2 cats but our calico lady died last summer at the age of 14 and just last month our 20 year old cat passed away. We missed him terribly and could not bare coming home to an empty house. We were told about Molly's Place and went to take a look last weekend. more

Love my frenchie! 1/12/2012

Molly s Place saved a dog and made my dream of owning a French Bulldog come true. I learned that because of the stricter kennel laws dog breeders often surrender their dogs to Mollys when they can no longer produce puppies. I have always wanted a frenchie but could not bring myself to buy from a breeder. Always got my dogs from shelters. I spoke with the knowlegable staff at Mollys and they told me they would contact me if any were surrendered. Right before Thanksgiving a little black and white girl who had an infected uterous was brought to Mollys. The dear dog was promptly spayed and treated for infection. Several weeks later she became the newest member of our family. Had it not been for Mollys she probably would have been euthanized because she was now COSTING the breeders money, not making it. Thank you Molly's!!!!! more

AVOID this place - owner is crazy 1/10/2012

Let me begin by telling you that Ive never left a bad review of anything in my life. I?m the type of guy that would eat a burnt steak before sending it back. I tell you this because my experience at Molly?s last week was so bizarre that it will most likely seem unbelievable to most normal people who read this. I assure you, it?s not. It was three weeks before Christmas and no one in the area had kittens. None at the pet stores, none at the SPCA, not even any on Craigslist. Finally my wife checked Petfinder and found that Molly?s Place in Mechanicsburg had lots of them (should have been our first sign!). I took my 2 daughters and niece to Molly?s (anyone who has ever taken 3 little girls to get a kitten knows what this is all about) and they picked out their favorite. I was told that I would need to put down a deposit to hold it. Even though it was going to cost 3X what it would have cost at the SPCA, I went ahead and paid the full amount anyway. When I returned to pick up the cat several days later, the owner (Lori) told me that she would not allow me to take the kitten based on a phone call she received the day before from ?my wife?. I was very confused. No one I know had made this phone call she was referring to. It was immediately apparent that she was mistaking me with someone else. I tried to calmly explain this to her, yet she remained adamant that my wife had called. I finally got agitated and told her to just give me my money back. She refused. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. She had accepted my money as a deposit and was now refusing to give me either the cat or the deposit back? I told her that I wasnt leaving until I got one or the other. She threatened to call the police and I begged her to do so because she was stealing my money. She eventually walked away and went behind a closed door and I had no choice but to leave. I was so agitated that I sent her an email the next day informing her that I was disputing the charge on my credit card, reporting her to the BBB, and considering taking her to small-claims court. I honestly assumed that by now she would have calmed down, realized that she had made a mistake, and would offering a full refund and an embarrassed apology. Instead I got a reply from her basically taunting me. She told me that I had no chance with the credit card or the small claims court because this type of thing ?happens all the time and she never loses a dispute? thanks to the form I signed (apparently the form you sign releases you from any rights to the deposit - who would ever expect a non-profit pet adoption center to scam you?). Does this sound like someone who is running a reputable business? I honestly still cant believe this whole thing happened. My friends all refer to it as my ?crazy-cat-lady story? and laugh when I tell it. But the truth is, this lady basically stole $100 from me and made my kids cry a week before Christmas. For this there is no forgiveness. If you find yourself looking for a pet, I urge you to go someone ANYWHERE other than Molly?s. The SPCA is less than half the price and you don't have to deal with an out-of-control whackjob. more

""The dog Nazis"" 1/7/2012

Molly's Place is great! I've been a regular visitor for the past year. What's comical is if anyone remembers the episode from Seinfeld with ""the soup Nazi"", the staff at Molly's reminds me of ""the dog Nazis. They are really caring and protective about who adopts their brood. Which is good that they screen applicants and deny inappropriate homes. I guess this shoots down the theory that they are in it for the money, otherwise they would just take people's money and let anyone adopt. more

Rescue Pets Rule 1/6/2012

We adopted our dog from Molly's and she's the best pet we've ever had. The adoption fee was higher than some of the other shelters and rescues we visited, but considering all that was done and knowing the cost of veterinary care, we recognized that the fee was reasonable. We were getting the dog plus all the medical services for an adoption fee that was lower than what we would have paid a veterinarian just for the medical care. more

Undercover Mother 1/5/2012

Based upon your suggestion, I performed a thorough investigation of Molly's Place. I secretly went onto their website and was able to obtain information concerning some of the many pets they have available for adoption. I followed up with an anonymous phone call to their facility to uncover additional information as to the suspicious activities going on at their shelter. I then stealthily crept in to Molly's Place for a visit with some serious undercover action. Here is some of the information I've discovered (Please keep this information top secret): more
