Businiess name:  Molly's Place Rescue Pet

Review content:
Let me begin by telling you that Ive never left a bad review of anything in my life. I?m the type of guy that would eat a burnt steak before sending it back. I tell you this because my experience at Molly?s last week was so bizarre that it will most likely seem unbelievable to most normal people who read this. I assure you, it?s not. It was three weeks before Christmas and no one in the area had kittens. None at the pet stores, none at the SPCA, not even any on Craigslist. Finally my wife checked Petfinder and found that Molly?s Place in Mechanicsburg had lots of them (should have been our first sign!). I took my 2 daughters and niece to Molly?s (anyone who has ever taken 3 little girls to get a kitten knows what this is all about) and they picked out their favorite. I was told that I would need to put down a deposit to hold it. Even though it was going to cost 3X what it would have cost at the SPCA, I went ahead and paid the full amount anyway. When I returned to pick up the cat several days later, the owner (Lori) told me that she would not allow me to take the kitten based on a phone call she received the day before from ?my wife?. I was very confused. No one I know had made this phone call she was referring to. It was immediately apparent that she was mistaking me with someone else. I tried to calmly explain this to her, yet she remained adamant that my wife had called. I finally got agitated and told her to just give me my money back. She refused. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. She had accepted my money as a deposit and was now refusing to give me either the cat or the deposit back? I told her that I wasnt leaving until I got one or the other. She threatened to call the police and I begged her to do so because she was stealing my money. She eventually walked away and went behind a closed door and I had no choice but to leave. I was so agitated that I sent her an email the next day informing her that I was disputing the charge on my credit card, reporting her to the BBB, and considering taking her to small-claims court. I honestly assumed that by now she would have calmed down, realized that she had made a mistake, and would offering a full refund and an embarrassed apology. Instead I got a reply from her basically taunting me. She told me that I had no chance with the credit card or the small claims court because this type of thing ?happens all the time and she never loses a dispute? thanks to the form I signed (apparently the form you sign releases you from any rights to the deposit - who would ever expect a non-profit pet adoption center to scam you?). Does this sound like someone who is running a reputable business? I honestly still cant believe this whole thing happened. My friends all refer to it as my ?crazy-cat-lady story? and laugh when I tell it. But the truth is, this lady basically stole $100 from me and made my kids cry a week before Christmas. For this there is no forgiveness. If you find yourself looking for a pet, I urge you to go someone ANYWHERE other than Molly?s. The SPCA is less than half the price and you don't have to deal with an out-of-control whackjob.
