love the community in this gym! 2/20/2011

Good: I like how its a smaller gym, which results in more personal relationships with the instructors.. Bad: Nothing.. Improvements: Nothing.. Other: Started out at LA fitness but moved to MLS to get in shape for lacrosse. Lost 7 pounds in the first week and feel much more confident for the season! Everyone is so nice from the instructors/workers/gym goers. It's just a great experience!. more

great gym! 8/31/2010

Good: I love the passion and the fitness level of all the instructors. The workouts are different every day...no chance of getting bored!. Bad: I pretty much like everything!. Improvements: I wish Marilu could clone herself a few more times...she is so amazing!!. more

going downhill 8/12/2010

i have been at member at mls since it opened and before that i used to follow marilu all over to take her classes. they used to be fun, innovative and motivating! i really felt like she cared about my fitness! and now, things have changed. the classes are not as good, the schedule is always changing, and the instructors are just ok. i used to shower there everyday, but now i am completely grossed out. she cleans the gym herself! an impossible task for one woman to clean over 8000 sq ft! its sad to see this place that was once so great do downhill, fast.... more

I lost 15 pounds after joining MLS! 8/5/2010

Joining MLS has changed my life. I started dieting, but the exercise really sped up my weight loss. 90% of the classes incorporate cross training - I have bad knees, but the instructors always incorporate modifications for beginners and recovering injuries. The owner is so passionate about what she does - a little overwhelming at first, but once I got to know her, I felt like she really cared about my progress and was willing to help in any way she could. I love how each instructor motivates you in different ways - Annie is the best! more

Fun and an incredible workout! 8/5/2010

I just recently joined for $30 for 60 days! I have always gone to franchise gyms like LA fitness and PSC but I love the feeling of community that I get being a part of a smaller gym. I have never been to such fun and innovative classes from cardio step to bosu to kettlebell. And if I want to use a machine, theres never a line!! I found the facility very clean, I shower there every morning after class. The locker room is always stocked with fresh towels and beauty products. So glad I joined! more

Filthy Environment 6/15/2010

I did a two week introductory membership recently and thought I was getting a good deal for twenty five dollars. But along with what I thought would be a good deal came an instructor who looked as though she should be teaching in an assisted living facility (a bag of loose skin with questionable energy). The gym is relatively new but reeks of BO, the mats were filthy, and the carpeting terribly stained. When I questioned a sleepy clerk at the front desk who cleaned the gym, I was told the owner did, and the clerk bragged that she even cleans her own toilets!!! As noble as an endeavor I think that fears of MERSA sent me running, not walking, back to Philadelphia Sports Club. more

frustrating experiences 5/10/2010

Good: I like the people in the classes, i like the challenge of the classes,. Bad: I hate hearing that the instructor has taught other classes that day and that "we" should be able to keep up with her. The clients come to exercise after a full day of work and dont want to be put down. alsos at times i feel like i am being "yelled" at when i am trying to work out. Improvements: the use of air conditioning during class - it gets too hot and stinky in the rooms without the air circulation. Other: i'd like to see other instructors so that there is a variety of exercise - where is courtney? is she ever coming back? ML is great but variety is the spice of life. more

NOT a good experience! 3/27/2010

One bad apple truly spoils the vibe of this gym. While the facilities are nice (the equipment is fairly new and it has a smaller gym, intimate feel), the owner/manager lacks the most basic customer service skills and her toxic attitude/condescending tone results in an overall negative experience. On one occasion, I invited a guest to introduce her to the kettlebell classes, and hoped to pick up the tab for her first expereince so I asked the desk attendent to use 1 of my 20 pre-paid classes for my guest-- the attendent was courteous and proceeded with my request. The owner/manager, however, lacking decorum and appreciation for the potential new client I was attempting to introduce, lectured me that I could not do this again (despite the fact that this was not my intent). Her lack of professionalism and courtesy are the reason I will not further patronize this business or provide future referrals. As a side note, the kettlebell instructors (who operate independent of MLS Fitness and simply use the gym for training purposes) are nice and very professional. Their kettlebell instruction is fantastic and I highly recommend their services without any reservation. more
