My Husband and I are both very pleased that we chose to check out Mitra for a dinner date tonight. We were seated immediately. The mojitos were perfection and came out right after we ordered them, and the food was delicious. We had the calamari, sea scallops, and paella, all which exceeded expectations. Also, the valet parking was very quick and courteous. Definitely a place we'll be back to and recommend to our friends! Pros: Food, service, ambiance Cons: none more

From start to finish dinner at Mitra is always stellar. Service is impeccable and discreet. The food and drinks are outstanding fresh and worth the money. The ambiance definitely caps off the evening. For a fun fresh evening with friends or a casual date night Mitra is perfecto. Pros: Food Service Ambiance Cons: Limited available parking more

My DH and I went to Mitra last night and it was so enjoyable. We both had the 2 different specials I had the shark which was awesome, so fresh and favorable and he had the pork tenderloin which unfortunately I didn't get a chance to taste since he inhaled it I think. The restaurant service was excellent, it's enjoyable going somewhere and not being rushed so they can turn the table. We were able to sit enjoy our food and cocktails without being hovered over and wanting us to pay the check and leave. Not too many restaurants in this day and time will let customers linger to digest and just enjoy an evening out. The chef came out and personally introduced himself to us, explained how the specials were made. He spent probably 5 or 10 minutes with us and each table, that shows he has a keen interest in feedback of his patrons. Thanks for a great evening!!! We will be back Pros: excellent food more

Worst Ever Dining Experience 2/18/2009

The atmosphere was loud. I heard every conversation around me except my own. The seating was uncomfortable & the tables were practically right on top of each other. The service was appalling. Every table around us was serviced before we were ever followed up with. The cocktails were some of the worst we've ever had. We had to go straight to the bar to get new ones because the server didn't check back with us. After close to 25 minutes we finally received our first course, served by someone besides our server, which was actually fairly good. Unfortunately we never saw our server after that nor did we receive second course course...or new drinks. After 50 or so minutes we had too much and left. Pros: None Cons: Everything more

Worst Customer Service Ever: Mitra Wins 11/21/2008

tenman Provided by Partner
Please take my advice. This place has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I decided to have party at this venue because I thought it would be something new and exciting for my friends. I had about 50 friends come and all Mitra provided was ONE (1) bartender to take care of food, drinks, and clean up. The "event coordinator" Zach Rogers is very unprofessional and very rude. The food is high price with very little satisfaction for you money!!! There are a number of other places within the perimeter that you can go to that will provide you top notch customer service and high quality food. DO NOT WASTE YOU TIME WITH MITRA!!! BOTTOM LINE: DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH MITRA!!! more

This is a classy restaurant. With a red dark interior, it gives off a "romantic" feel almost. The restaurant was open late when I first went there. Started off with some appetizers and shared a meal with my date. The food was good, and for a late night, the service was also exceptional. Pros: location, service, decorations Cons: darkness, bathrooms... more

I've been going to Mitra for years and I have to say I have never been disappointed. The decor is chic and everyone is always really friendly. The food is always first class. My favorite is the calamari with all these different sauces I'll never remember the names to. If you're looking for a place with great food, adorable drinks and a fantastic atmosphere I highly recommend Mitra on Juniper. Its a rare gem hidden away in Midtown. Pros: Always great service and food more

Terrible experience, so many other better restaurants in Atlanta thatn Mitra. 3/3/2008

Ok, yes the interior is creatively designed but that it the best part of the restaurant. We waited for 30 minutes for an initial drink order. They were out of lobster and as many have said the wine list is a joke. Even red lobster may have a better selection. We ordered apps and they took an hour, dinner came 15 min later. The salmon I order was fishy, note to chef or cook, soak in milk if the fish smells fishy. If I wouldn't have been invited by others I would have walked out of this place after waiting for 30 minutes for drinks. The waitress also charged me for a bottle of wine when I only had a glass and we had to wait another 20 minutes to get her attention. This was my first time to Mitra and will be my last. The salmon was not worth the 20 bucks and the apps were ok. Being advertised as 4 stars and upscale this place falls way short based on the service and quality of food. There are so many great restaurants in Atlanta and I do not recommend Mitra. Pros: creatively designed Cons: bad service, average quality food, more

I was realy impressed with the resturant. I loved the decoration, the appetizer, the drinks, the food, the dessert. Everything we had was out of this world. The appetizer and the dessert sampler were out of this world. I highly recommend the resturant. It is definitely one of the best ones in Atlanta. The price was also very reasonable. Pros: food, drinks, and the ambience more

The Worst Service Ever 7/31/2007

We went to Mitra for my birthday , it was a party of 12 people on a Tuesday night. Only four other tables were occupied throughout our time there, but for some reason service was extremely slow. We waited approximately 45 minutes for our entree' (main course). The food was decent but the entree selection appeared very limited. It would have been better to order several tapas, there were more selections, approximately they same amount of food as an entree and very inexpensive. Best item to try would be the Sample appetizer platter, I loved the calamari and the beef stuffed peppers. What made this experience unbearable was the service, Chris, our waiter, was first off under the influence several of my guest smelt liquor on his breath, her was rude, arrogant, and impaitent toward us from the time we sat down until the very end where we had a one hour ordeal regarding the check ( he made a promises at the beginning to split the check for our large party even though it was against restaurant policy, which then caused a scene between him and the manager). I would not recommend wasting your time here, there are plenty of other great restaurants to try in Atlanta. Pros: Great Tapas and Appetizers Cons: Chris the waiter more

Excellent Meal in a Wonderful Setting 3/6/2007

Tuesday night at Mitra - attentive staff (Tim) gave good advice on wine and entree selection and matching the two. Paella is lovely - light, flavorful, full of shrimp, scallops, mussels. The pulled pork is lick-the-plate good, with cream cheese mashed potatoes. Favorite appetizers on the tasting plate are the calamari, the fritters and the micro-tostadas (the true name is on the menu, but that's the concept - awesome in execution.) The restaurant setting is beautiful with lots of warm colors and great use of lighting and fabric. Perfect for a romantic occasion and a happy dinner event with family and friends. Pros: Menu, service, atmosphere Cons: none more

Avoid unless you want overpriced food and wine and poor service 2/27/2007

I see that my friend already provided a spot on review of our dinner at Mitra. Just a few things to add. Service was great until we asked for assistance with the wine list. In what world is a wine list consisting of 10 chardonnays and essentially nothing else acceptable? And the wines are WAY overpriced to boot. The bartender came to the table and brought 3 wines to taste but he was neither very helpful nor friendly. The beef kabobs with pomegranate sauce were ok, but the pomegranate seeds need to be left out. I mean, what?s the point? Our server knew it was our friend?s birthday, even so he still brought out a cold chocolate lava thing. And the ice cream had already begun to melt. Don?t bother with Mitra, you would have a better dining experience at Chilis. Cons: Wine list, food, service more

We steeped in to Mitra this friday past to notice that the restaurant was unusally busy we were greeted promptly and sat and was told that tonight our server would be Chris. Our server came over and walked us through the menu with a positive attitude and very enthusiastic about his job he helped us as we made our dinnner selection and also suggested a bottle of wine to go with our dinner. Overall everything was exceptional and we will be back soon to experience some different menu items. I highly recommend Mitra as a leader in latin flavors in the midtown district. more

Don't bother 2/24/2007

I really did not like this place and I'm shocked it's been open for so long. I had heard good things about it but it was really bad! The wine list is pathetic. All chardonnay (which NO ONE I know drinks), 4 New Zeland sav. blancs and a pinot grigio. Which is of course obnoxiously over priced. Our waiter, Chris, started out friendly but it went downhill from there. We had the calamari, which was fine, nothing to write home about. Then two of us ordered the bisque and a salad, it never arrived. And it's not like they could blame it on being busy because there were only 3 or 4 other tables. It was dead. They brought our food while 2 of the ladies were powdering their nose. So the rest of us waited for them and the food got cold. Unacceptable, that's what the heat lamps in the kitchen are for. Not that it really mattered though because the food was not good. The salmon was overcooked beyond recognition and the other things are not worth mentioning. What a waste! We ordered the chocolate lava cake for my friend's birthday dessert. Chris was visibly disappointed we only ordered one (it was a table of 4 ladies!). It came out cold, probably microwaved out of the box, so no lava. Boo. Pros: none Cons: food, service, wine list more

Best place in Midtown 2/15/2007

I took my date to Mitra for Valentines day and it was fantastic. A perfect spot to impress your date. Being a holiday it was extremely busy, but our waiter Sean was on top of things through the entire experience. Professional and friendly he walked us through the menu and made us feel welcomed, even though the place was packed. The food was perfect. the crab croquettes melted in my mouth. I had the shortribs with sweet potatos and my date had two lobster tails. The shortribs were boneless and so tender. The dessert was a chocolate heart and cheese cake cones with chocolate covered strawberries,. It was very good, and huge. It was a ton of food, no skimping at all. Mitra herself stopped by, which I thought was a great personal touch in a city filled with big commercial restaurants. I'd tell anyone that Mitra is the best restaurant I've been to in a long time. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a nice restaurant with spectacular food and excellent service. Pros: Food, Atmosphere, Service Cons: Parking more
